    3 Meat Platter
    Carrie H.

This was a perfect find as we traveled through Cincy on our way to KY. We are currently trying a Carnivore diet & it isn't easy to find food in a restaurant. We were able to order a 3 meat platter with no sides. We got chicken, brisket & ribs. You could taste the smoke & the meat just melted in your mouth! It was plenty for the 2 of us. The place is quaint & filled with inspirational messages all over the walls. Definitely would stop again on our way home!

The month of December came bearing gifts of great food and amazing company. While in Cincinnati we ate at Just Q'in and this was the food highlight of the trip. This meat was amazing and the service was on point. Ever since my trip to Canada I have been obsessed with pastrami and the meat here did not disappoint. Juicy and tender. I also had the short ribs and like all other short ribs it isn't a cut of meat that's for me. It was good. The sides lived up to the hype and u just felt Luke the only thing missing was sliced bread! The place had a cool vibe with limited seating so you can't take an entire bus load to eat in. Would I go back, yep soon as I land. Should you go? Yep as your first and last meal.

Pastrami sandwich with potato salad and baked beans.

As a Texas native it was hard to give it a well deserved 5 stars. The pastrami sandwich with the spicy mustard pickled onions and one delicious cheese or another was delicious. The potato salad did not have one raisin; delightful. The beans were hot and pared well with the meal. Any and God fearing Texan knows that I mixed the beans and the potato salad to make a 3rd side. The space was clean. I sat at a street front window. And took in the rain and passers by as I chewed with my mouth open; the beans were hot. Thanks to my Man Mike for the suggestions.

We love, trying new restaurants when traveling and are especially drawn to barbecue places. I have to say this restaurant has such a friendly and enthusiastic team. Because it was our first visit, they extended a behind the scenes tour of the smoker areas out back. What great hospitality! We also were given samples of their smoked brisket chili, which was not on the menu yet and was wonderful! We ordered the sliced brisket - it is available in moist or lean varieties. Our sides were baked beans, cornbread, and potato salad. For $3 more you can add a side of burnt ends, so we did just that. The sweet tea was just what I needed that day - it's the little things! Everything we ordered was very good and I would order the same meal on my next visit. With a bowl of that chili! Overall a great experience from the entire team, and I will certainly be back when I am in the area. A+

Legit, slow smoked authentic bbq. As for the food, I give it a 4.5, but when you factor in the amazing, warm, welcoming staff, you have to give it a five. As soon as you hit the property, you are greeted with delicious aroma and a very welcoming warm energy. This is not a cheap eat spot, but their prices are pretty standard for quality smoked goodness. The brisket was amazing. I'm not sure what wood they use or seasoning, but it had a delicious, unique flavor. Even though the brisket was amazing and said to be the number one seller, the pastrami is the star, in my opinion. The half chicken was smoked perfectly with no rubbery skin.... thank you. The sides are good as well. Everything was seasoned perfectly, just the right amount of everything. I will definitely be a repeat customer, and with their rewards program, I'll be eating at a discount in no time!

When I came here I was looking to celebrate with one of my favorite meals that I don't eat very often - ribs! I decided to try this place out since it's closer and easier to get to than some of the other bbq places in the area. My order was ready FAST and picking it up was a breeze. The dry rub on these babies smelled heavenly but unfortunately they were pretty dry and overcooked. I liked both their mild and mustard sauces and while they both enhanced the experience; I just couldn't get past the toughness of the meat. I'm curious to try some of their other meats next time to see how they compare. All that said, their mac and cheese is straight . I would honestly considering swinging by just to pick up a cup of that. So cheesy and flavorful!

First time in and first impression was just what I was hoping for, laid back and all the smells you would want at a BBQ joint. What had us interested to come by was discovering them at Taste of Cincinnati. You order at the counter where their menu is on the wall from specials to all the meats and sides. I had a hard time picking as everything sounded so good! Now I find it hard to review BBQ food because there are many different ways and styles of this kind of food. You can argue that there's a right way and a wrong way to do BBQ. It's better in this state vs that state or it has to be done this way or that. I have tried a lot of BBQ and honestly have not found my fix in a while. I really was not expecting any thrills just assuming I'd be in the same old BBQ rut. I was pleasantly surprised! My husband and I shared some brisket and burnt ends with sides of mac and coleslaw. Brisket was deliciously juicy and melts in your mouth. Burnt ends had some of the tastiest rub, they were kind of like burnt end nuggets. Unfortunately some of them were pretty tough to chew and dry but when you got a good meaty one it was really good. You really don't need the BBQ sauces when there is so much flavor like these meats had, but theirs were a delicious compliment that included a hot BBQ, a sweet and tangy BBQ and a mustardy sauce. Okay so I know meat is the star of BBQ but this gal also loves her sides! Hands down some of the best coleslaw I've ever had. Was the perfect sweetness with vinegar and seasonings, so fresh it tasted like it's made daily. Mac was good, just a nice simple flavor, but what's really good that I was lucky enough to sample at the Taste of Cincinnati was their mac and cheese with brisket. Now that's a mac and cheese! Service was friendly with being very focused on preparing orders and prepping food. Vibe felt like your neighborhood BBQ with what seemed like a lot of locals coming by to chat and pick up food. We left with full bellies, 2 free stickers and a bright smile from the hostess to come back soon! I'm excited to get my fill next time and try their pastrami and chicken with sweet tea and cornbread too.

I was in this area for an appointment at the barber shop and my barber flaked on me. I sat there waiting for him and I was getting hungrier and hungrier as I waited. I decided to hit Yelp and figure out where I was gonna get some grub when I was tired of waiting on the barber. I love BBQ and I hate that it's so hard to find good, legit BBQ anymore. But, I think I found it here and I can tell they really put the work in to make sure the BBQ is fresh and cooked daily. In my opinion, that's they key to good BBQ. Typically, on the first visit, I tend to order either brisket or pulled pork. But on this particular day, I was already hacked off by the barber flaking on me, so I decided to go all in and get ribs. Dang, they hook it up!! I think there were 5 or 6 ribs on the plate and they were hecka good!! A nice dry rub sprinkled on top and I got the hot BBQ sauce on the side. Most times, BBQ spots have hot BBQ sauce that is not all that spicy. These guys have some spice in their hot BBQ sauce and it made my nose run! That's a good sign. Ribs fell apart on the top side and were a bit tougher on the bone side. I did notice the skin was still attached, which is a huge no-no in Texas and KC, but it's all good. I ordered the baked beans and cornbread for sides. Beans were a bit too saucy and sweet for my taste, but flavors were okay. I dunked my toast in them and that was solid. Cornbread was decent. But, let's get real. I don't really focus much attention on sides at a BBQ spot. I come for carnivorous adventures and not for side dishes. I'll be back for more soon and I think y'all should give them a try.

Came here on a Friday night as they were closing and they were unfortunately out of most of their meat, besides the chicken and pastrami. We opted to try both of the remaining meats and whatever sides they had left for our take out dinner to try to get a full taste for Just Q'in ... the Pastrami was TO DIE FOR - so juicy and full of flavor. We wished we had gotten more of it! The sides were really great as well - we loved the coleslaw and collard greens the most, with the mac and cheese and cornbread following at close seconds. The place itself was very inviting and the people working there beyond welcoming and friendly. We were sad that we could not enjoy the space due to the timing we were there and how they were closing up - but we will definitely be back to try some of the other meats and get more pastrami!

The menu consists of numerous protein and vegetable options including vegan. The Mac N Cheese was a baked homey delight, the fried Okra was a well seasonend crispy goodness that tingled the taste buds with every bite, the collard greens cooked with smoked turkey and cornbread were perfection, the fried catfish was a visual delight; seasoned well and crunchy to the touch. My family members cooed over the cabbage, the sweet potatoes (not from a can), the chicken tenders, chicken wings with multiple sauce selections and the fried, flakey cod fish. I highly recommend the Watermelon Lemonade! Desserts were also on the menu without a doubt. A selection of pies, cakes, banana pudding and I must say the cookies and cream cheesecake cup was a chef's kiss at the end of a wonderful meal. They have a nice outdoor area, which we avoided due to the current heatwave. We ordered two apps - FRIED GREEN TOMATOES - Topped with Libby's pimento cheese, pork belly lardons, bourbon onion jam, and herb oil and FRIED CHICKEN SKINS - Hand breaded and served with hot honey dipping sauce. The fried green tomatoes were nicely plated, though the pork belly lardons and bourbon onion jam did not have the most pleasant color. They were good, but not as great as the description. Fried chicken skin is the thing! I first had it when we lived in California. An Asian market served them up thinly breaded and fried perfectly crispy. I just about jumped out of my skin when I saw it on the menu at Libby's. The breading at Libby's is thick. It's tasty for sure, but it's quite thick. A quick glance at the chicken skins and it looks like full-on chicken. Anyway, they were very good and I would definitely order them again. I had a taste of the hot honey dipping sauce because it spilled. It was good, but for me it detracted from the flavor I'm looking for. I had to have the FRIED BOLOGNA BLT - House smoked bologna, pimento cheese, fried egg, house made BBQ sauce, spring mix lettuce, & sliced green tomato on grilled 16 Bricks sourdough. First, it was huge! I could only eat half. It was very good. All the different flavors mixed together well. It was messy!! It was so obviously messy the server brought over extra napkins without us having to ask! Top Notch! Oh, the mac and cheese side was just okay. I barely touched it. The second half of the sandwich was delicious cold. It was also not messy at all. The leftover mac and cheese had turned inedible in the fridge. I did not mind throwing it out. My friend had the CLASSIC TURKEY CLUB. It was also huge and she only ate half. The fries were crispy and delicious. Mark had THE DOC HOLLADAY. He said it was okay. He also only ate half. I think he enjoyed the cold leftover more. I like the menu; lots of options. The place is cute. The staff is great. We'd definitely come back.

Love. If I can use…read moreone word to describe my experience at Soul Secret, that's it. Love Amore Besotted Take great people (Melinda was our server and the chef came out to check on us...more about Melinda later)... Combine it with great food and great ambiance, and you get this restaurant! The first thing that you notice when you walk in is that it feels like home. Some restaurants focus heavily on decor and leave a lot to be desired in terms of ambiance, the people, and the food. And in other restaurants, you walk in and feel as if you can stay there forever. This is one of those places. We stayed there for a while. Imagine being in Grandmom's living room with pictures on the wall and positive music playing in the background. That's Soul Secrets. The menu is big enough to make sure that everyone can find something to eat, but not so big that you will struggle to make a decision. From fried catfish and grits to French toast to salmon croquettes and the largest pancake on Earth, there is something for everyone. My niece ordered the French toast, and my sister ordered a special breakfast that came with a pancake, grits, eggs, potatoes, and sausage. I was still hungry from last night's meal, (and you can read about it in another review) so I just nibbled off of my sister's meal. The French toast came out first, and I could tell immediately that the chef knew what she was doing. The rest of the food came out, and again, they brought the largest pancake I've ever seen. My sister was treating us today, and I was glad that the menu prices were very reasonable. My niece said that the French toast was delicious, and she ate as much as she could. She has a dance performance tonight and made sure that she didn't put her show at risk. It was difficult for her because the food was so good, but she managed and took a box home to eat it later. Yes. My sister nibbled on everything else and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had the grits and some of the pancake, and I have to say that it was very difficult for me to stop eating because it tasted so good. The pancake was perfectly cooked and fluffy with crispy bits on the edge. The grits were creamy and flavorful, even without cheese. The coffee was great. I had several cups. All in all, it was arguably better than any breakfast I've had at any restaurant that serves it. Now let's get back to Melinda. So often, the dining experience can be directly related to the person that greets you when you take a seat. Thank goodness we were greeted by Melinda. She has one of those energies and personalities that makes you feel as if she has been in your family for years. Funny and friendly, but at the same time, dedicated to making sure that you have a good experience. Again, I felt like I was at someone's home rather than in a restaurant. She called me a "troublemaker," which means that somehow she was seeing the 20-year-old version of me instead of the person that I am today. lol So here's the summary. If you are in Cincinnati and you want a great meal, there are many restaurants to choose from. It appears to be a pretty decent restaurant town. But if you want to FEEL Cincinnati, while feeling right at home and having one of the best meals ever- Soul Secrets is one for the ages.

But the lovely owner/manager came over and said the "drinks are on me" because we waited so long. We appreciated that! The fried chicken was good, but the breading was very salty. The green beans were almost inedible because they were so salty. The mashed potatoes were average. The biscuits were fantastic. The fried deviled eggs were okay. A regular deviled egg is better. The shrimp and grits had a lot going on. The shrimp was lightly battered and fried (?) and the flavor of the dish was bold. I think sauteed shrimp and a little less gravy would make it perfect.

The dry rub wings are my go-to: perfectly seasoned with just the right amount of heat and flavor, and even better when paired with their bama white sauce. If you're leaning sandwich, you can't go wrong with a pulled pork or pulled chicken sammy topped with their Carolina gold sauce--it's tangy, slightly sweet, and completely addictive. And the fries? Thick-cut, crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside--exactly what great fries should be. Beyond the food and drinks, Lucius Q really shines as a place to gather. They have a fantastic event space that comfortably holds around 50 people--perfect for parties or private events. It's also one of the rare downtown spots with plenty of TVs, making it a great place to catch a game.
