Luckily though, I am able to still order takeout via GrabFood delivery. During this Pandemic, I must have ordered 3 or 4 times from Teriyaki Boy using the GrabFood app and I'm usually very satisfied with my orders. I get to order my usual favorites of Chicken Teriyaki, Beef Teppanyaki Ju, and Tempura. I was also able to discover new favorites that I have never tried before such as the Philly Cheese Steak Rolls. Cons: Unfortunately, for some reason the GrabFood delivery service of Teriyaki Boy does not offer any other sushi aside from the California Maki. There's no Salmon Sushi, Tuna Sushi, Salmson Sashimi, Tuna Sashimi etc. Although, I must admit that I have to be more understanding because in these COVID-19 times, business is more difficult and it might be more cumbersome to acquire some ingredients. But still, it would still mean to me to have more sushi options from a Japanese restaurant (via Grab App). Overall: I am very pleased with the service provided by Teriyaki Boy despite these difficult circumstances. The restaurant has managed to find ways to deliver most if not all of our favorite meals and kudos to them for that.

FOOD 5.0 Nama Uni Sashimi (420 PHP) Sea Urchin or sea hedgehogs are those spikey things that I always think about avoiding when going to the beach But, I love them on my plate, It is very sweet and delicate, and it tastes like the sea smells, with a soft, almost creamy texture. A 3-step process starts with a piece of Nori (seaweed wrap), then a slice of cucumber, a hefty plump of uni on top, close it off and surprise your mouth with a taste of the sea. Tofu Gratin (395 PHP) Shrimp flavoured white sauce that's smothered with cheese and lots of it. The gooey feels were just too strong and I couldn't but scrape the pan clean. Every spoonful is a renewed experience, so it doesn't get boring. Assorted Sushi (720 PHP) Their hot dishes overwhelmed our taste buds with clean flavours, which led us to unintentionally ignore this initially. Sushi pieces that are above average in size and offer a refreshing taste. Beef Sukiyaki Iron Hot Pot (530 PHP) Beef Sukiyaki that's filled with a rich broth flavoured by the tender smoked beef. This is a dish to remember and one of the items I will recall and recommend. Tonpei Yaki (430 PHP) A Japanese style Frittata topped with extremely thin slice pork that wiggles from displaced air around it. It looked alive upon my first glance. You'd be wrong to think that these paper thin slices of pork wont satisfy, because flavour is not in volumes, but in density. These melt in your mouth and just release flavour that you'd usually encounter in chunky portions of pork. I for one enjoyed less weight and more flavour. The frittata underneath is fairly standard. SERVICE 4.5 Waiters take pride in the food they serve, we were even prompted to taste the Tofu Gratin first as it's tastiest when hot. They're informative when guiding you through the menu and suggest based on your taste and not the most expensive like in other places. AMBIANCE 4.5 I love places that impress on ambiance and Mangetsu surely did. High ceilings and even a second floor for private functions, this place is well decorated and spacious. It's called Last Home for a reason - not only is it a great place to have dinner and drinks with friends, it's also a great place for you to have that one last night cap. The drinks are relatively cheap, and the food is GREAT. I personally recommend the pares, and the egg rolls. But other than the great food is also the ambiance. It has ample lighting and music, but not too loud where you and your friends end up yelling to each other all night, and the lighting isn't too dark where you don't even remember the faces of the people that you meet there. They're open until late (I honestly have never closed it down, no matter how late I stay) and you will always see a friend, or a friend of a friend who will sooner or later become your friend too. My favorite part? It's one of the few bars in Metro Manila where you can go to alone, have a quiet drink at the bar, and no one will bother you or try to make awkward conversation with you when you so obviously just want to drink your worries away in peace. As much as I love all the bars in Manila, sometimes I just want to sit and drink alone with my thoughts, and Last Home should be your first choice in those moments.

My friends and I were obsessed with this place back in the day but now that I don't study across the street anymore, I only ever get to there whenever I happen to be in the vicinity. Their sushi platters are great if you're feeling particularly hungry but I personally like to order the bento sets. Did I mention that this place is affordable too?

I'd say it's along the lines of Omakase, which is the more popular mid-range Japanese place right now, but I think this is still better. I've gone here so much, I've practically memorized the menu! Some of my favorites are the Gyuniku Teppan, which has these chunks of beef in really great-tasting sauce that I haven't really tasted anywhere else, and it's served with a huge siding of bean sprouts; I like their Fried Rice, their Tofu Furai with its sweet-savory sauce, and their Chicken Teriyaki, a crispy, fried version drizzled in a different teriyaki sauce, not your usual teriyaki-- better. I also maintain that Sushiya has the best, most reasonable bento boxes and sushi platters around. Filling, yummy, great variety, right portioning, and right price point. Choose any main dish and make it Bento to come with miso soup, iced tea, agedashi/fried tofu, bean sprouts, plain/fried rice, and sushi/maki. If that's too much for you, you can always go with the Teishoku sets-- the smaller meal combinations. Nowadays, we can associate the classic green shade with a variety of pizza that markets itself as being a friendly get-together opportunity for your barkada, and the layout involving brick-laden looking walls and classic metal furniture are certainly an upgrade from how we used to have Greenwich pizza on white plastic tables. Understandably, the prices for Greenwich treats have gone up, but their sweet-tasting pizza and their delicious meals, including their classic "Pearl Coolers" treat, that has always been a popular way to beat the heat, has allowed it to flourish in the country as a contending pizza chain.
