I said I'd just like to exchange a gift. She asked who had given it to me and I gave her my friend's name. She said they would not exchange without a receipt. I said I didn't have the receipt (it was a gift) and I felt it would be rude to ask for one. She said if I didn't want to ask for the receipt they wouldn't exchange- even though the transaction is in their POS register. They not only refused, they did it in an incredibly rude tone and manner as I'd barely made it inside the store and was very polite. I just turned around and walked out. I'll never go back. I went in last week looking for a shirt for my husband to be told that "True Grit" no longer made this shirt and was directed to another shirt which I bought. I did ask if I could return and was told yes. I later looked up True Grit and found that they indeed still made the shirt and I was able to order which I did. When I went to return the shirt I had purchased, I was told that their system did not allow them to put the amount back on my card and I would have to take a store credit. This is not told to me when I asked is I could return and it is nowhere on the receipt that this is their practice. Now I have $300 on a charge card for a $150 shirt. If this is what there policy is, they need to tell you upfront or at the list print on the receipt. They could have offered a cash return knowing I was upset or at least get a new system that will allow them to credit your credit card.
