I saw LUCY for a gel manicure. The first thing I said was keep all the length and don't change the shape. She nodded and then proceeded to take of the entire length of my nails, and none of them are the same shape. She put 3 coats of polish, and 3 top coats...they are bumpy and scratched up. There is left over residue all over my cuticles and skin. Please see attached photos. Will be going back tomorrow to have someone look at this mess. I went back in and the entire staff was apologetic except for LUCY. I got a nail fungus called Onychomycosis, from my pedicure at J Nails and Spa, in Englewood Florida! The management at J Nails, refuses to take any responsibility! He even laughed at me and challenged me to prove it! You can clearly see by the line of fungus, that the fungus is only present, directly beneath where the polish was. I do not recommend them. I was there for at least an hour and a half and the guy who I had harry was filing my nails for like 45 minutes and didn't even put the acrylic coat just started painting when I asked for acrylics. He also screwed up on my Christmas Santa hat nail and they were yelling back at each other in Japanese. I was honestly scared, overall the lady upfront was a sweetheart. The women working in there were nice in fact a lady had to come over and do my designs because Harry didn't know what he was doing. The only one he did was the Santa hat, Nail and I'm honestly concerned anyway I do not recommend Harry honestly I'm a little concerned on why he works as a nail tech when he can barely design!!!!!!! read more

I do not recommend this place. Girl at front desk was very nice but my nail tech had horrible customer service, I know her name but I am not going to give it because I don't think that is right. I was in and out in maybe 20 minutes, the ladies to the left and right of me got there way before me and weren't done when I was, it was very rushed. Horrible experience at this salon. They don't do what you ask. They do way more steps in order to charge you more. The owners husband Jimmy? Rude, dismissive, and extremely rough when handling hands and fingers. Talks loudly so everyone can hear about you. I was so embarrassed. I was over charged for a bad manicure the first time and when I went back to have it fixed they charged me again!! They told me it would be a free fix, but charged $35 more dollars. What's worse is the second time they did it looks even more terrible than the first. How they won Best in Englewood is beyond me. Go elsewhere. These people are looking for cash cows. I only wanted a fill as I was visiting and wanted to get them done by my regular nail lady when I got back home. They insisted my nails were too thick and wanted to put a full set on, I said NO as if I did want a full set I would do it with the lady I was used to. They then put me with a guy who just proceeded to put a full set on before I really realized. The nails he put on were so thin and badly sculpted that within a week two nails had broken and the rest are just cracking at all the sides and very weak. They are dreadful. I am so cross I allowed this awful nail shop to do this. My nails normally last me at least a month if not longer, these barely lasted a week and they are broken and already look like they need filling again. Terrible, don't bother. I hate to write bad reviews, but I also hate for other visitors to have their nice nails ruined. read more

The worst mani / pedi I have had in Englewood, Venice area. Took 2 hours for a reg French Pedicure (not gel) He just kept trying to upsell me on getting gel and told me it was NOT possible to do a French Manicure unless it was upgraded to gel. I like my fingernails natural looking and gel usually ruins my nails so I try to keep them healthy. His wife had to step in and do the white lines for him on the pedicure which was bubbly on the surface. So in the end at the owner's insistence I had to pay for the manicure which I did NOT receive along with the 2 hour awful French pedicure! My pedicure was a gift from a friend. My nail technician was a bit aggressive with cuticle cutting and the cheese grater. I was worried that I would get cut. Aside from that fear, which ruined the experience, I am very disappointed in the French polish. Good technique painting and shaping the tips but before I could catch her she covered over them with one coat of clear! No color! And only one coat! Kind of looks creepy! And very skimpy using only one coat. I hated having to pay more than the gift certificate for a French when I'm going to have to take it off at home. Oh well. Never here again. read more

Not a good experience..... I opted for the Royal Pedicure as the description sounded wonderful. Cost was $45. It was honestly the worst pedicure I've ever had. The nail tech seemed very bored....the pressure for the massage portion was not at all like a foot or leg massage.....she applied no pressure whatsoever. She did not use the pumice on me until I asked her at the end of the pedicure.....the owners charged me $35 instead of $45 due to my experience.....the pedicure was not even worth $35.....unfortunately, I will not go there again or recommend it to my friends. read more

And since toes were messed up and calluses still there, i did it myself next day!! Nails awful. Had blood showing through clear!! So many mistakes!! Ripped off my natural nails in a week. Avoid!!! Looks good not worth $$, hrs, back & forth, and all 4 nothing. Nails still off & painful 2 heal. I just said fine, wanted out!!! No way back to fix or use!! Most madening thing on very long time. After reading several reviews from multiple area I selected J Nails. I called to make an appointment with Jimmy and Jenny. Jimmy for a pedicure and Jenny for a fill-in and eyebrow wax. I selected the person and service based on the reviews that I read. When I arrived for the appointment I was informed by Jimmy that he would be doing my fill-in and that Jenny would do my eyebrows and pedicure. I explained to Jimmy that I had gel on my acrylic overlay and prefer to have regular polish, he stated that the regular polish would not look do well after having gel. I conceded to a gel color. Pedicure- I was seated in the chair and asked to select which pedicure service. I selected the $20 pedicure. After the pedicure I was handed a ticket from the man that did the pedicure that had a 35 written on it. He did not identify himself by name. My pedicure was suppose go be done byJenny. Eyebrow wax- was again supposed to be done by Jenny, once again a lady that did not identify herself waxed my eyebrows not Jenny. The total bill $94. I was very busy answering work emails and planning out the remainder of my work day. As I recently relocated here I will be more diligent in my next selection of service providers. I consistently have my nails and pedicure every other week Never again at J Naiils. read more
