After speaking with a smooth talking receptionist at Jared's about what a fine timepiece it is and how they have to mail it to Switzerland to the factory to be diagnosed and repaired at a cost of $500 plus, I knew something had to give and began my Yelp search for a reputable watch repair shop. And so here we are. I found this awesome little watch shop just off of I25 on Arapahoe. As I walked into the lobby and was studying the Tenant listing, an older gentleman came in and after a brief discussion concurred that he and I were going to the same place and that he has been going here for years with excellent results. Long and short of it, James repaired my watch for a fraction of what the Fluffer-Jared people were offering and I will be gifting it to my son. The watch had no service history from the seller I purchased it from, so I fully expected it to need servicing right off the bat. It was a pleasant surprise and I very much appreciated Cherry Creek Watch Co's transparency, they very easily could have taken advantage of me and taken my money. However, upon entering Cherry Creek Watch Company, I was immediately greeted. The horologists, Gyles and Nick, immediately got to work on evaluating my watch. They found the model name and value of my watch. They also took apart the watch and showed me the internals, as well as testing the timing of the watch. Moreover, they re-sized the watch for me. As I was there in the shop talking to Gerald, his assistant popped off the back of the watch and it started running. I agreed to leave the watch with Gerald for cleaning; he said 1.5 to 2 months. After more than 2 months of no contact from Gerald including not returning 2 phone calls and 1 email, I went to retrieve my watch. Nothing had been done but Gerald promised he would get to it within 2 weeks. He called me 2/3 days later (2nd week of Nov) saying the watch looked good but was "sticky" and needed cleaning. I finally retrieved my watch on 1/8/26 after he finally cleaned it. However, he also had broken a spring related to returning the second hand on the watch's stopwatch function (he said it was "weak") and he had polished off the lower half of the numbers on the bezel destroying the tachymeter function. No offer of paying for repairs although he did not cash the check I gave him for the cleaning. I would definitely NOT give him any more business.

Some of their employees will only go off hallmarks instead of taking the time to test precious metals using other testing methods. They did not do any kind of buyout process for the stones in the pieces I melted either. In addition, they lack options to create a custom piece. They only had one fine chain option in gold, which was surprising. I decided not to go that route and instead ordered a designer piece. I waited around for about two months to hear for them. I finally called and was informed there had been an issue with the piece, and it had to be remade, yet no one could tell me why. When the remake came in, it was not what I had discussed with the owner. I opted for another designer piece, but they didn't have it in the length I wanted. They told me they could order it but that I would have to commit to it without even seeing the stone first. I contacted the designer directly and found out that the piece was a standard option on their website and that if I ordered through them, I wouldn't have had to commit if I didn't like the stone. It was too late for me to order directly as HJ had already added the extra length. I should have reached out to the designer sooner. I was charged a hefty labor fee for a minor adjustment to the chain. They made no mention of the labor fee and then claimed they gave me a discount on labor as if they did me a huge favor. Most jewelers I've worked with offer complimentary resizing and minor adjustments when a minimum purchase is met. I was often talked down to and made to feel incompetent through my entire experience. HJ took no accountability for their actions during any of the interactions I had with them. I could have saved a few hundred dollars ordering directly from the designer due to Boulders' hefty taxes/fees and HJ's labor fee. I like to support small businesses, but I wouldn't support this one again.

The whole epoxy to protect the stone was a scam to attempt to cover up the fact that the opal they replaced has a noticeable chunk missing from its face.
