Deep fried 1/2 crabs- bit into the middle and there was no meat just the hard parts. They had nice look clams, bigger than you normally see so I loaded up. Big mistake. They didn't go down well. Very disappointed. The cheese or cheese less wontons had a thin spread on the inside so bad you couldn't even taste it. Other food was dried out.... The worst is that they had raw clams and mussels on ice. Muscles were extremely dry. And the clams looked bad.... We decided to try this place despite some other bad reviews. IT WAS AWFUL. First of all, they make you pay before you even sit down. And don't tell you what the prices are. They charged $6 for my 1 yr old son who ate mandarin oranges and I brought all of his other food. They charged $10.99 for my 2 yr old and my 5 yr old who both ate a muffin, mandarin oranges and crab ragoons. The food was lukewarm at best and some of the food was rock hard from sitting too long. My family and I have been making the 30+ minute drive to visit this location for a number of years now. It is the best Chinese Buffet in the area, and one that has consistently been requested by each member of our family. The food is consistently delicious, fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. The bins on the buffet are well stocked with a wide selection of options to choose from. Our family favorites consist of: Chicken & Broccoli, Honey Chicken, Donuts, Seafood w/ Vegetables, Seafood Combination w Cheese, etc.. There are so many delicious items to just choose one (hence why we visit the buffet)! The chicken is tender and the vegetables are well cooked. Everything is served hot and fresh! The presence of hand sanitizer at the buffet area for customer use has been in place since pre-pandemic, which has demonstrated an attentiveness to the health and care of their customers. The dining area is cleaned and plates are removed promptly from customer tables which again demonstrates an attentiveness to customer care. My only suggestion would be for the replacement of or repair to the booth seating cushions. Many of them are quite worn and in poor repair. This may detract from the ambiance and aesthetics of the environment, but not the quality of the food or the professional service which can always be found at this location. The staff is consistently attentive without hovering, and are welcoming with a pleasant and professional presence. We always feel like our business is appreciated and valued. Our family definitely recommends JA Buffet if you're looking for a good selection of fresh food and a relaxed atmosphere. It's worth the drive. read more

But considering the demographics of the area, I can see how it is understated as an authentic Chinese restaurant. Where to begin? 1. First thing is prepaying for your party. I could understand if it was a large party but not for a table of 4 or single people. Additionally the tip is either done then and there or must be left in cash which is becoming more and more uncommon over time. Only upside I found was we were able to just get up and leave. 2. Food at the buffet is pitiful and sad. Two cold bars along with 4 hot bars. Rice was hiding in a rice cooker on counter. Chicken in almost all dishes was over cooked and hard. Fruit flies are along jello bar and fruit selections. Most other food tasted dry and was oily in comparison to other Chinese buffets. Also a lot of American fare that vastly out numbers Chinese varieties. Sushi bar disappointing was missing basic salmon pieces for rolls. 3. Staff seemed attentive for only two on the floor. However tables sat uncleared in areas that were not being actively seated. 4. General feeling of the restaurant is sad and dim. Bathroom is filthy and in disrepair. Only one sink working and a lack of water pressure throughout. Can't help but wondering how the health department approved this. Overall, the experience was disappointing to say the least and the most shocking. While there are signs around talking about approaching staff if anything seems out of place or is wrong, the staff clearly have turned a blind eye to the state of the restaurant.
