I started out liking how Dr. V., and the staff helped out my dog, but the last visit I may never be back. I brought my dog in because he had something at the base of his tail poking him. Well, I brought him in and one of the vet techs put him up on the table and started examining my dog and out of no where. Dr. V. Yells out, "Don't bother, it's just flea dirt!" I swear I saw the vet tech blush, then put my dog back on the floor. I was so angry! Went to the front desk and there was two pharmaceuticals added to the bill I never asked for. I paid and just left. The next day I tried returning the meds I knew I'd never use but Dr. V. Didn't seem to want to give me a refund. I took my dog to my groomer and told her the story of what happend and asked her to check my dogs tail thinking it might have been foxtails. It was just those little sticky green peas that stick to everything wrapped up in his tail. So, do I go back to that vet? I don't know. Purchased a Groupon for a yearly check up - I told the office before I came that I was using one. They looked me up in the system and told me to come in and that it would be accepted. When I got there they told me that I had apparently used one 6 years ago and couldn't use it again. Why would you not tell me that before we got there? I gave my name, phone number, etc. The whole process from when we got there until we left was over 2 hours, and we had an appointment. Time and money wasted due to incompetent front desk associate. Dr. Mendy and his staff are incredibly helpful and passionate about what they do. That makes a huge difference when you entrust the care and wellness of our furry family members. I have had several visits with them, and each interaction is sincere and reasonable. They do everything needed to assure your pets are healthy and happy, and so do with a smile on their faces. I am still heartbroken for the loss of my Mishka, 15-year-old shih tzu. It has taken me a few weeks to put myself together to write this review without anguish and anger. Mishka had kidney disease and a few GI issues, but she was standing strong. I have spent so much time, money, dedication, and support for her with homeopathic and holistic medicine, acupuncture, ozone therapy, etc. Dr Sandrea, who rescued her few times from pancreatitis suggested to do IV fluids to flush her out when she needed it. Dr. Sandrea, is our amazing primary care vet, and has done a wonderful job taking care of Mishka ! Unfortunately, he does not go to Jacaranda Animal Clinic every day, and when he is not there, Dr Valderrama takes over. This is the reason; I am writing this to create awareness and save other pet's lives and maybe hope that some other parents will be aware and make their own judgment. Dr Valderrama has demonstrated horrible judgment in administering meds that were unwarranted and unjustified. Her "medical expertise" sent 2 of our senior pets over the rainbow bridge before their times (about 6 months apart) . Both times she chose to inject Convenia antibiotics into both of our pets (both with kidney disease) WITHOUT TESTING or looking at their history. Neither of the pets had any infections. Both pets died within 3 days of the injection. She insisted on giving those Convenia shots under a claim that it's safe and will help their overall wellbeing. I questioned her TWICE as to why (Mishka didn't have any infections and has Lots of GI issues and kidney disease). Twice she SWORE that it was Safe and will help her. In the evening into next day, she started with severe vomiting, confusion, Loss of appetite, and dehydration. The 2nd day she woke with a severe breathing problem and gasping for breath!!! That's when we rushed her to the ER and she went directly to the ICU. She developed liquids in her lungs from the amount of vomiting (she was swallowing her own vomit). Two, 2 days later and after extensive treatment and blood transfusion she had a seizure or a stroke IN MY ARMS while I though i was hoping to bring her home from ICU and we had to put her to sleep. MY dog that I saved for 2 years with the help of Dr. Sandrea. and spent her last days of her life, struggling and in the ICU when she needed to be safe at home!!! Our dog went to have her usual IV Fluids and she was killed!! We tried to do the right thing and confront Dr Valderrama in the clinic - of course she denied everything. But the coincidence is too strong. She didn't even know what she was saying... She said "Mishka had Infection and that she had pneumonia". I asked if she took blood work or x-rays. WAIT FOR THE ANSWER She said, "SHE COULD SMELL THE INFECTION". Are you kidding me??? SMELL the infection???? I'm not a Dr but I know enough that it's the biggest BS she could tell an educated pet owner. I yelped "You are an even worse doctor than I thought". She also claimed "Mishka had Low blood pressure when it was in fact high 160 to 180 readings. She has no idea what she treats. She just wants to charge you money for shots and treatments. We are in Pain and In Shock, and We want to let you all know and hope you can make your own assessments of Dr. Valderrama as a doctor. She does NOT have you or your pet's best interest in heart! NEXT IN THE CONVEYER LINE. Maybe Mishka was an older dog, but she still had life in her. I have videos of her the day before when she was getting her acupuncture and PT treatment how alive she was. She walked with our other dogs and ate until the next day when we came across this SO-CALLED Dr. Mishka never should have died like this! Poor judgment, poor treatment, poor justification. She should revisit her degree and take up to date classes and review all the medicine side effects, so she doesn't do this again! Again, we love Dr. Sandrea and the staff, Tiffany, Amanda, and Claudia. Mishka was treated by love from all the staff, and she became a darling of the hospital. We will forever miss our beloved Mishka and this writing is her memory! RIP Mishka and Cookie read more

The techs have always been friendly and helpful. Vet has been knowledgeable. Prices imho are very reasonable. They understand when you have limited funds and will tell you what services should be prioritized. During the Delta Covid wave, the staff here did not wear masks. Maybe some people reading this will think that's a positive, however if this clinic isn't taking small steps to make sure we don't get sick, do you really think they have the best interest of your pet in mind? I love Dr Mendy. My cats have been going here for over 20 years and they are great.... yes, the vet and cats. If you are looking for one of those "designer-mega" offices, stay away. This is a very welcoming, smaller office with one doc and an efficient staff (led by Tiffany) who will love your pet(s). They are there for the long-run so you and your fur-babies can build a relationship. I love that Dr. Mendy makes me feel so welcome every time I'm in whether it's for an annual physical or someone under the weather. And if you baby is not feeling well, they will generally get them in right away. The office always feels clean (very important) and I know even when I hear my baby cry from the backroom, they are doing what's best for her... no, no blood, no don't touch me there. lol I will keep doing the drive and can't imagine the day Dr Mendy might decide to retire. ;-) read more

Have taken various pets to them over the years and they've always proved to be a very caring. Doc has always provided a detailed explanation for any ailments we've had to do over the years, suggested various options, and his fees have always been reasonable from what I know about veterinary bills. Dr. Mendy is a great and caring Doctor. The staff at Jacaranda are very nice and know what they are doing. The wait time was not too long. He took great care of my Fireball (cat) giving him his annual shots. The groupon was worth it! around $50 for all his annual shots and check up. Unfortunately Fireball had gingivitus and needs a thorough dental cleaning and the treatment was about a couple hundred which I can't afford at the moment. I know the vet I take my dog to does it for about $100 cheaper but I'm going to continue shopping around before deciding who to go with. This is a mixed review. While I like the quality of care that I received from the doctor and assistant here, I feel that I was misled with pricing and the coupon I intended to use. I brought my pup in at 14 weeks, needing a booster shot and deworm. I was told I could use a coupon for a "free wellness visit" for new clients. I anticipated paying for the microchipping which I wanted done that day. At the end of the appointment I had a bill for $260. This did include 90 for flea/tick meds because evidently the topical meds weren't effective. But I was still charged almost $100 for the microchipping, and the coupon only removed $60 of what was over a $150 exam. This is false advertising in my opinion and the reason I'm not going back although I did like the doctor. Upon looking at the invoice, their pricing is VERY high as well. Being in school, I needed to try and lower costs where I can, and there are many clinics that are just as awesome without overcharging. I later found out that the animal shelter microchips for $15. Had i known this, I would have had it done there even though I didn't adopt him from Broward. I was also given big sales pushes on the Hills food and Vet Insurance-I was given a free bag of food for Sam but he didn't care much for it although we did finish the bag. The Vet insurance policy the tech was trying to sell me was almost as much as my car payment. It shouldn't cost almost $200 for a normal well-puppy visit and microchipping. I had similar services done at my vet in Maryland for $50-60. When pups need visits every 4-5 weeks, $200 a pop is insane when you're not going to honor your coupon-and I read fine print. read more

Dr Vladamara is the worst. Gave my dog an x-ray said you need to go to er get a better x-ray and ultrasound your dog has fluid in lungs. I told her we just went over this in July you told me the same thing no fluid was found in ultrasound. She charged me over 400$ convinced me to go to er again.went to er no fluid was found. Followed up with her next day she wouldn't take my phone call or make any follow up appointments becsuse I had billing dispute. My dog got worse almost died went back to er it had collapsed trachea. Called Dr vladamara again to get prescription filled she wouldn't fill it told me she wouldn't see me or help me anymore. She scam artist don't go. We have taken our dog here for annual visits since moving to the area, but when we called for estimate for teeth cleaning, the charges suddenly changed when we went for the pre-op visit. Just visited this place and unfortunately I have to be honest. As similar reviews stated, the staff was kind and friendly with my pets, however, I ended up leaving feeling VERY misled and angry about what they offered and cost. It is clear they are paid by a particular RX brand and it is their agenda to push it. I ended up giving the flea/worm medications a shot for convenience, but my advice, try somewhere else that is TRULY concerned with making sure your pet is healthy and that you are informed on what they really do and do not need. I will be researching brands shortly. Ended up feeling like everything was a set-up to attempt to push their particular Rx brand which I'm sure funds them well. There are similar groupons for about the same elsewhere. I used Scarborough for last year's check up and they were wonderful. I went to Dr. Raul Mendy for a couple of occasions and I can't help but say that he and his staff were OUTSTANDING. I went there a couple of times mainly because my Husky, Oreo, had a bad habit of being hyperactive that he somehow broke his left paw.
