My friends and I came here for dinner. They have indoor and outdoor seating, gives a nicer bar vibe! Our waitress was so nice and attentive! I did the half rack of ribs with smashed potatoes. The ribs were alright, meat was tough and the sauce was on the side. The smashed potatoes were really good though! One of my friends got the wings with buffalo sauce and poutine which she really liked. My other friend got the Smoked House Burger and she said it was delicious. I met a good friend for lunch here on April 22nd. I had one of my favourite Jack Astor's lunches of Mild Saucy Chicken Fingers with Sweet Potato Fries. The heat level was just how I wanted it and the sweet potato fries were soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Jack Astor's in the masonville area is always a busy place to eat no matter what day it may be, although they are usually very quick in turning tables and have you seated in about 20-30 mins even on a busy Friday night. Call in advance to book a dinner reservation on the weekends because that's when they are the most busiest! The restaurant itself is always very clean apart from the bar area where you can throw peanut shells on the floor (which is awsome! lol). There is also TV's everywhere so you can always catch the game or those late night sports highlights. Big booths for a more private dinning experience and many of tables as well. Now on to the food. It kinda reminds me of an American roadhouse which steaks, burgers, etc but they also have many other choices including a pad Thai! Personally I haven't tried anything other than the burgers because they are so good. Can get a little on the pricey side depending on what you get but I think the burgers are the perfect bang for your buck. Great portions as well, I mean you'll never leave hungry. For lunch out with my son, Jack Astor's fits the bill. Consistent scrumptious entrees never fail. My favourite, the Asiago chicken bowties are plentiful (excellent leftovers, too!). I love to support restaurants, and we hadn't been to jack astors in years so we thought we would go back and enjoy a family dinner there tonight. This one was the London north location. In the past we had mostly gone to the one in Ancaster Ontario. Sadly we left this location totally disappointed and feeling very RIPPED OFF. UNFORTUNATELY, we started out with a waitress that really didn't want to be there. We could not get menus to work very well on line ( kept saying safari unavailable or viewing in French even though English was checked off ) so we ordered what we normally order in other restaurants. To start, the waitress kept standing there and saying are you ready to order ... no hello my name is .... I felt rushed and didn't see the menu so I asked about the sangria and if they were popular as I order them in many restaurants - she said I don't know. I ordered a white Sangria and she brought me red wine in a decanter and a bottle of juice. The waitress didn't even respond, she just left and came back with even less white wine. I told her I was pretty disappointed with the The sangria which had maybe 2 ounces of wine (which looked ridiculous) on the side with a slice of lemon and a 1/2 strawberry. She didn't care. I later found out that it was $14 ?! You can get a nice sangria at the keg for $8 !! And I needed to order another white wine for $8 for maybe 4 ounces to finish the juice to the side. So one sangria cost $22 .... Seriously ?? Wtf ! My son ordered a corona ( it was the most reasonable off the whole menu for $5 and then a Stella which was ridiculously prices at $10. We ordered the Lobster dip which lukewarm, literally had no lobster and not enough bread or taco chips and was $19 !!! . The Nachos had barely any cheese and about 1/2 cup of ground beef for $24. -- seriously how does a cook send them out looking for pathetic especially when they are easy to make and highly profitable even when done properly We have nachos everywhere and these were the worst for the price they charge. The chicken Sandwiches were $19 each. ( good but not worth $19 ) I didn't both ordering an entree as I was pretty disappointed with what we had ordered already Lastly our son ordered a chocolate chip cookie and when I looked the bill we were charged almost $7.00 and a scoop of cheap ice cream for $3 ( they don't tell you it's extra ) I was shocked to see bill for $10 for a cookie plus tax. Lol. This was a $5 dessert at best with the ice cream Anyways, $142 for 3 people plus we felt obligated to tip so the total was crazy expensive for a less than memorable experience. This will be our last meal at Jack Astors. There are Too many good restaurants with better food and prices to support. I truly can't understand how they get away with this So my advice is to Save your money and time and go elsewhere. I hadn't been to Jack Astor's in quite some time following a subpar meal and mediocre service but I decided to take my chances this past week. We were in the area at another place that rhymes with fear-town and they were wayyyyy over booked for the function we were at so we chose to get some food elsewhere. We were able to find a booth, even though it was quite busy, and were seated quickly. Our waitress was very polite and friendly and checked in on us a few times. My food was delicious. I ordered the nachos (with beef, more on this later) and the portion was huge and awesome as usual. However, they forgot my beef chilli which we were fine with but we didn't want to be charged for it. After my fiancé asked about it, they not only removed the item from our bill I was also given some chilli to take hope for my leftover nachos. I was just expecting to have the chilli add on removed but this was even better. My fiancé had a lobster and crab dip that was apparently amazing. Just had a great meal at Jack Astors. The food was really good...best I've had in a while in a restaurant. However, I almost didn't eat there because when we went in the music was blaring on top of the already noisy atmosphere. I could not have eaten there. It was so loud with a thumping bass, that I would have just left and gone elsewhere except that they found us a table on the patio. So, even though the food was excellent I can only give a 3 star review. Unfortunate. I guess they are trying to appeal to a younger group but I know lots of young people who like all kinds of music but would not like it that loud while they're eating their dinner. So first the bill was incorrect. A regular meal was order and then a kids meal. The issue is that when we placed the call/order;placed the sweet potato fries were added to the kid meal and indicated by us as the 2.97$ add on. The receipt has the sweet potato fries right under the kid meal,but charged at 5.49$.NOT HAPPY. The order was to go no plastic utensils or ketchup was placed in either to go bag even though there were two orders of fries. The regular fries would have been better salted and were somewhat soggy. The garlic bread came with garlic butter on the side that needed to be heated in the microwave and then poured over the top. It would have enhanced the taste/flavour to have the garlic butter already on the bread as it was baked. The regular meal was chicken fingers the sauced and tossed were ordered,but some reason the sauce was on the side rather than on the chicken fingers as the name implied. I am not the biggest fan of Jack Astor's, in fact, I think this restaurant is overhyped. I went out for dinner on a weekday with a group of 6 to Jack Astor's. We were seated immediately, we ordered and the food took more than an hour to be served. Yes, I know we were a large group, but the restaurant wasn't even busy, and it doesn't take an hour to cook for 6 people at a restaurant. Anyway, I got the grilled chicken breast for $15, not bad, not amazing. 2 people ordered steak and they were tiny. Not the best dining experience to say the least. The waitress was nice though :) There's nothing special about anything at Jack Astor's. The food is good, not great. There's not a lot on the menu that I like (personal opinion), and the atmosphere of the restaurant just doesn't feel all that different from other restaurants. The prices are also a bit odd- some items are super cheap while others are stupidly expensive. Would I return? No Should you give it a go? I Love this place! The food is always delicious, the service is always friendly and my order is always quick! Being a Stein Club Member is probably one of the best clubs to be a part of (yes, even better than Costco). Colouring on the tables, even as an adult is always fun! Fun Fact, the wait staff keeps the patrons art that is impressive so you can dust off your artistic skills and it will be added to the wall of fame! After a two year hiatus, I finally decided to try Jack Astor's again. I should've stayed away. The rice dish that I ordered with crispy chicken and vegetables tasted terrible. The sauce was vinegary, like that of spoiled sauce. And the rice was undercooked. The chicken strips ordered by my daughter were bland and flavourless. The fries were limp and mushy. Mediocre. Came here with a large group around the holidays and everything about this meal was forgettable. Ordered a burger and received a basic burger. Nothing stood out about it; the meat was tough, there was no sauce on it (I had to add ketchup), and everything about the burger was just dry. I worked in the kitchen at this location for 5 years from 2008-2013 and I can tell you it's the cleanest place I have ever worked. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that 99% of the food comes in fresh and is prepared to order. And that it is corporate owned so you can guarantee that the ENTIRE kitchen gets scrubbed top to bottom DAILY. That includes the fryer oil. Most places change their oil about once a week. I've had two completely different lunches at this location. One today (Feb 28, 2019 around 1:30 pm). The other experience was on Feb 15th, 2019. The lunch on Feb 15 was good - good service and excellent restaurant manager. Today's lunch was horrible. Bad server, bad food, coffee was old (despite asking for coffee only if it was freshly made), one dish wasn't even warm, the other dish had toppings that shouldn't be on. Great place to eat! Went there for dinner after the show, and were pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. we were greeted at the entrance, with an employee holding the door open for us and greeting us! The waitress was friendly, and knowledgeable, and helped us with the menu. We split a pasta with a chicken breast, and it came already split onto 2 plates. The taste was good, the chicken fantastic! I love Jack Astors in Calgary but hardly go since it is far from our home, so when we wanted to go for supper before we were flying I suggested here. Big mistake. Turns out that they renovated and changed a bunch of things. I ordered the Beer and Cheddar soup, which is my absolute favourite soup. Instead of coming out in a bowl, it came out in a beer mug with a non-alcoholic beer shot. It didn't list the shot on the menu and I didn't want it. It was difficult to fish my soup out of the mug with my spoon, I was not a huge fan at all. The soup tasted the same but the 'fancy' plating kinda ruined it. I also tried the macaroni burger because it was new and the waiter said it was his new fave. I was underwhelmed since the burger had nothing on it except macaroni. No lettuce, or tomato. Just the meat, macaroni, and some bbq sauce. It was pretty bland and super carb heavy. My husband tried the sweet potato thing(?) which is really just a mountain of fries deep fried together. I found that pretty bland as well. The service was pretty ok, but I was just so disappointed with the whole experience. So sad. read more

We have been to this location a few times in the last month after years away. We enjoy the good vibe and atmosphere, and the menu seems to have expanded. The nachos, burgers, beer potato soup, and even the presentation and taste of the French Fries are appealing. The service has been above average on a consistent basis. I look forward to going back here in the coming months, I also think any American's would enjoy Jack Astors as a unique restaurant to try. read more

We have eaten here before and always been pleased. However this time we were disappointed with our service. The food was good was usual, I had the quesadillas which are crispy and spicy. My sons roast beef sandwich was great, my husband enjoyed his Texas roadkill sandwich. The service was extremely slow and it was not a full restaurant.
