Went with my wife before the Goo Goo Dolls concert. We had a grilled chicken sandwich and the peppercorn burger. The food came quickly, was hot and tasty and reasonably priced. The service was abysmal. Our waitress said about five words the entire visit and none of them were "hello" or "thank you". She was not warm, friendly, personable or attentive. We were not offered any refills on our drinks, we asked for refills along with our bill. When the bill came she darted off and after we paid, she literally just left, no "thank you", or "have a good night". I wish I could give a minus score. I was actually looking forward to brunch at this establishment (having eaten there before a year ago) however, I was SHOCKED(!) when whoever was on the floor' 'refused me service' - for breakfast(!). I suppose I was a bit too rough to be served(?!)..absolutely a first for me. It struck me so deeply that I actually went back a few hours later to discuss but I was' 'locked out'! Holy cow! It was such a break from the busy downtown streets of London, it was like stepping into a beautiful diner with wood finishes from the Midwest. Waitress was super nice and attentive but not annoying haha. My bf and I got the cheeseburger and peppercorn burger-delicious. The bun being a triangle threw me off a bit but I didn't mind at all. I usually don't like thick cut fries but their fries were delicious and didn't taste greasy at all. 9/10 lunch! read more

I have to admit this is not my first time here. I have been coming here for my Birthday (yes it is My Birthday!) for 20 years. Maybe not to this location everytime. But yes. That long. There is something about JDees that takes me to Grand Bend, warm summer breezes, sitting on the back patio. Yes I know it's March. But it still does. OK so onto the food. JDees prides itself on ingredients you recognize as food. Today, I had the special which was a BLT with Cream of Mushroom soup. It was large and gluten avoidants would have cried at the size of the bun. It was great! Then I delved into the never never land of Deep Fried Banana Split....well...I will let the picture speak for itself. I can tell you I could not finish it although I dearly wanted to. I would say JDees has a dated interior...old signs, etc. But the Knights crowd loves it and it always jammed on game night. Music: I am 46 today. I grew up with 1980s music. I am not sure why we feel the need to make everyone listen to it. Frankly, I am tired of it. Maybe that would be an additional improvement! A friend of mine (shoutout to Cindy Ma) was in town for a bit so I wanted to take her to a good local joint. We loved it. The burgers are so good here. You can tell that food preparation is taken seriously and that quality is valued. Patties, which are nice and juicy, are served on (what looks like) ciabatta buns - a nice change from the regular softer white hamburger buns you usually see. Ciabatta adds more crunch and texture. Each burger was served with nice leafy greens and tomatoes. J Dee's is conveniently located across from Covent garden and Budweiser Gardens. We came in on a nice and sunny Sunday afternoon, around 1pm, so it wasn't busy at all although I know the place gets packed after Budweiser events. It's a great joint with traditional burgers, wings, fries, and chicken strips and fish 'n' chips. We ordered the Classic burger and the Blue Cheese burger. The classic burger is what it sounds like. It's their juicy burger with the veggies and - ... cream cheese. You just have to trust me when I say it's a combination that people should try more often. A nice creamy change, J. Dee puts a nice spin on a classic burger making it undeniably unique to this restaurant. The blue cheese burger was really good too. Cindy preferred this one to the classic. Blue cheese might not be for everyone but it gave the burger a richer and creamier taste which rounded it off nicely with the refreshing veggies and cruchier bun. The fries - more like wedges - were amazing. Seasoned well, and obviously hand-cut and made in-house, they were pretty perfect fries. A great balance between crispy and soft - not too much potato, just enough. I'd definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a great burger. The atmosphere is great and really casual - like a dive bar. The place has been here since 1985 so they're doing food right. For those wanting a meal after Budweiser events though - be prepared to wait - but it's worth it. I enjoyed this place immensely. I sat at the bar and enjoyed the good conversation of the bar tender and the good. I ate here twice in two days before I performed at the arena across the street and they made sure I was served in a timely manner so I could get to work. The portions are big! And the quality of the food is very good. I enjoyed this place a lot. read more

Worst (and expensive) experience. The server said 8 words to us...what can I get you, the bill? and a g'night. We had the teriyaki burger, it was dripping fat that soaked the bun and left the plain, boring potatoes fries sitting in a pool of grease. The Ceasar (drink) tastes like a glass of Worcestershire sauce and tomato juice. Definitely won't be going back. read more

"Old Ontario car plates above the ceiling, vintage wood carved signs and vinyl covers lining the walls. This place felt like it was transplanted from south of the border. Despite a game in the nearby Budweiser Gardens arena and busier than average lunch shift, the staff was very pleasant. We got a large table for five with no wait. Other interior decorations included mock road signs pointing in fictional directions (Kilkenny avenue anyone?) and an occasional brick wall patch. The hardwood floors were worn in high traffic areas and tables are of a vintage variety, but this only added to the overall diner charm. We enjoyed the place. It could benefit from more emphasis on local beers and already had an impressive list of burger options to choose from. Most options are under $15 which makes it a fairly priced establishment. We left Jdee's Grill happy, the sun was shining outside and it looked like our late Ontario spring was just around the corner. Talking about warm weather, we did not notice a patio. One of the worst restaurants I've ever been to ever, not just in the city, but in my entire life. I went here a few years ago with an old roommate. It was not busy at all, yet it took over one hour for both of us to get our food (we were the only ones there). Thankfully we could see the kitchen from where we were sitting and we could see our server joking around with the cook in the back!! So where the hell was our food?? Not only that but she was clearly sick and the fact that she was STILL working (probably because management made her) was absolutely disgusting. Food itself was fine, but way too expensive, and my roommate had theirs made WRONG and had to get it fixed, causing us to have to wait even longer. We both left reviews the night of on the Facebook page and the manager commented and blamed us for our terrible experience. If you can't already tell I've never been back and have actually convinced a lot of people I know to never go back there either. So basically, f***k the manager, f*** the cook that couldn't even make our meal right, f*** the waitress who made us feel like garbage for being there. Terrible, terrible place read more

I go to J Dee's occasionally for the dish known as "Crispy Cod", which I have with rice, not fries. Their rice, mixed with bits of bell pepper and onion is absolutely the best I've had anywhere. It's hot and freshly cooked, as is the beer-battered cod, hot enough to burn your tongue, if you're not careful. I go shortly after opening, before noon, to avoid the sometimes noisy sports bar atmosphere. The music is non-stop, at a moderate volume. read more

And I swear to god as my witness that the cessar salad was literally just salad with Tatziki sauce. I couldn't believe how much I was paying for such poor quality. And the cessar salad was astonishing. Just go to the grocery store and get cessar dressing. It would atleast taste better than that sad cumshot that was left a top my salad... known for burgers? They knew how to burn them that's for sure. Fresh food, and making things from scratch goes a long way.
