Ken Fovargue Park in Bullhead City seems like a really fun spot, especially if you're looking to beat the heat. The park covers over 11 acres and has something for everyone, although it seems geared towards kids. There are two regulation ball fields, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and easy walking trails if you want to get some steps in. There isn't a ton of shade, though, so be aware. What I love most about this park is that it's geared toward water fun, which is perfect for those scorching Bullhead City summers. The splash pad and municipal pool are always buzzing with families and kids having a great time, and the playgrounds and swing sets keep the little ones entertained. Other handy amenities include a snack bar, public restrooms, and little "ramada" rentals if you want to hang out longer. The park is open daily from 4:30 am to 11:00 pm, so there's plenty of time to enjoy it. Every time I stop by, it feels lively and welcoming. Definitely a great place to spend a few hours with family or friends.

The life guards a very nice and patient with the kids. It's a nice get away for the day with family and friend. The restrooms need attending to in the pool area. Maybe multiple times a day with the use they receive. A good steam cleaning and sanitization would help.

The park has improved since our first visit about 3 summers ago. We come here at least once and we all enjoy it, we get there early morning and leave right before closing. I may add, if you go during the summer, you MUST wear sun protection and bring lots of water, the heat is no joke. The water is really cold which is refreshing on a hot summer day. The staff is very friendly and informative, also very helpful!! My tent blew away during a little windy moment and they helped me bring it back while also providing tips to prevent it from happening again. In the past, we had to get there before the park opened to secure a spot and once capacity was met they didn't allow anyone to enter. This was tough since there were a couple times we didn't make it on time and had to go elsewhere. Now, things have changed, which is a lot more convenient. They only allow the people that have reserved online go in from 7am-11:30am. If you DO NOT have reservations, you will NOT be allowed in before 11:30. At 11:30 they will only allow you in if they haven't reached capacity and it's first come first serve. If you did RSVP and make it after 11:30am, you risk losing your spot since general people will be allowed in at that time.

Many of them were docked right in the beach, resulting in a lot of people ripping through very closely to where people were swimming. Between that and the strong current, this was in my opinion not a very family friendly beach, at least for one with small children.

Sitting on 22…read moreacres right in the heart of Bullhead City, it's basically a giant open dirt field that hosts events throughout the year, plus a small grassy area and a few shaded picnic tables for when you just want to sit and chill. It's open daily from 4:30am to 11pm, which are really long hours, considering. This definitely isn't the prettiest park, and there's not a ton to do. The gravel walking path is short and doesn't really go anywhere, and aside from events and a few trees, it's mostly just a wide open dirt lot. There are also quite a few homeless people who spend time here, even during the day. It's sad, and I'm glad they have a quiet place to rest, but it's worth being aware of your surroundings. Front and center is the John and Olivia McCormick Performing Arts Pavilion, a small open-air venue that really brings the park to life. This is where concerts, plays, and community events happen, and it's the only reason you'd ever want to stop by this park. During the holidays, they also set up a huge (artificial) community Christmas tree that's all lit up, which adds some much-needed festive vibes to the space. There's a large paved parking lot that's shared with the nearby Mohave High School, so getting in and out is easy. Overall, Gary Keith Civic Park isn't a destination park, but I always appreciate having big open public spaces like this that are free and accessible to everyone.
