After being screwed over by U-Haul, I made a few calls to find a Budget truck. Waaaay better choice. They'd let me pick where I wanted to return it (U-Haul wanted it to be returned wherever THEY decided they needed a truck that day...). The guy at Offsite was extremely helpful in dealing with my chaotic situation. He didn't end up having the size truck I needed, but he called around to other locations as I sat in the office & found me one across town and put it on hold until I could get over there. Note: when doing truck rentals you may get better rates on-line (as there are on-line discounts only) or sometimes the individual dealers will cut you a break if you call them directly. Try both ways! BOTTOM LINE: Budget truck rental may be a little more expensive but you can select where you pick up and drop off the truck which makes it a WAY superior choice to U-Haul.

I made the reservations a month before my big move across the US. On the moving day, I was on a tight schedule as I had to arrive at my new home at a certain time. I arrived at the Budget rental place and the lady at the front desy told me that my truck is available, but the dolly that I needed to move my car across the country is not available...."I called to tell you about it yesterday..." Umm ok-so I make the reservation over a month ago and you call the day before to tell me that an important part of my moving sipplies is not available?? Does that make any sense? She kept repeating "but the truck is here"...ok so she got 50% of it, but what about the rest? I even tried speaking to a customer service rep and she was basically useless. It took her 20 mins to look up available car dollys within 100 mile radius and still could not "find" anything available. When I spoke with her again and I suggested she keeps looking, maybe try a larger radius, she said it would take her about 2 hours to get back to me. I was so upset I just told them to forget it and went to a nearby Uhaul instead (which, by the way, was much more helpful and a lot quicker at getting things done). So not only was Budget disorganized, unprofessional and indifferent to my needs, but when I called the customer service department later on and complained, they said "sorry" and that they couldn't do anything more for me. I asked to speak to a manager, but did not get anywhere. These people need a lesson in customer service if you ask me. If you're going to screw up a major thing like that, at least make it up to the customer-a "sorry" just doesn't cut it for me. Needless to say, if you want to avoid hastle and added stress when you're moving, do not reserve with this company.

    Friendly people, good service. I was dropping the truck off at this location after moving from St…read more Clair Shores. My only complaint about the "Plymouth Super Center" at 400 W. Ann Arbor Road is that it's difficult to find because it is located inside a Mobile Gas Station, the parking lot for the trucks is in the back, and there is no sign you can identify from the road as you're approaching the location. Even with using navigation, I passed it the first time. Had to loop around and try again, I did find it the second time. I noticed other people had difficulty finding it as well.

    I reserved a 15' truck for 8/18. At pick-up, I confirmed I had a 15' truck and took the keys. I…read moredrove to a warehouse where I was picking up goods that were 12' in length. Unfortunately, the item would not fit in the truck bed, which is when I realized that I was not given a 15' truck, as contracted for. I was given a 14' "Thrifty Mover" truck. I called U-Haul to complain, and rather than apologize, the cashier repeatedly stated, "We don't carry 14' trucks." I tried to tell her that she was obviously wrong, as the truck I have was a self-titled 14' foot truck, but she refused to listen. All she would say is that she would give me a 17' truck if I wanted to come back. When I returned to the U-Haul center to exchange this non-conforming truck, my complaint was met with denial. Again, the workers tried to tell me that I was wrong because "we don't have 14' trucks - we have 15' trucks." I then noticed a large sign right behind the counter with a list of trucks offered, which included a 14' Thrifty Mover. When I pointed this out to them, their response was: "That's an old and outdated poster! We don't carry 14' trucks now." I have photos proving the truck I drove is labeled as a "14' Thrift Mover" (with the dimensions matching the poster). Even after I clearly proved them wrong, the cashier charged me for the mileage I tolled while driving the wrong size truck to my location and driving it back after I realized it was too small. I received an auto-email from U-Haul asking me to review my recent experience and to email them if I had any problems. Despite sending a negative review AND emailing the order-specific email with my complaint on 8/19, I received no response. I called U-Haul on 9/1 to follow up. I was told there was no record of my complaint, even though they did receive my email. I asked to file a formal complaint. I was given a reference number and was told I would receive a call back within 72 hours. It is now 9/12 and I have received no response.

    BEWARE-initially a nice & friendly place but the tables turned with my mother and I having the same…read morename. We each had different units and rented at different times. The staff became confused with our similar names so they changed our names for their own convenience and without notifying us. This all came to be with my mother passing away and the storage facility started doing unscrupulous business tactics, they created their own mess and refused to correct it. They admitted their errors and provided me with their own documentation to review. Interesting, they are so confused with their own billing mishandling they can't even explain to me what they did-I had to go through their own documents to comprehend their level of incompetence, which is shocking to say the least. They changed customers names, even though they have our driver's license on record, for their own convenience in order to distinguish us. They were paid for their storage unit. Payment is not the issue but their INTERNAL BILLING PRACTICE. They admitted they were confused themselves and left our accounts a mess and have REFUSED TO CORRECT the paid receipts to reflect the proper name of the customer occupying the storage unit. They changed the customer addresses resulting in the wrong customer address on the receipts, charged my card without my authorization to pay on another's persons storage unit and only refunded my card when I received a notification of an unauthorized charge. They assigned legal liability responsibility of the unit because they said someone needs to be held responsible for the unit, although they had a contact for the person responsible for the account and who obviously clean out the unit. I was merely the emergency contact only on the storage unit-I didn't know you could be held legally responsible for something if you're merely an emergency contact person. They sent someone else's receipts to my email address and put my address on the receipt-all reflecting an incorrect name, the name they elected to change/reflect. Many attempts have been made to sit down with them in a reasonable manner to review their own records and they have refused. They manually change documents and falsified records to reflect their own narrative. Now I see how people get wrongfully accused of a crime because I am-it was not my unit and never was my unit. I held my own unit, paid for my own unit and left my unit and took my belongings to another facility where they weren't so scattered and they don't change people names because they have the same name. You have incompetent people who change the course of an account and because they knowingly made the changes refuse to admit their own wrong doing to correct their mistake. All I asked was for them to correct their manually produced receipts 3 of them to reflect the correct name of the person occupying the storage unit, correct the address on the receipts because it is a wrong address and explain their error. But, no! So I am forced to share their level of incompetence and caution you in renting from them. I reported them to the BBB and they refused to respond-because they know they are WRONG.
