I've always envied dog owners who could have their dogs in public places and around other dogs without struggling to hold them and not pulling them all over the place. After researching several dog training services, I settled on Off Leash K9 training. Both Nathan and Beth worked with Ranger, and he responded extremely well to their methods and the eCollar, but even more importantly is the time they took with me helping me to understand how to continue the training between lessons. It doesn't matter how well your dog does during your one hour lessons if you are not willing to put in the the time everyday to reinforce the lessons. I would highly recommend Off Leash K9 Training to anyone who wants an obedient dog who is a pleasure to have with you as a companion in any situation. We can now take Ranger to farmer's markets, dog-friendly restaurants, the beach, wherever dogs are welcome. We continue to work on his commands on our evening walks, take him to places that provide distractions so we can get even better at being in those situations, and keep reinforcing his obedience with tons of "Good boy" praises and lots of love. He's happy. We're happy, and so thankful for Nathan and Beth at Off Leash K9 training.

At that point, I had pretty reliably taught her to sit, stay, and come. What I really needed was on & off leash heel, lie down, and for her to do all of the aforementioned with distractions. I've had my dog since she was 7 weeks old, she is pure-bred pedigreed Labrador Retriever, sweet tempered and quite bright. No behavioral issues! When I came to pick her up after two weeks, she had learned NO additional skills! She would not heel or lie down, and would not come to me when distracted. I return her to the trainer, and expressed my disappointment, that my $3000 was essentially spent on dog sitting. She took my dog back for an another full week at no additional charge. Afterwards she told me that she received NOTHING from her boss for doing this (the franchise owner) and took my dog back simply because she did not want me to be dissatisfied. She made some progress in that final week, but we still have a loooong way to go. I do not fault the trainer! She did her best and took my dog on for an additional week for free. The company is a franchise. She shared with me that the owner is in Greenville, he is not even a dog trainer (she described him as a businessman), and she has never met him. She also shared that she JUST QUIT! Her issue was that 2 weeks is not enough time to train a dog to do all of this things that they advertise. Customers were regularly upset when their expectations weren't met. It takes at least 4-5 weeks to accomplish good on-leash results, let alone off leash. I feel like "Off-Leash" over promised knowing that they would likely underperform. The franchisee relies on internet marketing, and a slick phone call/email/text sales pitch. Perhaps the other training service are good, because the trainer that I met seemed excellent - but with the 2 week board and train, the trainers are set up to fail. I wouldn't call it a "scam" but from my experience, and that of others I have talked with since then, you are VERY unlikely to be satisfied. There are other operations right here in Lexington that will do board and train for 4-5 weeks, charge about the same, and not make any "off leash promises". That seems much more realistic and honest. My experience with Destination Pet has been extremely disappointing, particularly when it comes to…read moreaccountability and communication. I paid for my dog Arya's spay at Midlands Veterinary Hospital. She later went through a heat cycle, and I subsequently found out that she had an ovarian remnant, meaning ovarian tissue was left behind after the spay. So my dog who was supposed to be spayed will now have heat cycles for her entire life. This is not simply a situation where a procedure did not go exactly as expected. Retained ovarian tissue can continue producing reproductive hormones and expose dogs to significant long-term health risks, including stump pyometra, mammary gland tumors, tumors or cysts involving the retained ovarian tissue, and other hormone-related complications. Arya may now require additional monitoring and potentially another surgery because of this. I paid for a procedure specifically intended to eliminate these reproductive risks. Instead, I am now left worrying about health problems that could affect my dog for the rest of her life. I contacted Angela, who is currently the Practice Manager at Midlands. I provided documentation and proof and was told that the records would be reviewed and that I would receive a response. It has now been over a month. I have sent 3-4 follow-up emails and have received no response. I also contacted Destination Pet's corporate office directly and never heard back from them either. I am not expecting complications to be impossible in veterinary medicine. I am expecting accountability, communication, and a willingness to address the situation when a paid surgical procedure does not achieve its intended result. Instead, I have been ignored.

The outdoor play area is great along with the indoor play area for when the weather is bad, no concrete floors like some other places I visited prior to choosing this one. My lab is off the rails with her energy level and they do an excellent job matching her with other dogs in her play group (energy level) - they both come home happy every time- and cannot wait to go back and play with their daycare buddies (both 4 legged and 2 legged). The staff is extremely attentive to all of the dogs needs from what I have experienced over the past year- that is how long I have been bringing them for daycare (2 times a week), overnight, some training and grooming. The CB team does a fantastic job taking care of my dogs during the day and overnight, giving them cuddles, treats and lots of playtime-

We had a geriatric pet some years back, and they actually taught him (an old dog) a new trick while my wife and I were out of town. Now that I have retired from 22 years of active duty military service, I was blessed to be awarded a legitimate (lots of training, and from a good bloodline) Golden Retriever service dog. While she can legally go with me pretty much anywhere in the US, if my wife and I travel to remote locations (such as only accessible by small sea plane/helicopter) due to weight constraints and cabin size, we can't bring our "golden girl". Internationally, some countries don't recognize service dogs as well. So Dog Daze has us covered, and the prices are incredibly reasonable. The only downside is that if you do things last minute, you absolutely won't be able to use them as a resource, because responsible people, who love their dog more than you, planned ahead (sarcasm). On a serious note, plan early, but they can possibly accommodate emergency situations if it's not a busy holiday, especially if your pets shots/vaccines are already in their system. For active duty/veterans they offer 10% off. We really are fortunate to have DD as a Columbia resource, when immediate family or friends aren't able to.
