The 1 star is for schedule department. Another one of my family members had orders sent for a mri for cancer and still has not been contact. The other family member has been waiting since October. I beginning to think the schedule department must have a dart board to determine who they will call. So much money that they cost the hospital. I don't understand why they don't fix the problem instead letting patient go elsewhere. read more

total knee replacement in July. I am very impressed with this hospital and the care I received.

I had a full knee replacement here. The surgeon was Dr. Pickett. From the minute I walked through the door I was treated like a king. As if I was the only one there that day. I know this hospital gets a bad rap a lot but that is purely anecdotal evidence. In my experience with medical care, 99% of bad experience is patient induced. The entire 4th floor staff are amazing. Too many to name but I would compare them to any hospital with a 5star rating. If I ever need another knee I'll be coming back here. read more

1* for attitude 2* for professionalism After being in the Altus area since Jan 2017, I've had to be a "resident" in this hospital 5 separate times with broken bones. First visit in ER was uneventful -- good ER drs & staff -- they sent me home with X-Rays & instructions to F-U with my regular orthopedic surgeon. After the surgery the floor nurses were horrendous (kudos MariaG). They were argumentative with no personal bedside manner. It was like they were robots. The nicest were the CNAs who assisted in personal service. 2nd & 3rd visits were cold & non-personality. The unit clerk or whomever answers the phone on the floor lied to the staff about me. The staff was horrendous but professional -- hardly compassionate or caring. Pre-op nurses are horrible. One blamed me for her blowing a vein when I told her it wouldn't work there. The surgery staff & anesthetists we're wonderful & funny. They are the best personnel in the hospital. Along with the support staff (MRA, CAT, X-Ray, labs, etc). There was only one year that I missed having to be admitted to this hospital. My orthopedic surgeon said my bones were fragile & I had be very careful not to break more. Well, I did. More surgeries & more horrible situations with the nursing staff. ER staff (including doctor, said I was just "...getting old & my body was wearing out." Was very obnoxious on visit before last & last were very condescending & NOT helpful at all. Every rx they gave reacted adversely in my system... opposite effect. No pain medication for excruciating pains. The last visits (surgery & other) were extremely, professionally robotic & gave textbook answers. They were argumentative& seemed extremely stressed & agitated. One CNA told me me had other patients & I was self-centered after me telling her I'd laid there all day with no-attention whatsoever. Drink, wash-cloths, ice packs for pain, et cetera. I waited a whole day & finally got it on last shift!!! Last time I was there for a procedure, I pretty much got the same treatment, until I was moved to another floor. Resident doctors were baffled & guessed. The best resident doctor is Dr Gupta, the best ER dr is Dr McClay. You are pretty sure to get treated right with them. SHOUTOUT TO BEST STAFF: Maria G (4N); Chance, Sherl & Victoria (3N); Kayleigh, Ciera, Bekka (3S); Demy, Max, Marvin, & Justin (4S). ADMISSIONS & TRIAGE are getting worse. Waited 4 hours while not couldn't breathe. The ER staff was rude & condescending last 2X. One of the ER staff told me not to get riled. I told her I don't get riled, I was flustered & annoyed. Her response was, "I'd hate to see you riled!!!" No professionalism. Procedures in Elk City & Clinton hospitals. No problems. They were the more compassionate & caring nursing staff, not much wait, practiced good professionalism! Great interpersonal/bedside manners. Looking to go to Mangum or Elk City if any more hospitalizations. Family member told me people from Jackson County & area say, "JCMH is the place you go to die." I believe it! Ask around & read the other reviews. I have all my incidences documented. Don't forget to document your visit. If it isn't written down, it didn't happen. It's just your word v theirs unless you have told others or have it written down. Do your research. read more

One of the worst hospital my family has ever gone to. They don't want to give you antibiotics, they assume that your conditions aren't serious and send you on your way without any medicine. Grand daughter had a spider bite with two spots forming, and they sent her home without any antibiotics. Next day, the finger got worse. We took her back in and the female doctor refuse to do anything about her finger! Third day, we drove her to Lawton and they popped the huge infected ball of puss and determined it was a serious infection possibly from spider bite. They gave her a shot of antibiotics and prescribed her oral antibiotics for home administration. Daughter feels so much better and is now healing. This hospital needs to be evaluated, and needs more experience in determining proper diagnosis. I feel bad for any one who comes here for serious issues that could be life threaten. read more

I gave 1 star because i can't give minus 5 star. Its bad when you have love ones with covid or anything else and you cant go in and the staff want talk to you or call you back with updates on their condition. I had to go to the e.r. at this hospital while visiting my daughter. luckily, it was early morning and they only had one other patient. I was treated very nicely by the staff immediately on arrival. I don't know the name of the doctor who treated me but she was a young female. treatment given was rxactly what I would have expected at any hospital. I was quite happy with their services. read more
