Mastin Accounting has been falsely advertising its tax services for years. They used to say they…read morewere certified by the IRS; but the IRS doesn't certify any tax preparers. After years of advertising they were IRS Certified they finally changed their ad to not include IRS Certification. They now say they are Fiduciaries, but routine tax preparation or standard accounting services do not in themselves create a fiduciary relationship, though they still require professional care.

They then didn't respond to phone calls or emails. I went to the office during office hours but it was closed. I eventually had to find another accountant to do my taxes. I just moved to the Leesburg area from out of state and needed to file my 2025 taxes. I asked a…read morefamily member who lives in the area and they recommended Tom's Tax service. I arrived for my scheduled appointment and was the girl who was assisting me was very nice, she needed some assistance from her coworker to complete my filing since she was not familiar with my out of state forms, understandable. After all was completed she had me sign all required forms and told me it would be two to three weeks for my return to post to my account. Fast forward twenty four days later and my return still has not posted to my account. I logged into the IRS website and it showed that they had not received my filing yet. I immediately called Tom's and told them that the IRS did not receive my filing, the girl who answered the phone pulled up my file and said "Oh, we need one more signature from you and we called you about it". I told her I never received a call about needing another signature, I even went into my call log to confirm. She could not tell me who called or when they called. She said I would have to come back in to sign the document that they missed. When I went back into the office to sign I asked her again who called me and when and she said she did not have that information and that if she wanted me to escalate it to Tom that he would not get back to me until after April 15th, this was on March 16th. She handed me the page to sign, no sorry for the inconvenience, no sorry for the delay,no sorry you had to come back in,nothing. I understand tax season is a stressful time for this business but you can show a little compassion to your customers.

I got a next day appointment,was seen timely and my tax preparer was professional,knowledgeable and personable. M situation didn't phase her and bing bang boom,taxes done and filed quickly. It cost the same as TurboTax and now that's another resource I now have here. They're also available all year round and I'm sure that will come in handy down the road!
