Joe Jackson and company were wonderfully honest and straight forward from the start, and we ended up getting what I hope will be a terrific piano for our own house. My wife was the St. Louis Symphony's piano technician for decades. She retired after the beating her body took in this demanding profession. Joe knew they had to satisfy someone who truly understood the sound of a perfectly regulated 9 foot Steinway concert grand. Plus a composer who would be tinkling super-softly to find perfect harmonies. Joe and Jan steered us away from instruments that would not have satisfied us. We picked out a Yamaha baby grand and can hardly wait for it to arrive. Joe knows to make it sound and feel as good as humanly possible to please this tough crowd. Stay far away from this business. They talk out of both sides of their mouth. Get you to pay to refurbish your piano on one end then tell you it needs refurbishing on the back end when you try to sell it for less than you put into it already. I was very disappointed with my experience with Jackson Piano. I called to have my piano tuned and no one told me that there would be a 130.00 service charge if they did not tune it. Austin came out and after a few minutes told me it had a cracked sound board and he didn't think it was worth tuning. If someone had told me to check the sound board (which is easy to access) before sending him out I would have seen that. He suggested I buy a new piano from them at about 4000.00 and have them move my piano to a landfill for about 560.00. Not a pleasant experience. read more

They're not very forthcoming on pricing expectations so here's what I wish someone had posted: In September 2023, it would cost approximately $775 to have Jackson Pianos move an upright piano down a 45-inch wide, structurally sound staircase. It costs $125 for a piano inspection. I did not ask for a price to rebuild my piano but received one anyway; they think the piano needs more than $10,000 of work to rebuild and tune the piano. It would be approximately $500 to recycle the piano; it is two steps up on the first floor but the base hauling fee is $400. read more

My wife and I went in to Jackson Pianos a few weeks ago, looking for a good-quality used piano. The had a very wide range to choose from. Although we did not select one that day, I have to say their customer service was excellent. The salesperson and owner actually took the time to show us their work area, pianos in all states of repair and some not started yet. They were down-to-earth, friendly, knowledgeable, and showed a true passion for pianos. Would HIGHLY recommend them if you're in the marked for a good, used piano. read more

I hired Jackson Piano to send a technician to my grandchildren's home to tune a piano in November, 2020. My grandchildren began piano lessons shortly thereafter and the piano teacher noticed the piano was not tuned to a perfect pitch and she recommend that I use the tuner she uses. I did just that and was told by the second piano tuner ( not Jackson Piano) that there was no way the tuning could have been performed in November, 2020. The piano tuner detailed a list of reasons supporting his claim one of which the piano strings were broken when he serviced it, dead moths were in the casing and there were several broken dampers. After I discovered this information, I called Jackson Piano requesting to have a refund. Morgan who identified herself as the co-owner, retaliated and basically told me that I was wrong and she refused to refund the money. Morgan also went on to explain that she doesn't judge customers based on the neighborhoods where they live and that they try to give the same . " Our company is like our child - we built it from the ground up (often sacrificing time with our actual children in order to build it!) and we value it far too much to do something like what you claim - send a technician to do nothing to a piano and charge $125.00service to all regardless of the neighborhood". This statement is troubling because I do not understand what that had to do with my refund request. In a later email, she revealed that she only said that in direct relation to what the technician told her about where my daughter lives. In addition to that, she referred to the piano as a" bad investment and junk" despite the fact she advertises that they restore pianos and work with all kinds. Interestingly enough, the second piano tuner hired has the piano tuned and the kids are excelling in their lessons. The entire interaction I had with Jackson Piano calls into question her business practices. Please consider this review, before you call. I have a sneaking suspicion that she is not ethical and does not stand behind her work. read more

This is the ONLY place that people looking for a piano should consider. They don't bother with inferior instruments, but instead refurbish and revive those finely crafted pianos which play like a dream and sound even better. Their showroom is piano Mecca, filled to capacity with pianos of every size--but not every make, because like I said, they don't waste their time or yours with pianos which are slapped together. The technicians there are amazing artists, as well. The dust-covered, long neglected Baldwin I picked (Jackson found it in a church) is now a pristine, black satin, ivory and ebony keyed GEM, completely refurbished from the inside out. It is AMAZING. What's more is that the folks there will work with you to find the right piano for both you and your budget. You can spend a few hundred and end up with a decent piano, or you can spend more...without any cliche sales pitch. Go there. Really. read more
