I was looking for a decent practice drum set to start playing again. (multi-instrumentalist w/ a studio) I came in on a Thursday and Fred showed me a decent Yamaha Custom set and some low volume cymbals. With a hardware pack it came out to $1,500+/-... Perfect, that is all I wanted to spend on a practice set. I asked if he could hold it for a few days for a couple hundred dollars while I double checked with my wife. I came back a few days later and had to let Fred know an old friend gave me his old Tama Imperialstar shells/snare for almost nothing. I told him I would just be picking up cymbals today, but I will still need to pick out... Fred then proceeded to throw his duster across the room and began having a childish tantrum. Rambling on about its people like me that are putting local businesses out of business. He continued to berate me and clearly showed how angry he was I wasn't picking up that exact drum set. I continued to apologies to deescalate the situation, but Fred continued harassing me. I have never felt so uncomfortable or treated in such a manner by an adult. I tried to tell him I still needed DW Hardware to match my old DW double pedal. I also wanted to pick out additional higher end cymbals... (non-practice set) He continued to be an a-hole. All I could do is purchase the practice cymbals and was forced out the door. If he had any maturity or respect for his customers, I was prepared to walk out the door with about $2k in cymbals that day. I also just got large tax refund and huge bonus. Now I'm forced to buy a new DW Collectors Series drum set somewhere else. (Maybe direct) I always recommend buying local, but it pains me to say, I do NOT recommend Fred Piere Studio Drums.

He laughed and said well I have lots of tips , we have lessons for that. Which I get--nothing is free. But how discouraging for a child simply asking. Then proceeded to talk down to both of us when inquiring about lessons and times. We won't be back and I'll continue to blast how awful they are all over the web/social media .

They have rental for violin, viola, or cello. Also repairs. Since this is a family owned store, I believe it was the owner that helped my son with his violin. I visited Driftwood Music in Saint Charles because I needed work done on my Ukulele. It advertises…read moreitself as a business that has expert repair and restoration services. When I've visited, the staff has always been pleasant and have seemed to understand the concept of Service. I would have been happy to give them a Five Star rating, if it weren't for poor communication. When I dropped my instrument off, the tech told me it would be about a week. I was informed after a couple of days, that they were going to order an additional Tuner set because the one I provided wouldn't fit exactly (I was informed that they would have had to drill new holes in the head, which I didn't really want). The length of time to receive the new part was crazy, until I sent a note and learned the Tuners were miraculously there. Then, when they went to install the new Tuners, they found they had ordered the wrong size and would still need to drill holes in the head-- like the problem that started it all. I was finally able to pick the Ukulele up after 3.5 weeks. Upon review of the work they did, it seems they did a great job. I'm happy with their work! But, as, I mentioned, I didn't give 5 stars because of poor communication.

I ordered a new guitar, but when I received it, it had a bent, selector switch, and a scratch on the back and the tone knob was floating around in the case. I immediately reached out to Griffin and he told me that I would get a full refund. I had read stories about people not getting refunds and so I was a bit nervous. But he followed me every step of the way and his communication was second to none. He would even respond to my emails when he was not at work. Long story short, I returned the guitar and got a full refund with no questions asked. And on top of that, he sent me two Eddie's T-shirts, two sets of strings, and a tuner. You don't come across guys like Griffin very often. He was top-notch and the next time I'm looking for that special guitar. I will certainly reach out to him and give them the business.
