We have used Brian's Mechanical for a few years. We paid for the yearly service. They would come…read moreout twice a year to check our furnace/AC unit. The service techs were always polite, knowledgeable and courteous. If there was an issue with our units, they would suggest a few options we could do and the prices were never outrageous. This past weekend, we had an issue. The outside temps reached 117F, and we woke up Sunday morning to a leak in my kitchen...the furnace is right above the kitchen area and it was pouring out of a pot light..what a mess...I got on the phone with Brian, and he gave me a few solutions and we made an appointment for them to come out..they couldn't come out on Sunday but we were scheduled for Monday! I spoke to him a few times Sunday, sending pictures and explaining what was going on and we followed his suggestions and within a couple hours, the leak stopped!! I am so thankful that I was able to cancel my Monday appointment. Everything was running perfectly...I am super happy with the service Brian gave me. He even called this morning to make sure we didn't need him..if I ever have any issues with my furnace/AC unit, I will be calling Brian's Mechanical for sure!!!

PROS Heating & Air - Mini Split

Heather was very courteous and friendly in scheduling Josh at a time that best worked for me. I…read moredon't usually get home from work until after 5:00PM. The AC at my residence was blowing warm air and was not cooling. When it did cool, the house could not maintain a constant temperature. The AC ended up running non-stop, 24 hours daily. I'm not looking forward to seeing what my electric bill is for this month. Josh arrived on Monday afternoon and was kind enough to wait for me until I got home. He called and asked me if my AC was on. I told him that the compressor or outside fan was running when I left the house that morning. When I checked my phone, I saw that the AC was running. During the course of the day, the temperature in my home had risen from 76 degrees to 80 degrees. Josh told me the fan outside was not turning, indicating that the outside unit was not operating. When I got home, the thermostat was reading 81 degrees. I left the door open to try and let the house air out. Reluctantly, there was no breeze on Monday. After thirty minutes with the door open, the temperature on my home thermostat had risen to 86 degrees. On Sunday, I applied a wet-vac to the two drain lines outside. Despite no water coming out of either line, the bottom line did start to drip again and the outside fan turned itself on. The air inside the house was still not blowing very cold. I tried turning off the unit and running just the fan, in case the coils had become frozen. After several hours, I turned the AC back on and put the fan in "auto" mode. Again, all I got was slightly cooled air. Luckily, despite the AC running constantly, the house cooled a slight bit after the sun went down or usually between 9:00 and 10:00 PM. Josh checked my refrigerant level, found it to be borderline low, and worked on my unit in the attic. To my delight, the compressor was still fine, as was the capacitor and coils. I bought the Lennox Signature Series AC new in 2021. Three years later, it needed a new compressor and 11 pounds of refrigerant. All the refrigerant that the AC had in it prior to the compressor crashing in 2024 had leaked out. Lennox provides a 10-year warranty on parts. Labor is additional. The cost of labor to replace the compressor and Freon amounted to an extra mortgage payment for me in 2024. I was just informed that parts for Lennox and Carrier are manufactured overseas and are often difficult to find replacement parts for. I was also told that it's not uncommon for a Lennox to have problems with the compressor or coil after just a few short years. In hindsight, I wish now that I had not let my brother talk me into buying a Lennox. I told Josh that I almost went to the hardware store on Sunday to buy some spray-on coil cleaner. He advised me to not spray anything on those coils or fins. Thank you for your professionalism and your prompt service PROS. I look forward to a long relationship with you.

In 2015, we purchased a new Lennox system (Merit 5 Ton 15 Seer Split Heat Pump) from Carolina Air Care. We contracted solely with Carolina Air Care for the system's annual maintenance. Within a few years a coil needed to be replaced, and while the unit was under manufacturer warranty, the labor for replacement was not, thus saddling us with a high repair bill. In 2024, within 9 years of purchase, the Lennox system then had such failure that it needed total replacement. We remained a Carolina Air Care customer (our mistake) and purchased a new Rheem system (5 ton 14.3 Seer 2 Split Heat Pump). Again, we contracted solely with Carolina Air Care for annual maintenance. In 2026, just 25 months after purchase, the compressor failed. Carolina Air Care estimated we would incur a several thousand dollar repair cost. To be clear, 2 new HVAC systems of different brands we purchased from Carolina Air Care over 11 years had multiple system failures and short lifespans. We don't have the technical expertise to ferret through the intricacies of the failures (e.g. manufacturing defect, subpar installation/maintenance, our usage pattern, or combinations). And we doubt that Carolina Air Care knows. But our unfortunate experience is that Carolina Air Care's business practice doesn't include it sharing responsibility, even with long-term customers. It took us 11 years to understand that. We have lost trust and moved on to another HVAC company.

Problem is they DON'T stand by their work. They installed a new flexible return air duct for me in 2021. It collapsed, because they didn't adequately support it. The duct was installed with supports appropriately every 10 feet, and should have been supported every 4 to 5' per standards. They charged me AGAIN to replace the duct that was incorrectly installed the first time. BOTTOM LINE: Don't use Carolina Air Care if you want a company that stands by their work.
