The library is tucked away in a shaded and quite area off on San Jose blvd. It's been awhile since I've visited a public library and I was really impressed with this Mandarin branch. There's plenty of parking and easy to access. This library has been here for a long time but the building is well kept and clean. The front desk lady is so nice and friendly, she's always smiling at us when we enter every time. There's a section in the center where they display art works from elementary and middle school students that are so cute and artistic. My little one loves looking at these art work as he browses through the children books section. Story time at this branch for kids from birth to 5 years of age is so great for my little one. He also loves to play in the social area with other kids. They also get to do art and crafts after story time and get to bring home their creations every time. This program is so fun yet educational for kids of all ages.

This library has been here forever.....it is smaller and old, but it is comfortable and a great place to go search around. I like to go to this library compared to the newer South Mandarin branch. I went in recently to get a few books on tape for a long road trip, I ended up picking a great book I have been wanting to read also. They offer kids classes here sometimes you can just look on their bulletin boards and they should tell you about any things going on.

Ever wanted to read a crazy magazine....like this one? you can do it for free!!! Plus no one will know you're the crazy cat lady

Every week, special events happen at branches all over the city. From author presentations like "Lit Chats" (ranging from local authors to James Patterson, yes, the James Patterson!) to special events like the Candlelight Concert series, there's something for everyone. PRO TIP: The $1M Memory Lab on the 4th floor of the Main Library downtown is FREE to use with a JPL card. Ask the Special Collections librarians for help, bring a thumb drive for downloads, and you're all set!

No meter fees since it was 6:00. Parking Lots aren't free. The concert began at 6:45, a bit after the scheduled 6:30. The website insists no late arrivals will be admitted, so beware. We really enjoyed this event. The tickets are reasonably priced. We sat in Zone A but any seat in the house would have yielded the same experience, imo. We arrived shortly after 6. With seating first come first served, we were seated center, second row aisle. The seats are roomy and reasonably comfortable for this hour long event. The venue was absolutely beautiful with all the candles. The string quartet played a mix of Queen (all the popular faves) and works from Mozart and Puccini as well as a few others. I'm very much looking forward to taking in another of these concerts. If you are interested there is another Queen offering upcoming so check out their website as they are offering many others here and other Jacksonville venues. Feverup.com. I'm eyeing the Valentine's Day concert on February 13, 2026, but I'm trying Zone C this time.

It has books (of course), cds, dvds, magazines, computers for research and internet, free wifi, a lovely children section, a meeting room, clean bathrooms, and an elevator. Thanks to the inter-library loan system (brilliant!) you can order any book in the county and have it delivered to your branch for you to pick up (and drop off). In other words, if they don't have it, they should be able to get it for you! The parking lot is small (and on Wednesday nights, full of people attending the church across Cherry Street (grr)) but you can park on Cherry Street and near the ball park without a problem. Plenty of bike space for those who want to ride here.

But I've also used the library services to print and make copies. As the library is one of the cheapest options. You can log into a computer using your library card and access your email to print documents. On this visit, I needed 60 copies for an upcoming meeting. I stopped by the front desk first and I'm so glad I did because the copying process had changed. Chris was so helpful and sweet. She came from behind the desk, walked me to the self service machine where you she assisted me with checking my balance and adding additional funds to my account. You can now use your debit or credit card instead of cash. But cash is still an option. Then she walked me to the copy machine and showed me how to log in. She suggested I print a few copies first to make sure they looked good. Again, she was such a help, because there was a line going down the page that was not on my original copy. She cleaned off the glass and suggested I use that option instead of the manual feed. Voila, the line was gone. If you're looking for a book or need to use the library services, I highly recommend the Pablo Creek location.

They didn't just answer our questions, they went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed. A very special shoutout to Alex. I always get a little nervous telling people we're new to Florida because everything is unfamiliar, but Alex made us feel right at home. She was unbelievably patient, warm, and just an all-around amazing person. You can tell she truly loves helping people, and that kind of service is rare. If there were a way to write a letter to her manager, the library board, or even the Chamber of Commerce recognizing how wonderful she is, I absolutely would. Employees like Alex make a lasting impression and are the reason people keep coming back. Thank you to everyone at the Bartram Trail Branch for making our family feel so welcome. After the Yelp event that I hosted at the downtown Library, I signed up for a library card. I checked out their website and was happy to see I could reserve books at the San Marco location. I was alerted when they were ready for pick up, and they give you ample time to pick them up too. I parked for free right in front of the library, and there was a security guard that greeted me at the door. I picked up my books off the "hold" shelf, and then it was a self check out! I didn't even speak to anyone! I just scanned my card, scanned the books, and left - honor system style. The self check out was so high tech and offered other suggestions based on the books I picked out. There were lots of kids at this location the 3 times I've visited. I didn't explore the library much, but am so happy about the services offered here. I've read 2.5 books so far for the first time in years! I'm a reader now! Thanks Jacksonville Public Library!
