Great library with caring staff the keep that keep the community active with fun public and family friendly events.

Gotta give this place a review now that I am *officially* a member. Got my card yesterday at the super fun Harry Potter Yule Ball. This library is super clean, the staff have always been friendly and the events are so cool! For this Yule Ball they had 3D Printing activities where you could make Harry Potter glasses to take home (oh and btw they hold 3D printing classes for the community), a Fortune Teller, a DJ (shout out to local DJ Mario), costume contest, some freaking quittage non-beer pong. Lol so fun! There is a Scrabble Club, yoga classes, SAT/ACT Prep, guitar lessons, sewing lessons....everything you can think of! Great place, definitely a underutilized and underappreciated gem :)

But I've also used the library services to print and make copies. As the library is one of the cheapest options. You can log into a computer using your library card and access your email to print documents. On this visit, I needed 60 copies for an upcoming meeting. I stopped by the front desk first and I'm so glad I did because the copying process had changed. Chris was so helpful and sweet. She came from behind the desk, walked me to the self service machine where you she assisted me with checking my balance and adding additional funds to my account. You can now use your debit or credit card instead of cash. But cash is still an option. Then she walked me to the copy machine and showed me how to log in. She suggested I print a few copies first to make sure they looked good. Again, she was such a help, because there was a line going down the page that was not on my original copy. She cleaned off the glass and suggested I use that option instead of the manual feed. Voila, the line was gone. If you're looking for a book or need to use the library services, I highly recommend the Pablo Creek location.

When I looked on Yelp, this was the only local bookstore for miles (the next closest is Books-A-Million). They are located within Beaches Town Center and are just one block from Neptune Beach. They are a small but mighty bookstore with plenty of options for everyone. The staff was amazing and quickly asked if we needed help finding anything. I mainly like to read fantasy and was able to find some books I hadn't heard about before. I really enjoyed reading the staff recommendations which are small pieces of paper nestled between the pages of the book. I thought that was such a cute detail and made the shopping experience more interactive. If you love books, I highly recommend checking out The BookMark!

There was a woman behind the counter who was wearing a mask, so I couldn't tell if she was smiling or just looking at us. As group after group of people walked in after us , the same lady greeted them and asked if they needed help. The difference between us and the other groups was that I am a POC. Thinking it was a fluke, my husband (who is white) walked back in with my kids later and was happily greeted by the same woman. Just wow.

I was in the area and needed to mail a friends birthday gift. I walked in and was next in line. Woo hoo! It was lunchtime. Service was fast and friendly! I was happy to learn the postal workers were still getting paid during the government shut down. I bought some Christmas and birthday stamps because I seldom go to the post office. But when I go to the worker next to him and try the same thing, there's never an issue and everything works just fine. Anthony also tells me every time I go up to him that I can just use the self service kiosk, making it clear he does not want to have to deal with me. He grabs packages out of my hand aggressively, and when I hold up my phone for him to scan my QR codes, he physically grabbed my hand roughly and yanked it towards him. I found this incredibly unprofessional and went off on him and walked out. The next time I came in, I went to the self service kiosk instead of going to the counter, as he suggested I do multiple times, and he actually walked out from behind to counter out to the lobby, came up to me and said "hey Katie!" So I guess he was bothered by our interaction to the point of going through the trouble to find out my name, and is trying to intimidate me or something. Just overall weird and unprofessional. I don't know if he's racist, sexist, or just hates everybody in general, but another customer did mention that his 18 year-old daughter came in there and Anthony was yelling spitting in her face and she felt threatened that he would get physically violent with her and left in tears. So I'm not the only woman he's been hostile to. I'm sure that incident was probably reported, but the post office is aware of him being an issue and refuses to do anything about it. So all that to say if you see this worker that goes by the name "Anthony", a larger male with short receding curly hair and freckles on his face, just be warned in advance. He's going to give you a hard time and be rude.

The store in Marsh Landing is large, clean, and well-organized with a good selection of books and helpful employees. There are too many teen-oriented books and toys, but every good business must follow the money. They also used to have a great magazine selection, which has been significantly reduced. The arts section could be larger as well. This location beats going to the competitor in Town Center with the difficult parking. I also like to patronize independent book stores, and we have some great ones in the area. Of course, no one can deny that they occasionally purchase from Amazon, which has been the root cause of the death of independent bookstores.

Sometimes we get a person who is really nice and helpful. Other times, we get a person who rushes us and makes us feel like we're inconveniencing them. It sucks when we get "that" person because we usually forget a question (or few) because we're rushed, and then we have to come back again. Sigh. They call you to the desk and they will discuss your private business with you in front of everyone in the waiting area. Know that when you are finally called to the desk, you can always request to go to a private room in the back with the person. But they are not going to offer this, you have to request it. We always do. My husband's financial aid, etc. is no one else's business. Make sure to use the computer to sign in the second you walk in the door. That's the only way they know you are here. As for calling One Stop, you do have that option, but be prepared to be on hold for as long as an hour sometimes to speak with someone. Also, there are certain things they can't discuss over the phone (like financial aid). Basically, they can only answer general questions over the phone. They do have a copy machine in the waiting area. But it's not as simple as just putting coins in it for a copy. There's a machine next to the copy machine that dispenses plastic cards with money. You have to purchase a card and use the card to make the copies. The copies are .09 cents each once the card is purchased. It's best to come in with your copies already made (like your W2s, etc.). There's a good amount of seating in the waiting area; although, I can't say the seats are very comfortable. One Stop is located in Hicks Hall off of Kernan Blvd. It's one of the newer buildings on campus and it's very nice. Keep in mind that even though it's located on Kernan, the mailing address is still 1 UNF Blvd. The physical address is even listed as 1 UNF Blvd. They do not have a Kernan Blvd address. Good luck with One Stop. Bring your patience. Bring a book. Bring homework. And I hope you get one of the nice, helpful people!
