It was a Saturday, I was new in Bainbridge and did not know where to look. I turned to Yelp and saw positive reviews and called the phone number. By chance, Dr. Petheram was in the office to catch up on paperwork. Luckily for me, he told me to come in to the office and he would have a look. From the first appointment he listened to my concerns, and used a restrained, minimalistic treatment approach. Immediately he worked on loosening up my seized-up, tight, sprain. He has a back stretcher machine that allows the body to be gently mechanically stretched particularly the lumbar (lower) back. He also uses a vibrator to stimulate muscles. He uses a little focussed hammer tool to help with spine alignment. There is very gentle spinal manipulation only as needed. Dr. Petheram is certified in using a laser which greatly reduces inflammation through photo-bio response at the cellular level. Laser was helping me to feel less stiff almost right away. Finally he is certified in "taping" using rock tape. This "tape" technique helps lift the skin over the concerned area, to encourage blood circulation underneath the skin and promotes healing. Within 3 times of going I felt I was really doing much better. Most of all I really appreciated the capable, expert approach, the holistic understanding, and the experienced care I got. You cannot go wrong with Dr. Petheram's expertise. He is a real healer and his kind manner is wonderful. Later on when I had a torn meniscus, I returned to him and he has been supporting my recovery because he would offer solutions for promoting body healing that the orthopedic surgeon simply does not have.

I was referred to Dr. de la Torre by friends and couldn't have been more happy with her care. She answered my long lists of first-time mama questions expertly and patiently; I felt like I could talk to her about everything! She also engaged my husband, so he never felt like an outsider. We always felt respected when seeing her and our visits were never rushed. I even looked forward to them! The most pivotal moment in my son's life came when, in my last week of pregnancy, Dr. de la Torre decided to do one last ultrasound. It isn't common, but she just felt like she wanted to have another peek at the baby. At that ultrasound, we discovered a cyst in my son's brain that required monitoring -- and ultimately, neurosurgery when he was six months old. Perhaps it was a fluke that she ordered the ultrasound at that point, or perhaps she was amazingly attuned. In any case, it saved my baby from a stroke, seizure and/or brain damage -- which our doctors said would've likely occurred without intervention. Needless to say, we are profoundly grateful. My son is fine now, and Dr. de la Torre always asks for updates -- her interest and caring continuing long past the point of his birth. She was very professional, on time, easy to talk to, very knowledgeable and made me feel at ease. She did not rush, took time to talk and honestly I've never felt so comfortable taking to a doctor about symptoms or concerns however minor they may be. And to add to that the pap smear and exam were the least uncomfortable I've had in a long time. I would feel very comfortable recommending her to others and to have her being my doctor when i got pregnant. I actually felt confident in her and am glad i can trust her with any health issues if they should arise. This is important as i usually am in great health but did have a minor issue earlier and visited a few doctors, none of whom inspired the same confidence. Totally unrelated, but if it matters to you, i am glad shes not very old, so i know she will be around for all my pregnancies and baby visits! Her assistant Megan(?) was also sweet,very friendly and unobtrusive. The front office staff were friendly and efficient, i didn't have to wait long to finish paperwork and be taken inside. When I was released he promised me I'd be put back together in 6-8 weeks. So at the 8 week mark, I called him and now he wants me to get a colonoscopy before I get put back together. So I had the colonoscopy April 1st and I call doctor Brakstad's office every week to try to schedule my final surgery and they say he's not here and that they'll take a message and get back to me. Well it's been 3 weeks and they haven't gotten back to me. Now I have to go through the hassle of finding somewhere else to put my intestines back together. I'm lucky I have such an understanding girlfriend.

The horrible performance of his staff drove me to find someone else to perform my surgery. When making appointment, I told the person I spoke with they would need to get hold of archived records from my earlier breast cancer treatment. She said, no problem, they would arrange that. Arrived for first meeting/consultation with Dr. Brakstad - no records were on hand. Left that meeting (on a Friday) having been told that on Monday I would hear from the plastic surgeon he recommends, and that we would move forward with scheduling surgery for the following week. By Wednesday morning, having heard nothing, I call the plastic surgeon's office to see if I can move things along. They have never heard of me, and tell me next week is now booked up. She'll check with Brakstad's office and get back to me. By end of that day, still have heard nothing. From anyone. I guess it's time to go back to the drawing board and find someone else to remove the cancerous tumor from my breast. I sure do hope the two weeks I've wasted on this disorganized operation are not the window of time when cancer cells will have a chance to migrate to other parts of my body.

Only 4-Stars due to the staff being somewhat "pushy" with regards to selling us (wife & I) new glasses. We went in explaining we are retirees on Medicare with Aetna Insurance (supplemental). One of the staff members checked our medical coverage and immediately said we needed to pay $39.00 each for the exams. My wife explained that we shouldn't be charged due to our age and we are diabetic (this exam being our annual check-up), and we've never been charged before. She then checked again and came back and said, "Oh, your exams are free". I understand that LensCrafters is in the business to make money, but being retired and on fixed incomes we cannot afford $400+ for glasses (each). The person assisting us was somewhat reluctant to give us our prescriptions, but my wife was persistent and we obtained copies of our prescriptions. Nice selection of frames with high-class names (Ray Ban, Stetson, etc.), but when you add up the costs of new frames ($188-$200+) and lenses, they quickly become cost prohibitive. As stated in the begging of this review, Dr. Pham was knowledgeable and great to talk with. We'll more than likely be back next year for our annual exams.

He was on time at the hospital, met with me to once again put me at ease, and although the surgery was a bit more involved than we thought, it was performed flawlessly and I am healing rapidly with no complications.
