Since I'd limped along for so long before the surgery, my right hip was almost up my armpit. I knew my core was weak. Nevertheless, I went to PT and did the nonsense exercises requested, but still could not walk without a walker or cane. I then switched to another PT on island. Same story. I just about gave up, but my daughter encouraged me to go to the PT I saw after my first knee replacement. DaVinci had closed on island, so I went to Poulsbo. At first visit, I was properly assessed. The muscles on either side of my sacrum were knotted up and not activating. On second visit, he actually laid hands on me and undid some knots. On third visit, he did a little more and my hips are almost aligned. For the first time in 2 years, I have hope that I'll walk unassisted one day. Travel off island, the therapists at DaVinci really know their stuff and listen. They want to make you well, not keep returning infinitely.

At first appointment I was again diagnosed with weak right leg. As I'm not a PT, I thought maybe I was wrong about the strength of my leg. Different exercises were not making any difference. I took a break from PT, but so longed for a walk in the Grand Forest. I'd had both knees replaced two years ago. After my first knee replacement I went to DaVinci on island. They'd since consolidated their offices to one in Poulsbo. My daughter urged me to return to the therapist I'd seen after my first knee replacement. At first appointment, he listened, laid hands on and laughed when I told him about my 'weak' right leg. Legs and hip joints were all strong. It was the knotted muscles on either side of my sacrum that had my right hip almost up to my armpit. I was that skewed. After 3rd appointment, my hips are almost aligned and for the first time in 2 yrs I am optimistic that one day I'll walk upright without a cane or walker for support. I'm doing actual work on strengthening my core, not my right leg.

Amy developed an effective action plan that led to pain free running and carrying. Amy listened carefully to where my pain was located and provided great exercises for me to do to strengthen the necessary muscles. After three years of daily wear, the cushioning needed to be refurbished. Unfortunately, I had procrastinated on getting this done prior starting my hike on the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in April, 2025. When I reached out to the doctor that ordered my first pair, he was unavailable until after my April departure. Since I was in a hurry, I contacted Pacific Orthotics directly. I spoke to Lizabeth and informed her of my dilemma. She referred me to another doctor at a different location of the same organization whom they also routinely work with and luckily that doctor was also under my insurance plan. She also let me know they would expedite my order once they received it from the doctor's office. Lizabeth was AWESOME!!! Not only that, but she and Eric, Pacific Orthotics' Owner, coordinated with the doctor's office to allow the orthotics to be shipped directly to my home. Not only extremely helpful, but their assistance also saved me a three-hour round trip back into the doctor's office to pick them up. The courier for Pacific Orthotics picked up the order along with my orthotics on Thursday and on Friday (YES! the next day) my refurbished "like new" orthotics were delivered to my home. The fall affected so many aspects of my life, but the hardest to deal with was lack of mobility, that and constant pain. As well as the depression that hit hard with my lack of mobility. My son recommended Living Well Chiropractic, and I scheduled my first appt. Dr Brian and his staff are amazing. His staff work hard at accommodating the patients schedule! I mean they are fantastic. Dr Brian goes over everything at the first few appointments, gives you a map of your treatment plan, and honestly sets you so at ease. It doesn't happen quickly, it takes time getting back to normal; but changes have been dramatic. I was living with constant pain. My pain levels are drastically lower. Walking, just walking was difficult, and over the course of my treatments my walking is so much more stabilized. I'm moving easier, my endurance is stronger. Im tackling things I thought were gone for me. Best decision I ever made was calling Living Well and setting up that first appointment. It just keeps getting better!!
