So, the first time I called Jacqueline (I found her on Google), I asked her for advice in my real estate transaction. I was so impressed with how quickly she replied and was willing to assist me. She said she would charge me a fixed cost of $300 to review my real estate contract and advise me accordingly. She did it promptly and provided her opinion. Next, when I needed an escrow agent, she offered her services for a fixed fee of $695, to which I immediately agreed and sent her the payment. That was on Friday. On Monday, I received an email from my buyer stating that he had backed off and would not be moving forward. I emailed Jacqueline promptly, to which she replied, 'Sorry to hear, no refund will be issued. The end of the story.' She is a professional and knows better, not her problem. I was shocked, to say the least, and furious. Like seriously? Typically, escrow agents don't even charge a dime until the transaction is closed. So, not only did she lose a customer, receive a chargeback, but she also earned a negative review. Wow, bravo Jacqueline! She has never offered to honor the fees for the next closing. And instead rudely replied to me that she has spent her time already. Even though, in all the truth she has not done anything yet. Her reply: "I think I was pretty clear on my previous email. Please review the retainer agreement. There is no refund I am willing to make as the file was opened and time spent on the contract. DO NOT USE THIS LAWYER! I warn you all who are researching a good lawyer she avoids contact after payment and provides subpar unfinished work. Context: She was supposed to provide a contract for Tuesday for a financial settlement between myself and another party. With the potential of engaging with the parties' lawyer and providing small tweaks to the proposed contract. E.g. minor negotiations. As of Monday she received a draft contract and asked me to provide any changes/edits. I promptly did and by Tuesday I had received no revised/finalized contract. It was made clear we had this time constraint and that she could make it upon taking me on. During the period of writing it, she never called me as her client who retained her. After calling with updates on the case, wishing to speak she did not call me back. Her receptionist promised days on days that she would and simply she never did! I then went with my friend IN PERSON to her law office, with a meeting time she had agreed at 2 pm with my friend, yet was too busy to meet with myself her paying client. HUGE RED FLAG. She proceeded to walk into her office/lock the door, close the blinds, and call us from inside offering a partial refund after 20 minutes of arguing and avoiding accountability for not providing the paid service. We have videos of the day and she was given lots of time to rectify the issue before, reviews such as these. As of today 5 days later she has not provided a partial refund, or a response, an appointment to issue said refund/speak, or a phone call back upon myself having phoned her office again. I made my way to this lady's office a so called "law boutique". The last thing I need is a lawyer who thinks that their office is a spa/boutique. Really, I am in need of some serious legal advice not for a mani-pedi treatment! This lady despite her well appearances can be deceiving and she has the entire office surounded by cameras and microphones as if she was the warden in a concentration camp and everyone including her employees are under surveillance. As I sat there waiting without an appointment to see her I noticed that one of her employees said to the other about the usage of a cell phone and office policies. Curious as I was I approached the young ladies and asked about the office policies regarding cell phones, as my cell phone began to ring. This young lady responded by saying that the attorney did not like the use of cell phones in her office because it interfered with the microphones that she uses to listen in on clients conversations as the wait for her. Well after that I picked up my briefcase and walk straight out of that dungeon. I said to myself how could you have employees working there and impose certain provisions upon them limiting their freedom, doesn't this woman understand that the shoulder pads from the 1980s are gone and we are to embrace technology as we know it today, but with in limits and not violating other individuals privacy. She negotiated with this company and had all the equipment removed. The company and also had to install a new roof because of the damage the panels did. She answered back telling me nothing happened yet. -She propose me an offer 20% less of what I owed. I refuse it, since I could have been able to negotiate something much more better by myself. This was the only proposal for debt negotiation that I received from her. -I was sued by them. Finally Jaqueline reappeared and told me and I quote "While we know that the settlement negotiations you hired us for stalled when we couldn't agree on an amount, and we can offer you a credit of $500.00 for that, the retainer for the lawsuit would be $2,500.00 up front and then we charge $250.00 per hour for the representation" -I asked her what were the $1500 for. Also asked her why she never communicate with me on those 3 months. She told me she called, but I didn't find any call from her on my caller ID. -Her answer: "I am agreeable to negotiating the debt in the lawsuit so I am keeping my word" -If I had to hire her so she could negotiate my debt during the judgment, I still don't get what were the $1500 for. -I request an itemized bill to know how was the $1500 spent. -This was her answer: "And it is deemed earned upon receipt. Meaning earned the moment you pay it". Jacqueline Salcines took $8,500 from me and ran. More accurately, she went on vacation. When she first took my case against Gus Machado Ford she created a hope that I would see some good results come as an outcome. On our first meeting she told me that she would keep me informed so I wouldn't have to call her. There were weeks where I wondered if anything was going on. I had to cut checks for two depositions at $1,500 in addition to the amount I paid her. During my deposition she stayed quiet as the other lawyer used a tactic meant to humiliate me into dropping the suit. Then she went on summer vacation. I didn't hear from her in over a month. After I left a message she called me to recommend I drop the suit. She was my last resort as Ford Motor Company and the State of Florida had very little power to take on what was criminal behavior on part of Gus Machado Ford. I constantly emailed to figure out if there were communications at all between the two parties and she consistantly told me that she hadn't heard from them yet. I was never offered advice on any other steps to take against them with no response... not to mention i had to correct the letter of intent 3-4 times before it was even "sent" because she clearly didnt care to listen to what the problem actually was. Unfortunately I would have to rate this office with one star. I opened a simple case with regards to child support and visitation schedule in early January. Both my child's father and I agreed to the terms before even hiring her to represent me. No mediation was needed. It's now August and there is still no final order signed by the judge. There seems to be no sense of urgency regarding my case and find it very upsetting that when I try to contact the office, no one seems to know what's going on. Paperwork is promised to me in a certain timeframe and it never arrives. Jacqueline herself only found time to meet and talk with me on our initial visit which was when I paid the $3,500 retainer. This office has sent me other client emails by mistake and they just forward email conversation between the opposing party instead of contacting me directly to explain the situation. What I believed to be the easiest, fastest case has taken forever. The office wasn't even aware that my final judgment wasn't signed by the judge until after I notified them.
