Jac's Bar was recommended to us by our innkeeper so we stopped in for a late dinner. It's a fairly typical small town bar/restaurant but I felt it was all in very good taste, the menu had good variety, and everything was reasonably priced. We had Beef Nachos (half sheet pan, good portion!) and a Reuben and liked both. We honestly could have shared the nachos and we'd been full. Try the "shit the bed" Aussie Hot Sauce if you stop here, it's reallllly good and medium/hot heat with 35,000 scovilles. We were traveling across America when I stumbled across Jac's. Yelp reviews were good so we took the 12 miles off I-90 to give it a shot. Otherwise we were stuck with chain foods. Kids got to build their own pizza which were very good. There were no prices on the menu due to COVID changing market prices, so I was surprised they were only $5.99. Hubby had the monkey burger with egg, bacon, cheddar and peanut butter which was surprisingly delicious! Very good beef quality, too. My taco salad was very good, as well as so large I took half with me. You must try the fried cheese curds! Outdoor seating was very nice and they let us sit with our dogs. We were heading back from cave tours further south and we were looking for a place to have supper on our way home. Jac's had good reviews so we thought we would give it a try. Jac's is right in the main road that goes through Chatfield. It's in a convenient location. I liked the atmosphere! It is a sports bar with lots of big TVs to watch your game. We found a nice booth in a room that was off of the bar area. The server was friendly and helpful. She was quick to bring our water and put appetizer. We tried the chips that were recommended by someone on Yelp. They were good! The Jac's sauce made them extra good! We decided on a variety of flatbread pizzas. The favorite was the caprese, our daughter liked the chicken bacon ranch and the hubs liked his Reuben flatbread. The disappointment was the buffalo chicken. We wished we would have gotten a variety of minis instead of a regular and minis. It turned out to be too much food. One bummer was that we rarely saw our server after we got the pizzas. I truly have to say I am disappointed. Today we came there after beginning to plan my grandfathers funeral and we came in as a party of 11, which I understand is a larger party but we were being as patient as we could with our server. Our server started off with a nice attitude, but after she walked away she was complaining that "20 year olds don't need to be ordering coffee" Im sorry it was a rough day and I need a pick me up. Then was complaining to her regulars about the party being large. We were going to order pizza which they were not serving which we understood. But she kept making remarks to everyone in the restaurant about "the service is going to be slow since a large group of people came in" She kept making remarks while behind the bar which also happened to be quite literally in ear shot of us. She continued to complain that she didn't have time to answer the phone or run her tables. This is just your reminder to be a kind human. Three of us had lunch today, Sunday, October 10, at Jac's Bar and Grill in Chatfield! When we arrived around 1:00 the bar was busy so we sat in the restaurant area. The food was excellent and the wait staff did a wonderful job serving the folks in both rooms along with dealing with carry out. I would like to give a 5 star rating and then some to the chef for the great food and the 2 waitresses who took our orders, brought out food and bill with a smile! they were exceptionally busy but service was awesome! We ate here while on a weekend getaway. We were impressed with our waitress, who was very knowledgeable, upbeat, friendly and engaging. She told us all about the specials and pointed out some highlights of the menu. We shared the chicken nachos and thought they were great. We also shared the chicken spinach dip sandwich and liked the flavor but a bit too much sauce, making it fairly messy. The chicken was really good, though. Pretty bad experience here, which, as I read other reviews, seems consistent. In short, we waited 70 minutes for our food, with no communication from our server. When we asked, she said it would be 5 more minutes. 20 minutes later, we asked for the manager, who nonchalantly and without any reasonableness to our situation, explained a large party arrived just before us. We told him to get us our bill and we'd be leaving. Suddenly our food arrived. We were very dissatisfied with their attitude about it, especially with a very hungry 4-year-old. Their 'kind' offer to pay for my beer just wasn't sufficient. What made it worse was my interaction with the owner when I contacted her on social media. Attached below is her response, verbatim. You can judge for yourself if you want to support people who act like this. "So sorry you feel in such a manner. My husband, the owner, came in and addressed you as best as we could. We had an unexpected party of 40 show up in our back room, for which you did not understand the fact that we have a small Grill we are a small restaurant small town and we can only accommodate so many people at one time. Sorry that you came in after this group we have to do first in first out we can't jump tickets we can't do favoritism because that would be putting our staff out of line and out of order. Granted you should have been explain this at the time of your seating. If you choose to go ahead and go on all the different social media and blast us, knowing you're a small-business owner respectfully that you would do such a thing, that's your choice. When businesses start out and they have a lot of negativity yes we address it, and again my husband also bought your husband a drink to accommodate for that. We stopped at Jac's for lunch on our way to Niagra Cave. The owner served us himself and was very knowledgeable about the new beers on tap and passionate about the food served. We had two of the specials: fried cod- 3 large fresh battered chunks were top notch and came with fries. The amazing corned turkey sandwich was piled high with meat and melted cheese and served with homemade chips and dipping sauce. The sauce was a little sweet for my taste, but my husband loved it. Service was great and judging by the banter with local patrons, Jac's and its owners are well liked and respected in this little town. The owner was very rude told me if I didn't have a good experience there maybe I shouldn't come back. All because I told her thAt her waitress was being rude and threw a plate on the table when asked for lettuce and tomato for my jac burger when it was supposed to be on it.
