I had a review on here but it disappeared...... Average tasting food heavily msgd, but did I tell you they have stuffed crabs--all you can eat. It's an average Chinese buffet and some of the chicken dishes like General Tso's are Heavily sauced and look soggy, and I probably wouldn't come back if it weren't for those stuffed crabs. They taste almost as good and crabby just like Pappadeaux's. I don't even care if they have imitation crab in them they taste like crab. GET THE CRABS.............and maybe a little average sushi. If you are a dessert lover, the best dessert bakery place is in Castroville, the alsation bakery--gabes or something like that...to die for... read more

I really like their food. There aren't too many smaller towns that have a Chinese buffet so I'm really glad they're here. It's not the biggest buffet but still a pretty good selection with something for everyone. read more

The food was barely warm, the "fresh" cut fruit was pretty much going bad, the sweet tea tasted really old and nasty, it was awkwardly quite in the building and you could hear the other people chewing, the walls were filthy, the food wasn't really worth $36 for two people, there isn't a wide variety to choose from.. the lady seemed kind of upset that I asked for our drinks to be changed to sodas. anyways.. it's not worth your time or money. read more

I'm a recurring customer to this place, sure I'm only 14 and all but I've had my fair share of experiences here. 1, the staff, specifically that guy that waits at the cash register, mainly seen eating rice after 4:00 PM sometimes. He is... rude. The rest of the staff is pure gold, however. The food has a wide-ish variety, just wish they had more desserts, and the ambiance isn't the best, but then again, I just like this place in general because of how straight to the point it is. read more

The Jade buffet in hondo has always had fresh food. The service is always prompt with filling my drinks. Great place to stop for lunch.

The smell was a sweet bubonic plague mix. Once in a lifetime experience. Worlds largest collection of dead flies! With Dr.Suess as head chef...The cold food was hot and the hot food was cold. Jade was the color of the toilet bowl mold. Seriously..Hell has a nicer buffet & my daughter dry heaved in the parking lot for a good 10min. This might be the dirtiest restaurant I have ever been in. The warning signs should have been the street sign not lit up, the entry way smelling funny, or the orange extension cord (with nothing plugged into it) just hanging from the ceiling when you walk in. But I thought, "Hey, I'm from NYC. I have seen worse." I have not. The men's room was so disgustingly filthy that I almost puked when I used it. Tables full of old dishes filled the dining room. The unsweetened tea tasted horrible. How do you mess that up, right? Cold food. A layer of scum over all the soups. Even the white rice tasted funny. I hardly ate anything, paid my $14 bucks and got out of there thinking, "Why hasn't the health dept closed this place down?" I wish I could give negative stars! read more

I had rounds of their Jade's chicken, it's what we call sweet & sour chicken back home and boy that unlocked a long forgotten memory at first taste. Their variety are the most favored in an asian buffet. I like how they cooked most of their seafood. Service member was on point, separating families and large groups to where ppl aren't walking over and across each other. I thought that was very professional! Food was plentiful and was warm....tasted alright. Didn't have to pay extra for the hair in my daughter's food. Iced tea may have been from last week or may have been brewed with dirty dishes, either way, not too tasty. Not a horrible place, but don't expect much. read more

Fairly typical Asian Buffet. Reasonably priced, clean, good service and delicious crab Rangoon. I would return.

This is one of the very few restaurants that I am comfortable eating the food items from the six aisle buffet any time of the day. It is clean...and maintained with fresh hot items. The food is varied and tasty. They have Americanized Chinese dishes. No...not all that authentic in flavor...but, authentic doesn't always play to a family restaurant. I noticed that this restaurant was quieter then I would expect at lunch time. Every one was busy eating and I was the only one looking up from my plate. Spring rolls, chicken egg rolls, sushi, shrimp, crab, stuffed crab, crab salad, chicken dishes, beef dishes, pork dishes, various fish specialities, soups, noodles, salads, fresh fruit, deserts are some of the many items that lined the buffet aisles. What I really enjoyed was that this style of Chinese food left me feeling full and satisfied. The kind of place where you can go to guiltlessly munch out on a bite of this and a bite of that ...each new bite as tasty as the last...until you simply can't eat another bite--no matter how much you want to. Well.... maybe a little cream puff might make the cut. The service was appropriate for a buffet. The beverage order was taken when seated and the checkout cashier was at the exit. The price for an all you can eat buffet and beverage around $10.00. This restaurant garnered the coveted five star for exemplifying simplicity. This review is as much to warn others as it is to be used for evidence in case my husband and I get food poisoning later. The gentleman at the front did not look up from his phone as he welcomed us and told us to pick any seat. That would be okay but almost all tables had not been bussed from earlier diners so we sat where there was a clean spot. Husband walked over to the drink station and fixed his own drink when man at front remained on his phone. When man realized husband was getting drink, he rushed over and told me he'd get mine. Then, he returned to his position behind the counter and on his phone. Most of the food looked as if it had been sitting a long time. I tried to pick out the freshest looking foods to try. Green beans were soggy due to sitting too long. Panko breading on fried zucchini was stale. The buttered seafood was chewy. Everything I tried had been sitting WAY TOO LONG with one exception. The white rice from the rice cooker was very good. The restaurant was filthy. In addition to the unbussed tables, the floor was dirty, the glass doors at the entrance were covered in hand prints, and every surface could have used a good scrub down. I'm guessing the guy at the front doesn't get off his phone long enough to see. An old restaurant adage says, "if you've got time to lean, you've got time to clean"! We were very surprised to find a really good buffet in a small town. We stopped at the other Chinese buffet first and thought it was disgusting. The food had obviously been sitting there for quite awhile (it was 1:15 in the afternoon), but at Jade Buffet the food was constantly being replenished. We're staying in the area for at least a month and I know we'll go back again. The selection was huge and freshly made. If you order off the menu, you will enjoy your meal. Be aware that if you go on a holiday, prices will be dinner prices at lunch. We went on Columbus Day for lunch and were told no lunch menu only dinner. I recommend the General Tso chicken. read more
