It was my first time shopping for a hat, so I appreciated Saoirse's questions, hat suggestions, and active listening skills to help me find something I would like. At one point, Saoirse had to step away, and her colleague tried to help me, but she unfortunately overwhelmed me with hat after hat, not really listening to what I was looking for. Saoirse came back, saw that I was overwhelmed, and insisted that I take a break and come back, which I really appreciated. I didn't end up going back because they didn't have the style and hat that I wanted in my size. However, I did order the hat directly from the milliner when I returned home. Thank you Saoirse for helping me find my first hat!

I've also worn Goorin Bros & Göttmann hats over the years. Fedoras, pork pie, & the mowbray styles are right up my alley. I'm not much into baseball style hats as they just don't fit my head quite right. Hats to me are part fashion & part protection - my bald head needs cover in the summer & cold winters. I recently needed a hat brim adjusted - my shooting range hat for when I'm firing away. I took notice of Cappelleria Bertacchi (Italian Hatcrafter) whenever I was in Gastown previously, so I'd thought I'd give it a go. Even after being in the store a few minutes, the woman at the desk did not acknowledge me until I said hi to her. When I did, she mentioned there were lots of new dresses, and when I asked to try clothes on, she said yes and then proceeded to tell me they were closing in 30 minutes. Ok. This really rubbed me the wrong way. When I tried the clothes on, I didn't see anything I really liked, but when I came out the woman asked how I did, and I told her I didn't find anything I wanted. She came over to me and proclaimed "but we have the best selection!!" and looked at me, and my backpack, then went over to check the dressing room to make sure I wasn't shoplifting. Ok, I get it, I have a backpack but since you couldn't care less about me until after I came out of the dressing room, you missed out on opportunity to see what I brought in the dressing room or see that I had a bag with me. Also, her whole tone towards me basically acted like it was crazy that I wasn't buying anything, and I had to defend to her specifically what I had been looking for. All in all, a crap experience. This store does have some decent clothes but the way this woman treated me gave me such a bad vibe, I'd never want to spend my money there.
