Actually makes me pretty sad to have to write this review. Jade Gourmet was one of the most high value corner Chinese joints in the entire middlesex area for a long time, my whole life pretty much. As of last year, they have jacked their prices up to an absurd amount, not necessarily their fault, but a specialty combo plate used to only cost $13 and now it's $18 in short time. Not a huge difference but it just doesn't feel like value anymore. Jade Gourmet is amazing! With the downfall of 'Bamboo House' after an ownership change (and their ultimately closure), we were looking for another 'go to' Chinese place in Wakefield. I think I've tried pretty much every other one in town. Jade Gourmet beats them all. The food is fresh, well seasoned, and is great American style Chinese. The portions are great, prices a little steep...but you have enough food for many meals. The service is excellent, the main server that is usually there is very friendly and has never got anything wrong on dozens of phone orders I have placed. He is always asking if we need extra sauce, noodles, or anything else. The kitchen is openly viewable and seems to be a clean place. There is only one or two tables in there, so not really a 'sit down' location. Skip the other options in town and just do yourself a favor and go here. read more

I have always gotten a great dinner from them. Their food is always good. Well worth the price. Once, they forgot to put our chicken fingers in the order. They kept trying to call us on a cell phone that we don't usually answer. When we got home, we called them, and they offered to send their delivery guy out to us with just 4 chicken fingers. Jade Gourmet is always our go-to, greasy East coast Chinese food spot when we visit Massachusetts! It's relatively near where my husband and I grew up, so it is always nostalgic when we visit. The worst Chinese food I've ever had!! We tried Jade Gourmet based on the positive reviews and we're so disappointed!! It was literally inedible - we had to order food from another restaurant!! The shrimp were not deveined and were full of dirt, the lo main dishes as dry and flavorless and there were blacks flecks of God only knows what all over everything. We've been getting takeout from Jade a few times a month for several years, and the food is always delicious. We've never had a bad meal, and they're great with special requests. Generous portions, very quick delivery on weekdays, but longer on weekends but worth it! I love the Garlic Noodles, my husband is a huge fan of the General Gao dinner special. Hubby and I were very happy to find this place - the food is very good, and the prices are decent. We'd actually been next door for ice cream, and smelled the aroma coming from Jade Gourmet - and came back for dinner the next night. We ordered two special combos and two appetizers, plus sodas, and the bill came to just over $25. The food came out quickly (we ate there), and the folks who work there are very friendly and polite. Hubby's chicken lo mein was tasty, and the vegetables were very fresh. The appetizers (scallion pancake and egg roll) were both suitably crisp, and not greasy. The scallion pancakes, in fact, were some of the tastiest I've had in some time. I indulged in essentially a pu-pu platter for dinner - boneless spare ribs, beef teriyaki, and crab rangoon, plus pork fried rice. Everything was well-prepared and delicious. The one quibble I had was that the rice seemed under-seasoned, but honestly, it's nothing that a hit of soy sauce couldn't fix. As I write this, I'm eating meal #3 from my order - the serving size is definitely a good deal for the price, and the food holds up well. Gourmet? I think NOT. The waiter was very friendly and the food didn't take so long to come out, but none of us thought the food was anything worth returning for. We ordered: Egg drop soup (which someone put in shrimp in by accident and the party who ordered it ordered it, because it was seafood free), General Gau's (which was OK), veggie fried rice (not very tasty), beef terriyaki (a bit tough and not marinated well enough), Crab Rangoon, and Peking Ravioli. The waiter was very apologetic about the soup and took it off our bill. One of the positives of this place is the duck sauce, which is much more tastier than that pink yucky stuff that we get in the Midwest. Man, I missed that from Northeast Chinese food! The parking is very easy, too and off of Route 1. Also, the place is a good size and I can't see it having a line to get in. I tried this place for the first time and got take out. I'm grateful they're open for take out during the COVID-19 pandemic. The girl taking the order was very friendly and delivered the take out order to my car. I got the dinner plate #14 Beef teriyaki, crab rangoons, pork fried rice and substituted boneless pork instead of chicken fingers. The beef teriyaki was delicious and tender, the crab rangoons were good, but the pork fried rice was so tasteless. It was very brown but had no taste at all, hardly any pork and no onions or anything, not even egg. Pork fried rice is a staple at any Chinese restaurant so I really hope they fix this problem. If they did, I would give it 5 stars, without fixing the pork fried rice, it's a 3 star. read more

Food is excellent, very reasonably priced. This is the great local neighborhood place to order Chinese food. Sometimes difficult to get a hold of via the phone on weekends. However, if you go there you will understand why-place is crazy with phone orders. They should try something new for that. However, it want deter me from ordering there- I just work around it! Really fantastic Chinese food! The crab rangoon was amazing. Super fresh and delicious. The fried rice was top notch. Even the beef and mushroom portion was great and that's one that I find Chinese places get wrong a lot. Apparently, this is right near me and I never noticed it despite going to the pizza place in the same plaza all the time. I'm super observant. Prices were great and the food was what you want when you get Chinese. The man who had my take-out ready to go when I got there was really nice too and concerned about my safety on the icy roads which was sweet. Now that I know this place exists there's no doubt they will be my go to spot for Chinese. This is probably the worst Chinese food takeout I've had in my life. The chicken was inedible and rubbery, as though it had sat in the freezer for a few too many years. The fried rice was somehow burnt. All of the food had a bit of a smoky flavor to it.
