Wei's Asian Cuisine is a very hopping place. I found this because two of my buddies invited me over for a cocktail and some food. I didn't know this restaurant existed. I was extremely surprised that I knew the proprietor from back in the day when he worked at a friend of mine's Asian restaurant. Wei is an awesome guy, polite, well mannered, and very customer oriented. It was great to catch up on a few mutual friends. as for the food when I arrived, my friends have already ordered so we had a few fried dishes some of which I haven't had for a while, but I do enjoy. we had jumbo shrimp and we also had the calamari. We had a bunch of beef teriyaki which was delicious as was everything else and there was also a dish with a bunch of mixed vegetables and beef with tasted like a oyster sauce and it was excellent. I enjoyed a cup of hot green tea. My buddies had some vodka and cranberries which came out looking fabulous and they enjoyed immensely. The location is a rather small side at a very small mall little plaza with maybe about 8 to 10 storefront. When you walk in, you have a separate section with some tables then you have a divider there are three more tables and about 15 spots at the sit at bar. The location was very clean and kept. The bar was very organized and it was jampacked with people. The place was hopping. It was a Sunday afternoon about lunchtime. People were watching the Pats. The takeout seem to run very well as I saw a lot of bags exiting the kitchen quickly. This is definitely one of the local hotspots for Asian cuisine. I was surprised the parking lot was so full, but there are a lot of spots for such a small plaza and I found one no problem. I definitely would suggest that you head over and give the food a try. New Chinese restaurant located at 21 Broadway complex in Wakefield. Came by to try takeout for their grand opening. The food was ready promptly and they seemed to be busy for their first day in business. Staff was nice and prompt. I only tried the shrimp chow foon so this is the only food I can give feedback on. It was fine, can't say it was amazing, but given I only tried one dish, I would definitely return to try something else. I'll caveat this feedback with the fact that I usually go to Chinatown for Chinese food, so my bar for good chow foon is not what you generally find in the suburbs. They seem to have good hours including late hours on the weekend and a bar. read more

I moved back to Massachusetts a couple of years ago and since have been craving good Chinese food that I remember when I previously lived here. Today after searching for a place near me for delivery, I thought I would give Wei's Asian Cuisine a try. I think I've found what I've been looking for. Love everything I ordered, crab rangoon, egg foo young, pad thai, and shrimp fried rice. Everything tastes great and fresh. Food was great!! Ordered peppery fried shrimp, fish, and pork chops along with regular items and each was seasoned to perfection and crust/coating had that nice crunch that I like. Service was great as waiter answered all our questions and helped us with drink selection. The place is just right not too big or too small and even short people like me can reach the bar. Pretty decent Chinese restaurant with a few authentic dishes -- especially my favorite, the twin lobsters, which were a great deal at $40. However, there were a few issues with the service and food quality: 1. The female waitress got my order wrong. 2. I found a large piece of rubber in my lobster dish. When I brought it to the male waiter's attention, he just said, "Oh, okay, I'll let the chef know," with no follow-up. 3. I had leftovers -- four items -- and asked to take them home. The waitress combined my wings and another dish in the same container, which I didn't appreciate. Also, the food was a bit too salty for my taste. Overall, the food was okay, but I hope they improve the service and pay more attention to customer concerns in the future. read more

We tried them on New Years Eve. They had a little bump in the road with timing of orders even though we ordered earlier in the day. I think their computer system was new to the employees and tricky to get our time frame down. Since then we have been back for take out. I enjoy all the options and look forward to a dine in opportunity. It is upgraded and I like the layout with the new bar. Looking forward to having this option in town again. read more

"Wei" love the food. The owner Wei is very welcoming and was telling us his specials he would be having in the future. Food was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The staff were very nice and on point. Easy check out with QR code. Lots of parking. Big group seatings available. I suggest calling ahead to make reservations. Went for lunch. Served right away. I got the large bowl of wonton soup. It's a huge bowl lol but I ate all of it. Delicious. We also got pupu platter for 2 and servings are very generous. With 3 of us there was still leftovers. Also got the sesame beef. Everything was delicious. They have keno and even though the bar was full the noise level was fine and conversations was fine. What a hidden gem. I am surprised that people are not lining up outside their door to eat there. In my opinion they have some of the best Chinese food I ever had. We had the garlic eggplant and the Stir fried Tofu. The two dished were perfectly done in both taste and texture. Very reasonable prices as well. Upon calling the young man who fucked up my initial order, said no Michael worked there; then the ignorant condescending white girl, said he's not there and they don't know when he's coming back. We've struggled to find a consistent Chinese food restaurant in the area and Wei's is our current go to. The food is good and you always know what you're going to get. The service is quick and the food is always ready when they say it will be. It's nice they have the option to eat in with plenty of comfortable seating. read more

I was excited by all the five stars since I've been looking for a new go-to Chinese food restaurant. Unfortunately, this is not it. The food wasn't bad. Decent, and I would eat it again, but there is just a difference in taste and even texture between average Chinese food and great Chinese food. I would give it 3.5* overall. One thing I will comment on directly is the Crab Rangoon. It was mostly cream cheese and onion. I wanted less onion and more crab. One positive is that it was nice to see an option for different levels of heat on some items. I don't see that at many Chinese food restaurants. It was also interesting to see an option to upgrade my chicken to white meat... The best tasting item was the egg drop soup, though it was slightly peppery. Can't beat the atmosphere. Wei is hands on and gets to know his customers. You can find him mingling or behind the bar. Let's start with the heroes of the meal: the salt and pepper pork chops, dusted with that MSG magic that makes them dangerously addictive. Crispy, flavorful, and just the right amount of salty goodness--it's like they know exactly what your soul needs. Then there are the generous beef and chicken stir-fry dishes--Yum!!! Now, every great tale has its villains, and sadly, this meal had two. First up: the steamed rice, which had big "cheap filler" energy. It was short-grained, starchy, speckled, and overall, just not living up to its full potential. Basically, this was the supporting actor that should've been cut from the final script. Then there was the indifferent waitress with a ponytail and dark-rimmed glasses, who seemed committed to the art of not smiling. Everyone else was great, but she might be taking customer service advice from a brick wall. Overall, would I return? Absolutely. Would I avoid the rice and bring my best charm offensive to try and crack a smile from the unbothered waitress? Also yes. My wife and I were always a fan of Wei's bartending skills at another Chinese restaurant in Lynn. When we heard that he opened his own place, we couldn't wait to try it out. We went last night and were very happy with everything! The food was absolutely delicious, every dish cooked to perfection. I ordered the clams in black sauce which I had eaten recently at a different, famous restaurant, and Wei's version blew them out of the water! This is my new go-to Asian restaurant. The Peking pan fried ravioli was excellent. Great flavor and perfectly fried. The chicken wings were also perfectly crispy. The hot and sour soup was very good. I've went there twice in just over a month. First time was a take out with combination plates and this time was to eat in with the choice of sitting at their nice table setup or bar service. We were very casual so we sat at the bar. Whether it is Wei's take out or eat in, their food, drink and customer service is excellent! Started out ok. food was ready for pick up in a timely manner, egg rolls and spare ribs were on par. It took a turn with the entrees. It was our first time trying this place so we went with classic general gau chicken, it was over-sauced and soggy, but we figure maybe just over-steamed in transport (although the broccoli was still completely raw). The most upsetting part were the HAIRS we found in our Kung Pao Beef. A hair never hurt anyone, but it did put us off our meal. I don't think we will be returning after that experience. read more

We ordered house fried rice (has everything in it) but they brought shrimp fried rice. It was very bland. The Szechuan chicken was very good but the tiniest plate for $18 bucks?!?! This establishment features extremely poor service and inconsiderate waitstaff. The place was nearly empty when I arrived and I was invited to seat myself. It was early evening and one other table was occupied in the section where I was seated. After about 20 minutes their server brought their food. I was able to get that server's attention and requested a glass of water. I was told that they would alert my server and asked to please be patient. Got take-out at this new place in town - replacement for Feng's chinese? I ordered the pork FR combo with chix wings (2 doubles), beef teriyaki (1) and a spring roll; I also ordered chicken lo mien. The Good: chix wings were big, juicy and flavorful - deep fried to perfection. The beef teriyaki was tender and tasty. The fried spring roll was the size of an eggroll... hot and crispy, average taste profile - nothing special, and if it stayed in the container I could see it getting soggy. The FR was tasty and full of pork. I liked that they provided hot mustard and 'duck' sauce. The Bad: the lo mien was tasteless and while had enough chix and bean sprouts was entirely uninspired. NO TASTE! As for The Ugly, there wasn't anything to speak of. I'd like to try another noodle dish and an entree at some point but they seem to have good apps. I'd give it a 3.5 if I could.
