I think I found my new favorite go-to for American Chinese food in Peabody. Lucky House is a take out only spot which has on site parking which again, is a plus in my book. I always judge how good the is going to be by the chicken fingers and crab Rangoon both which were delicious!!! The chicken fingers were soft but had a crunch. And the Rangoon were fresh , hot and creamy ! We also ordered the scallion pancake , it was crunchy , not soggy and a great addition to our dinner! I will be coming back. read more

Delivery was great, food was good (usual American-Chinese stuff...General Tso's, Lo Mein, etc). The fried rice was very tasty, and I think the dumplings were homemade, which is an excellent change from the Costco wontons that a lot of places serve. Prices were very reasonable. read more

The girl who takes the orders, her name is Cindy not a very nice person. She thinks she understands English and she speaks it not too good. The service is not that great. They'll tell you 25 minutes but what they mean is 45 minutes very sad also, one time I saw a rat that can't be good. Usually the food's pretty good especially the appetizers but it's not always that good sometimes they overcook different appetizers. Nobody else there speaks half decent English. Very sad. I love this place. The food is always hot and fresh. We do take out as it is too small to really eat inside, but you can. Owners are so nice. I go every month sometimes twice. I'm here on vacation with my best friend and we found this place accidentally. BEST CHINESE FOOD I've ever had. So much flavor, in their garlic sauce and don't even get me started on the wings. I had my food delivered through Seamless. The delivery guy was polite and called to make sure it arrived at the correct house (I live in one of those houses hidden behind another house). The food arrived hot. Hot like where I have to sit and wait for it to cool down. I ordered vegetable fried rice, a spring roll, steamed edamame, and vegetable chow mei fun. I haven't seen mei fun on a menu since I lived in NYC so I was excited to order that. Mei Fun is the super thing string noodles. All of the veggies were cooked well. Some places the veggies are pretty much still raw and too crunchy but not this place! I also got some fortune cookies which again they never did back in NYC! And the delivery was quick! read more

The rice was good... That's about all I can say good about this establishment. The ordeal began when I arrived at the restaurant. I had ordered and paid for a take out meal online. When I arrived at the restaurant some fifteen minutes later they picked the order off of the printer and started cooking it. As I sat in the sparsely appointed dining area waiting for my order I was treated to the spectacle of a very elderly Chinese man arguing extremely loudly, in presumably Chinese, with a younger anorexic looking Chinese girl. The yelling continued as the other woman in the store tried taking a telephone order This all went down as the dubious looking open kitchen prepared the order in record time. When I got the food home it was a major disappointment. The roast pork chow mein was served in a strange flavored red sauce. The strips of pork in the chow mein were tough and chewy. The pan fried pork dumplings were fried on one side only and doughy and relatively uncooked on the other side. The beef teriyaki was tough and stringy. At least the roast pork fried rice was good. All of their sides are decent... But their main dishes all have this same musty old sock taste to them. I don't know how to describe it other than that. I got seafood udon and veggies with brown sauce and they both had the same horrible after taste. I got my sister chicken lo mein and she barely touched it because that also had the same taste. I ordered from here before this incident and had the same problem. I decided I'd give them a second chance. Maybe that day was an off day. Who knows, I try to be a nice person. Decided to order here last night for NYE instead of our usual place. Order was placed at 645pm and we were given a 745 estimate. When we hadn't heard anything by 825, we called back and were assured that our food was being made right then and would be on its way soon. Around 9, we called again and were told they were just waiting for the delivery driver. At 945 we called again and the phone was disconnected, at which point we ordered from our usual place and got our food in 20 minutes. Lucky house called us back at 1145, FIVE HOURS after we placed our order, and asked if we still wanted our order. I understand that NYE is a busy night for Chinese restaurants but this place clearly did not have their shit together. Luckily for us there are other perfectly good, consistent, and reliable places near us and we have no reason to ever order from Lucky House again. read more

Update: Usually I'm not much of a complainer.... there was also a long black hair in my chicken with mixed veggies....and I'm blonde. I can't help but be a bit grossed out as I just read a different review with the same case. We have been searching for a good take out Chinese place. After a lot of fails...this was our last try before taking ourselves back to Melrose and giving up. I'm glad we gave it a try!! We usually have a great experience ordering from here, but we recently ordered a bunch of vegetarian options and there was some pork in the veg fried rice. It's not the end of the world for us (we literally just went vegetarian last week so we're not exactly sitting on a high horse) but for most people who don't eat meat for ethical or religious reasons, that's just not okay. The food is great, prices aren't bad. The only issue I have with this place is that the order-taker(s) don't communicate very effectively (read..don't speak English very well). We have had trouble twice when ordering over the phone, even to the point where we had to call back to try again after communications broke down. Chicken finger batter was so mealy, not crispy at all. Crab rangoons were OK but didn't taste or see any crab in them. On Xmas eve I placed an order of all my favourite lucky house dishes to hold me over Xmas eve and Xmas. $56.00 worth. The delivery was fast - but the food a. Made me sick and b.
