Between the compound/open fracture and the other broken bones, my morning started off tragically wrong. Thankfully, Dr. Tam is more skilled than all the king's horses and all the king's men because he was able to put me back together again! Dr. Tam impressed me with his straight-forward "this is what I would do if it were me" approach. I like options, but he isn't afraid to tell you what the best option is. Before surgery, he put his hand on my shoulder and let told me, "You'll be alright." He assured me he would do his best. His tone and the warmth of a human touch comforted me. I was very impressed by his skill. This isn't his first rodeo and he is very familiar with the ins and outs of surgery. I'm pretty sure he gave me a Borg implant, take a look at the picture and tell me what you think! I hope I don't start saying, "Resistance is futile!" I was sent to the Lindenhurst office on a Saturday in the rain and there was no clear entrance. I was outside in the rain with torn ankle ligaments for over 25 minutes unable to reach anyone via phone. Dr Kankare was pleasant and professional and although I was in pain he told me to buy Naproxen over the counter and prescribed no medication.. He gave me a doctors note for two weeks out of work due to injury. On Sunday I was in inscruiating pain and called for over 2.5 hours the numbers on the business card I received at my visit before I was finally contacted by the doctor. Dr. Kankare was adamant about not giving pain medicine stating take motrin. After crying hysterically he agreed to send meds to my pharmacy. I had 3 MRI's on 5/14/18. I emailed the practice Disability forms today required by my employer since Dr. Kankare put me out for two weeks due to no being able to put weight on my ankle or knee and I received a call from Dana stating I needed to pay to have the work disability forms completed. I will seek care somewhere else. This practice has no compassion professional or common courtesy.

I wear a 7.5 shoe and the boot was for 10.5 and bigger. The boot was heavy and hard to avoid hitting furniture and other obstructions. This placed a torque on the ankle and probably hindered the ankle healing. Also upon leaving they asked me if i wanted a disk of the x-rays. I asked them to be emailed in which they replied ok. After not receiving I called and they said they cannot email. Overall the PA appeared competent, but then it digressed.

I had to spend $4,000 to have fat removed from my butt because it had been moved to put in the hip. The hip was fine so I couldn't sue for malpractice. I tried communicating with the lead doctor to see if they could reimburse at least half of what I spent with no response. I looked deformed. I have a 7" scar that is about 1" wide. When I hear from other women that they have small imperceptible scar and I see that their profile is symmetrical I'm triggered. The other docs & PA's may be fine but I would go elsewhere for a hip replacement.

I booked through ZocDoc, so it didn't actually generate a true appointment with the younger Dr. Hertz. I would have understood being moved to a different day, but on a busy Sunday, they still fit my daughter in to see the other Dr. (Howard) Hertz. Yes, there was a wait, which is to be expected on a Sunday and I brought a book. My daughter wanted to go in alone (her first time) and she was very apprehensive, and had been distressed in the days prior due to intensifying discomfort and broad symptoms. She came out of her visit extremely relieved, her concerns addressed, and with some testing appointments scheduled. She is afraid of blood draws, and said the nurses gave her an alcohol pad to sniff (normally I am there with her, so she was probably more anxious). In her entire medical history, she has always felt like any symptom she asked about was unaddressed, and the change in her demeanor after her visit was immediate - she was no longer scared she was seriously ill or on the verge of death. So on a busy Sunday, Dr. Hertz had a billion patients and still managed to make my sensitive/shy teenager feel heard, seen, and safe. I wasn't present so I didn't get the chance to explain her distress and discomfort, and he and the nurses noticed and addressed it anyway. My daughter is relaxed now and feels relieved, and I am so impressed that every person with whom she interacted made her feel safer and calmer. And I finally got to read my book!
