It's hard to know how many times I've visited Jaidee because I don't always check in but all my meals have been great. Sure, some have been better than others but every one has been enjoyable. I've lived out of the area for years, but this place had some good reviews so I sought it out. Very good! I got the drunken noodles with tofu, and it was definitely tastier than I've had other places. The flavor and spice were right on target. The atmosphere was nicer than expected, but it's not a large place so I imagine it gets full quickly. There was only one waitress, which should have been plenty for the five occupied tables, but she struggled a bit and forgot the guy next to me asked for space and he didn't yet have it when I left. My only small complaint is portion sizes. It was about the same cost as other Thai restaurants I've been to, but less food. I can usually get enough for a second meal at home, but in this case I brought home just enough for a snack later. read more

This is the second time we tried Jaidee Thai, and it was even better than the first! This time I had the Pineapple Curry, a red curry with pineapple and it was amazing! The owner is on site and made special accommodations for my wife and mother, who are both diabetic. The food was incredible and the price was very reasonable. We came in an hr before closing with a party of 7 and they quickly made us feel at home and welcome. Don't hesitate to try this place out. One of the best Thai restaurants I've ever tried. read more

Jaidee Thai Restaurant's menu consists of appetizers such as pork buns, soups, and salads; entrees such as curries, noodles, fried rice, and specials; a few desserts; and several beverages. My husband and I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. At the front door, an employee immediately greeted us and walked us over to a clean table. I appreciated that every other table was unused in order to socially distance, that the employees wore face masks, and that they had a few bottles of hand sanitizer sitting out. Our waiter, Weston, promptly took our order, brought out our food and drinks, checked in with us periodically, and made friendly talk. The women's bathroom was clean and had a bench and chair. Here are my reviews for our foods: Crispy spring rolls - 4.5 stars - These rolls were made of glass noodles, cabbage, and carrots and were served with a sweet chili sauce. I liked that they were hot and crispy. Crab rangoon - 4.5 stars - These rangoon had a crispy dough, contained tasty imitation crab meat, cream cheese, and green onions, and were served with a sweet sauce. I really enjoyed the taste, but the center filling was cold. Crispy milk - 4 stars - I had never before eaten crispy milk, so I asked the waiter what it was. He explained that it tastes sort of like a funnel cake or pancake mix. He was right! The crispy milk was oval-shaped and consisted of batter with a sweet filling. (See my attached photo.) Green curry with chicken - 5 stars - I had requested a spiciness level of medium, and the cook did exactly that. This entree had a wonderful balance of spiciness and sweetness, and it contained a good amount of chicken and vegetables. Pad see ew - 4 stars - My husband ate this entree. It contained flat rice noodles with egg, bok choy, broccoli, cabbage, and a sauce. He does not enjoy discussing his food, but he described it as "good," "fine," and "perfectly tasty but not the greatest ever." Place is located near Altoona campus and in a strip mall shopping center. Not very big so my recommendation is to call and see for reservations or be prepared to wait a little while. Seems like they do a good business and the women who work there were very friendly. Since we were doing take out we walked up the counter and ordered, waiting near the restrooms and then paying upon receipt of the bubble teas. Overall it wasn't bad. With a thicccer straw you get the bubble immediately- wonder if it would make more sense to use a regular straw as well and alternate so you don't eat all the bubbles immediately? Don't know. I ordered a green tea which was good - nothing too fancy. And it allows me to knock another odd food off my list. Vog would be proud. Place looked clean and staff attentive. A friend had recommended Jaidee Thai so I stopped by on my recent trip into Altoona. I hadn't ordered ahead so when I got there the hostess opened the door and gave me a menu, then took my order. As I waited you could see a number of people coming by to do curb side pickup. The hostess and people inside were wearing masks. They had to have you sign the credit card receipt, but they had a container of "clean" and "dirty" pens that they would wipe down with sanitizer after they were used. I very much appreciated the restaurant taking the pandemic seriously. I got a green curry with tofu and it was packed with vegetables and had a great taste. When you order a curry they ask you how hot you'd like it. Overall I highly recommend this place! read more

We were excited to try a new place and don't visit Altoona very often. This place is situated in a sort of shopping strip but don't let that fool this place is awesome!! It's tiny when first entering so if you're planning on taking a large group or going during peak hours make a reservation. This place had a steady line of people picking up to go orders and coming in. We had a mango and a strawberry boba tea. Super fresh and delish and both of us agreed the mango was better. Green curry was SO good. Like so good I would drive an hour just to come back here. Also had the massamun curry and it was nice and creamy with lots of peanuts. Jaidee Thai has amazing Thai food! I always get the "Red Curry" at the highest spice level, and my partner gets the "Spicy Basil Fried Rice". For awhile we got takeout, then we began eating-in once the restaurant opened back up. Unfortunately, it looked like many of the recipes were changed, at least for both of our favorite go-to dishes. It's disappointing to have a favorite change to an unrecognizable dish. Last time I ordered the curry they offered additional spices for the heat level I was accustomed to, and both vegetable add-ins changed. read more

I gave up meat and sweets for Lent and was looking for vegetarian alternatives with an ethnic twist. Googled and found this treasure. What a find! The fried tofu alternative dishes were out of this world. Big on flavor which I prefer being a Cajun from Texas. The manager and server Tricia was delightful and helpful. The kind of person you would want to be friends with. I will definitely be back. And when I have fulfilled my Lentin devotion, look forward to going back and trying the meat and seafood dishes.
