A WASTE OF TIME! I only needed them to hang a door in my room (a standard 30"x80")…read more 1st : they are UNLICENSED 2nd : they lied about having the skill to install a door. The border was already installed, yet it took them over 4 hours to install the wooden door slab + they were an additional 2 hours LATE (6hrs in total). 3rd : they came unprepared (I had to supply a hammer and an extension cord) 4th : When they "finished" the door scraped against the floor and wouldn't close. Now I can't use bedroom door! 5th : they DAMAGED the door frame! 6th : 2 guys showed up for the job... one LEFT UNANNOUNCED and didn't return. I felt bad for the other guy (who is also THE OWNER of Jack of All Tradez, Robert Queves), so I paid him half of the cost. Then, he and I agreed that he'd come the next day (early in the morning) to fix their mistakes for the other half... He NEVER CALLED and NEVER SHOWED UP. I LOST MONEY and have to rehire someone to fix their botched job. Overall HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. ***IMPORTANT: THE OWNER called me CURSING and SHOUTING at me about my review. Sigh. This is going to be a LONG day. He had to move all the heavy furniture himself & damaged a piece. He was dismissive & unapologetic (laughed) but made a feeble attempt at "repair" when confronted. Also, each time his phone rang (which was constant) he would drop & stop everything to yak only to eventually cradle the phone & try to paint. Not a reassuring picture! Of course, he couldn't finish so had to come the next day. Next day, he brought an additional guy (I suspect because HE was in a rush to finish because he had another job planned) but tried to skip out without putting any furniture/pictures back in place (again had to be confronted), left soiled papers strewn about & refused to give me a receipt for a cash payment even though told repeatedly beforehand one was needed as proof of payment. (I had to to make one up right there, on the spot for him to sign). He acts as if HE's the boss. Unless you set him straight. Bottom line: You'll have to be assertive (he's that guy) otherwise, he'll walk all over you & take advantage. And even then, it'll only be an ok job.

Late last fall, we moved into a house…read morein Queens, which required a decent amount of work given the age of the building - our scope of work included refinishing flooring, painting the entire building (4 floors), basement refinishing, changing lighting structure, installation of handrails throughout the house, and bathroom remodeling. As you can imagine, contracting is a stressful process, especially since it requires a lot of trust and the size of the investment. We wanted to find someone who could handle the entire scope of work. After soliciting ~5 quotes, we chose Tomas since he seemed the most knowledgeable about safety codes, asked questions that reflected his knowledge of construction (many general contractors just outsource work while Tomas does a significant amount himself), he had a quote that included everything (allowed us to pick out materials and to pay for cost differences versus the assumed budgeted amount, we could just tell Tomas what materials we wanted and he would pick it up for implementation), and the final price was very reasonable. We ended up having him paint our old Brooklyn apartment as well since we were so pleased with working with him. PROS: - Tomas is very trust-worthy and can handle very large projects reliably. In a situation where he saw a safety issue in our boiler room, he went above and beyond to cover the room in metal sheeting for fire containment. We gave him our keys for entry/exit for several months and didn't worry about security. Tomas is very honest and we really appreciated his expertise and hard work - Tomas can handle projects of different types so it made the renovation process much easier. We could add on additional jobs which came at a reasonable price. Unlike various contracting horror stories, we had a really good experience and felt that he was very fair and upfront about costs - Tomas does quality work and doesn't try to nickel/dime for his work. (EX: for our Brooklyn painting job, we had a painter quote added fees for closet doors, an additional fee for one crack in the wall, and an additional fee for the ceiling height in the kitchen. Tomas just gave one quote and fixed up all the unseemly parts under the fixed price) - We are very pleased with our final result! We love our new bedroom lighting (recessed lighting that required new sheetrock for the ceiling), our revamped basement/bathroom, and the fresh coat of paint on the house. The before/after pictures are really significant and Tomas really transformed our space - Tomas is really reliable. We had an situation where we needed something on a hard deadline and an unfortunate mishap occurred. Tomas came in and fixed the problem even when it took him to 2 AM in the morning. CONS: - This isn't a negative on Tomas per se (we recommend him very strongly), but if you are refinishing wood flooring, probably better to go with someone who specializes in refinishing wood flooring since this is an area where specialization does make a huge difference versus a general contractor. Tomas is great in lighting, tiling, general contracting (bathroom/basement in our case), painting, among other activities, but wood flooring is an area that I potentially would have done differently. I'm not displeased with the result and Tomas definitely fixed our most problem areas, but for those who care about wood flooring in older houses, I think hiring a specialist would be better here. We highly recommend Tomas! He is truly great to work with!!

He did a complete walk through of the interior of my house to assess for any roof leakage and then went right to work on the exterior roof structure. He took several pictures and explained to me that my roof was leaking in several places. He asked if I wanted it repaired right then and there to prevent further damage until I could secure a roof replacement. I agreed and he immediately went back up and repaired any areas that needed it. He explained everything he was going to do and also took pictures of the work finished. I had spoken to other companies who provided appraisal services and they were expensive and none of them offered any type of temporary repairs to prevent further damage. Day one, was pretty good, two guys started the job, but were not able to complete in one day. One of the "day one guys" informed me that he doesn't normally work my area, and would not be returning to complete the job. I was informed that they would send someone with matched skills. When they day arrived to complete the job, they sent one of the original guys, who had already admitted that he wasn't very experienced in cabinet installs, and more or less, followed the lead of the experienced guy. The second guy looked like a high school student, so I thought, ok, you cant judge a book by it's cover. However, when the first challenge arose, he had no clue as how to deal with it. He literally just stood there and scratched his head. He really didn't have a clue!! Well the inexperienced cabinet guy had to take charge, and I will let the pictures speak for the work.
