Here's the story: I was driving home one winter evening when a deer ran into my driver's side door like a NY Giants linebacker. She wrecked the door and the mirror and never missed a step when she walked off to huddle up with the herd. In a way the timing was good because I was going out of town on a business trip. So, yes, I could arrange to drop off the car but, it had to be to someone I could trust. How lucky I was to have Jake and Karen in my corner. I have to be honest... I dropped off the car and didn't worry about a thing... really! They worked with the insurance company and handled everything so well that, honestly, I would have been more of a nuisance if I were in town and involved. But, there's something more... the attention to personal care. The evening before I returned there was a snowstorm that dumped about 8 inches of snow on my car but, when I arrived to pick up the car, it looked as though it just came out of the car wash. They made sure it was clean and spiffy for me. Look, you can't pay for that personal attention. Your insurance company doesn't pay for that personal attention. My daughter had the front bumper replaced and painted at Jake's. She picked it up after they were closed and saw the color they painted it was "off". She brought it back and spoke to the owner and he agreed that the one side was not the same as the other and should be redone. She brought it in on the appointed day and received a call from the secretary saying the car was several different colors and they would put the damaged bumper back on. They would not be able to "match" the color which is a standard Nissan metallic silver. Nothing was said about the actual problem of the bumper color not being balanced. One side has metallic flecks and the other is dull. Very disappointed in a shop which is supposed to be so great! read more
