I tried two Cerebral porter d: Work From Home and Working Vacation. Work From Home was excellent. Smooth and rich. Hints of coffee, chocolate and maple. Working Vacation was only slight less excellent. Not quite as smooth and less sweet, with hints of coffee and chocolate. After those two, I tried the Reuben's Press BBIS (2021 Edition), barrel-aged imperial stout. I normally prefer barrel-aged imperial stouts. BBIS had nothing on Work From Home. read more

Chris took care of us and gave us some great recommendations. He was super friendly and greeted us with a big smile. This is a locals favorite for all the tap beers. The lady that owns this place is the welder and has come up with some very creative keg taps. Wednesday through Sunday they have a food truck see you actually can get something to eat there and they also have a rather large outdoor patio that looks really fun. One of my favorite parts was all of the newspaper magazine pictures on the bathroom wall, I love that. I WOULD go back, I think in the summer it would be really fun. read more

I was only in Denver for a few days for the Great American Beer Festival, so I didn't do a ton of exploring, but the one place that stood out to me was Jake's Brew Bar/Beer Garden. It's located in downtown Littleton, which was less than 3 miles from the house I was staying at in Englewood. It's currently owned and operated by Jake's daughter and granddaughter, and I spent my first evening there. Jake's features an impressive craft beer list, with most beers rating a 4 or higher on the Untappd beer app. On the night I visited there was a Sour Beer tap takeover, so I pretty much stuck with the sours, except for my last beer, which was a highly rated Russian Imperial Stout from the popular Weldwerks Brewery. There is a small snakc menu including chips with salsa, guac, or queso, and a pretzel. Brats are also available until they run out. It has a nostalgic charm about it, offers a sidewalk patio and a beer garden in back, but the beer selection and the staff are what made this place for me. The team of AJ and Kenzie made my first visit enjoyable, as did the friendly locals I conversed with. Littleton shuts down early, with most places closing by 10:00 or 11:00, so plan accordingly if you are thinking of a bite after beers. My friends stayed back at the airbnb to plan their strategy for the beer fest. My plan was to follow them around, so I was freed up to enjoy this visit to Jake's. I highly recommend Jake's, and I hope to return! read more

Awesome cozy bar with a fun outdoor patio. You would never know that there is a patio in the back with lots of seating and even gas fire pits, but when you go back there, it's a pleasant surprise! We recently came for Thanksgiving weekend drinks with friends. They have a good variety of holiday-inspired drinks, like a cider whiskey, and a peppermint hot chocolate, both of which were divine! They also have an excellent beer selection. We loved that they served all the specialty cocktails out of mismatched coffee cups with paper straws. It was such a fun touch! All the staff are so friendly and attentive. We were also surprised that they had food options. We started smelling chili and it got our taste buds buzzing! They have options like chips and queso, and soft pretzels with the same queso cheese, both of those hit the spot for a quick snack! Also, a spicy chili, however, I did speak to a woman who said it wasn't that spicy. I'd love to try the chili next time! One fun thing I noticed right when we walked in the door, is there is a coat rack that's filled with costumes. I'm sure on a rowdy night. Wow, this place has really changed since the Pandemic. They have always had a great tap beer selection but now you can buy beer in cans and bottles from a frig at the front of the store. They also added a hard liquor retail section with lots of Whiskey and Vodka, all at reasonable prices. One of the few places to get Weldworks beer as well. Great friendly bar atmosphere and beer garden with tents and heaters for the winter months. read more

Our go to place for downtown Littleton. Beer selection is amazing. Very low key, great back patio with an awesome fire pit. They have some snack food and a pizza truck in the back. Staff is **Stellar**: helpful, easy going, and they know their beer. This isn't a place that you go and wait for help because the staff is too busy looking at their phones. Love it at Jake's! A warm casual environment with good drinks! I'm a cocktail girl and even though they serve mainly beers the cocktails are great! The apple cider whiskey drink was so perfect for a chilly day! The outside has heaters and a fire pit for a warm and nice place to sit. I have only been here a couple times, but I've only had good experiences every time I have gone. They have lots of beers on tap, and some very tasty ones too. I got a raspberry porter here once and honestly it was one of the best tasting beers I have had. There is limited street parking, but you can usually find street parking within a few blocks. Very clean bar and they have lots of board type games to play. If you go on a first date it would be a fun ice breaker or fun to go with lots of friends. Usually on weekdays it is not too crowded, but sometimes on weekends can get pretty crowded and loud, but it is a bar. I love how it is located in downtown Littleton, because a lot of times downtown Denver seems like too much hassle for me, but I still would like to go out to some bars and this is a perfect place. They also have outside seating area if it is nice outside. My friend and I hit up Jake's after class since we would get out late and it is really close to Arapahoe Community College. They even have a small snack menu incase you get the drunk munchies. One of my favorite bars I have been too. read more

A friend and I stopped here after getting off the light rail, before calling an Uber for our continued journey to a brewery at the edge of Littleton. Our main motivation was to answer the call of nature though Jake's high rating on Yelp was also a draw. The brew bar did not open for a few hours so we went to Jake's Other Half instead. Justin recommended the Cerebral IPA which was a great sipping drink that combined citrusy and hoppy at just the right levels. This allowed us plenty of time to check out the interesting decor including Laura's rendition of the Death Star on the bar's chalk board. Besides the great beer selection, both the staff and customers were very friendly. We were included in more than a few conversations as regulars dropped in for a food pickup or to grab a quick pint. My one regret was that we did not have time to try more selections; though I will definitely stop by again if I am ever in the area. So my first Five Star is not even a restaurant - well - not exactly, although they do have various snack food options which have proved decent. They also let you bring your own food in, or often they have food trucks on site. Jake's in short is what we consider out local. Not everyone knows our name - but a good number of the staff do, and while we probably don't stop in every week - we feel right at home there every time. We have introduced many friends to the place, often run into friends or familiar faces, and even if there is no one there we know, it is usually easy to strike up a friendly conversation. No surprise then that my wife chose it as the obvious place to host my surprise 50th party late last year! It was a great evening. I popped in last night for a beer and a chat with an old friend. My wife and I had stopped by earlier in the week as one side (they have two adjacent spaces) has a beer garden and it was a perfect afternoon for a beer outside before probably one last touch of winter set in mid week. Yet as usual - even going back just a few days later - there were some familiar taps - and some new. I think in total they carry around 40 taps so there is always something interesting to try. I spent an afternoon taking photos in Littleton on a Saturday, and found myself parched as I had forgotten to bring a water bottle. I saw the sandwich board sign for Jake's Brew Bar, and thought a beer would hit the spot. I wandered in and was wowed by the list of 25 or so beers on tap. some of which I had never tried. I stayed for two or three beers and found both the staff and the other patrons very pleasant and friendly. A while later I asked my wife to join me at Jake's and she was as pleased with the atmosphere, beer selection and staff as I had been, and we have become somewhat regular customers here (as regular as we are anywhere - we don't go out for drinks very often). We've caught some great local music on the weekends, love the constantly changing beer list, and are always met with cordial servers who clearly love working there. We stopped in in early May and were thrilled to see they were opening a beer garden. While my son was home from Boulder yesterday, we took him to Jake's and gave the new outdoor seating area a try - same great atmosphere, pleasant customers and an even larger selection of taps than the original. We had a great Saturday afternoon at jakes. It was a beautiful 60f day and at 4pm it was not as busy as I expected. We sat outside in the sun, played board games and had a great old time catching up with friends. There's heaps of games to choose from here but they bring their own because they said there's often missing pieces. They have a huge selection of beers but they don't typically do flights. The staff were awesome and just made something up for me. Got me to mark a few that I wanted to try on the menu, gave me smaller pours and wrote which ones were what on the bottom of the glasses. Happy hour on the weekend is 2pm - 6pm so at $3 a pint you can't really go wrong. No food but there's a food truck out the back, yesterday it was a sandwich truck. It was alright. The beer scene in Colorado is mindbogglingly large. I've always thought it was one thing to have a microbrewery and parts of society seems to think that's the only place you can go to get exotic brews. PEOPLE! There are places like Jake's that offer a massive selection of beers from all over. I honestly don't know what other brew bars are like in the area, but Jake's is a strong contender in the marketplace. Crazy selection and the staff is knowledgeable on all of them. The bar itself is cozy with a little beer garden in the back and prices are very reasonable. Last time I came, some patron told me that 15% of Montucky sales goes to charity. I have no idea if it's true, but I made sure to order one for good measure. Be sure to come in Saturday night for the live music! read more
