The dressing was described as southwest ranch, yet it tasted more like plain ranch. And the black bean corn salsa? I had to search hard for it. I would guess one spoonful of it. The oldest building in Fisk, this bar opened in the late 1920s as a perfect example of how little Prohibition mattered in the state of Missouri. The current owner, who was tending bar, has owned the place for about 55 years. My pictures don't do it justice but I love the woodwork in these old bars. Places like this are living history and I always enjoy finding them. Nothing fancy and nothing on tap, just ice cold domestic cans and bottles.

The menu is good with something for everyone and we had a burger and country fried steak and I can only review the country fried steak. The service was that southern US slow but ok. I ordered the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. The country fried steak was bigger than the average and hot from the fryer with a nice crispy crust. The steamed broccoli was slightly better than room temperature with a little crunch left in it and not total mush. The mashed potatoes were cold straight from the fridge for some reason like leftovers. My plate had chips on them that I would have thrown away in my kitchen. The water cup was a cheap plastic cup with a heavy a chlorinated taste in the water and not drinkable. Overall my lunch was disappointing for a restaurant with such a high number of reviews which I feel is fake compared to other restaurants in town.
