I am extremely concerned about an incident that occurred on the night of April 11, 2026. An employee suffered a serious fall that appeared to result in a dislocated knee, requiring emergency medical assistance. She was in obvious and severe pain as paramedics responded. During this time, the manager on duty repeatedly attempted to pressure the injured employee into signing a form, even going so far as to present it to her while she was in distress and later while she was on the gurney. Despite paramedics instructing the manager to stop, these attempts continued. This behavior was highly inappropriate, lacked compassion, and raised serious ethical concerns. The manager's actions demonstrated a troubling disregard for the well-being of the employee during a medical emergency. No individual in such a condition should be asked to complete paperwork under pressure. If a member of my own family were treated in this manner, I would seriously consider escalating the matter to the appropriate regulatory agencies and seeking legal counsel. I urge your organization to review this incident thoroughly and take appropriate action to ensure that employees are treated with care, dignity, and respect--especially in emergency situations. read more

Me and my daughter ate at jalapeño tree the other night. When we sat down, I realized they had new menus that only means one thing, they've raised prices again. I got the mushroom jack fajitas with beef and they were $28. That is unbelievable price for Nacogdoches. I'll look around and see most of the tables empty I remember in past days when you had to wait to get a seat I'm guessing this place won't be open long. since there was only two of us, we could afford to eat there if I would've had my wife and kids it would've been 150 bucks not a very good value. Came in 30 min before close and was literally the best service ever. They were so sweet and friendly and our food came out so quick.

Stopped here for what we hoped would be some good Tex-Mex...no Mex here and we were very hopeful when we walked in and our first sight was a chef making homemade tortillas. Hostess seated us as soon as we came in the door but it took our server about 5 minutes just to come take our drink order. The hot, thin and crispy chips and green sauce is what gave them the second star. From there it went flat. Everything we ordered had literally no flavor. We had to salt and salt our food again. There was no cumin, garlic, onion, chipotle, jalapeño flavor in ANYTHING. This was the blandest food I've eaten. They rank right up there with a hospital. I had a three chicken plate (chicken enchilada, chicken flauta, chicken sour cream enchilada) with rice and refried beans. There were peppers in the cream sauce and queso but they didn't give it any flavor. Hubby had a steak quesadilla. The steak was not a true inside skirt steak...it was more like a pressed meat with squishy texture and NO smoke or grill flavor. We arrived around 4. On a Saturday. Our server probably came on shift at 4 too. He was surprised at the early dinner rush- and that meant we waited for the chips n dips. Jared couldn't answer what a Margarita Meltdown was. Oh well- it was ordered anyways. Turns out- it's a margarita with a blue curaçao Sidecar. Our papa bear was served without jalapeño, and the Bo Diddly (fish) wasn't seasoned. I found the texture to be off putting. I had the same dish in Marshall and it was amazing. First time ever coming from VA my sister talked this place up! It's here favorite. I don't know what happened that night but service was not good all around. Took 15 minutes to even receive drinks. Then when our orders came out they weren't even warm. The fajitas were not even sizzling. But I will say the chips salsa, and avocado dip was delicious. The Prices were high, however they they had a build your own combo plate that was the cheapest thing on menu where you choose what's on it for 13$ for a small plate. 13$ plate still seemed over price for the quality of what you were getting. Service was okay, and store was pretty much empty, food was out in 25 min. One thing that I disliked was that they had a sign out front demanding all armed patrons to not enter if they don't posses a CCW. The state of Texas passed legislation no longer requiring a CCW to be armed with a concealed pistol. So if you want to go out to dinner (with your family and friends) then you would be trespassing to enter with a firearm. I am prior law enforcement, an active serving U.S. Marine, and a lawful resident of Texas but they don't want me to protect my wife and child. I don't know where to begin... our server was fantastic, but that is the only positive thing I have to say about this location. We stopped in for dinner on our way home. We have a Jalapeño Tree in Tyler and it's always been delicious, so we thought it would be comparable. Boy were we wrong! The place wasn't clean and the condition of the table we sat at was horrible. The table was so wobbly our drinks and salsa bowls slid around. My 77 yr old dad got up to get napkins to try and balance it. He ended up on all fours on the floor to try to fix it and not one employee came to help. The bathrooms were filthy. Our shrimp enchiladas were very bland. The shrimp was so over cooked you had to chew them forever. It's advertised to be grilled shrimp but they were not and they were cold! The sign was really appeasing so I'd been wanting to stop in. I was warned not to go and told it's nothing special - but I had to learn for myself. The "lunch specials" are still really pricey and not worth the trip if you even want to call them lunch specials. Service was incredibly slow for a less than busy weekday. Shrimp was dry and bland, off tasting. Salsa was not exciting or flavorful. Chips hard and stale. Dry rice. No seasoning on the beans. Their tortillas were solid with butter and honey on the table. These are all various types of burgers, entrees, and such. Wild, the Governator was like 3 enchiladas, a sampler of flautas, and beans, etc. Crazy, right, considering he doesn't like illegals. The BEST part of our experience HAD to be our server!!! She was sooo cute, because you could tell it was her first day. She sort of knew what she was doing, but having the "trainers" or her other staff members over her shoulder the entire time she's taking our order didn't help. Hahahhaha she was nervous, clearly, because Ben orders a Steak Burrito and she responds, "Chicken or beef?" so now Ben's puzzled, like is this supposed to be a trick question? I order chicken quesadilla and she looks me right in the eye and says the same thing, "Chicke or beef?" So now I'm confused! hahahah, I just reply, "How about the chicken today," and she says okay. Then another one of the "trainer" servers that were hovering over our-new-girl comes out 5 mins later, and confirms whether Ben wants lettuce inside or outside of his burrito. When she brings our food, she pulls out that foldable-table looking thing that they set the plates on, and places the food on our table. Since I had chips all in my area, I move those, and like the gentleman I am, assist her in positioning my food. As I hold theplate, I quickly notice it's HOTAZZHELL...and she says, "Oh sorry, I'm supposed to tell you that's HOT!" hahahhahaha...CLASSIC! And Ben's favorite part, FREE Ice cream on your way out. Traveling through town and our originally intended restaurant was closed for renovations. The Jalapeño Tree was recommended to us and being from San Antonio we were skeptical about a Mexican food restaurant in east Texas. Well, the place had a nice ambience with great decor! Wait staff (Samuel) was quick and attentive. I had the spinach enchiladas and my wife had a combo of crispy beef taco and cheese enchilada. Both dishes were tasty and the charro beans could go up against any in San Antonio! Would recommend to anybody looking for some good Tex-Mex! read more

Have visited JT four times in the last three months. The fajitas, burritos and nachos are all very good. However, I'm not a fan of their fajita beef. It can be a little soft and chewy. Nice bar with multiple TVs for sports. I wonder about the quality of the alcohol used in the house margs because I have felt a little hung over after only having a couple. The waitstaff and bartenders are knowledgable about the menu and very friendly. The restaurant seems to make customer relations a priority. I'll be back for some chicken fajitas or nachos and will ask about the tequila used in the margs. Overall, 3.5 stars. read more

Oh, this is the thing I miss the most about East Texas. Good ole' Jalapeno tree. I'm in the military and stationed in Florida and it is impossible to find delicious Tex-Mex here (I wonder why?). Every time I come home to visit we eat here no less than three times. This place has it all. Free chips, salsa, and "green sauce" that is a recipie consisting of avacados, cilantro, sour cream, and other ingredients that I've tried to figure out so I can make it on my own countless times but have never figured out. I'm usually 90% full by the time my food comes out! Everything is good on their menu. Seriously. The pollo asado is my favorite. It comes with a delicious fajita butter sauce and that paired with their awesome homeade tortilla, I usually leave this place with my pants unzipped for the ride home because they do not fit anymore! If you are ever in the small town of Nacogdoches, or anywhere in the East Texas area (Carthage, Henderson, Tyler, Kilgore), try this place out. You will NOT regret it. read more

Really? This is the BEST in Nacogdoches for 6 years and counting? Not in my opinion. While the food wasn't BAD, it's just not the best I've had in Nac. All Jalapeno Tree is is a localized Pasado's. If you want my most honest opinion, I feel like it's over priced white-people Tex Mex. Here's what I ordered: a sweet tea a cup of queso and the el paso quesadilla The queso wasn't the best in Nac that's for sure, I'd take El Ranchero then Casa Tomas over Jalapeno Tree any day. The quesadilla was fine, I believe it comes w/ bell pepper inside, I found 1 chunk in my 4-5 wedges. All this cost me $20(and some change) plus the $3 I left as a tip. The green sauce(which was free) was fine, but Casa Ole and Casa Tomas' are still better. Really the only thing that was great was the service, unless you count that our waitress had no idea about the alcoholic beverages as far as the questions we had. It isn't the worst place and Nac, don't get me wrong, but it was just not worth how pricey it is. I feel like El Ranchero is way more authentic and is like 1/2 the price, plus I get 2 free margarita's there. Unless someone else is footing the bill, Jalapeno Tree will not be my Best in Nac go to for Mexican. read more

My husband and I had a great night here after a football game. The chips were hot and light and crispy. The salsa was very fresh tasting and had the right amount of heat. The green sauce was creamy, mild and delicious. I ordered the tortilla soup which was delicious. It was brought to my table with a bowl that had tortilla strips and cheese in it and then my waiter poured the hot soup over the top from a pitcher. The soup itself was a creamy cheese soup with chicken and veggies...very good. I would be hooked on this if I lived closer. My husband had two shrimp tacos and a small cup of the soup. He loved them both. Also, I asked for some of the fresh made tortillas, they were quickly brought to my table and there was a whole bottle of squeeze butter at the table...I know, naughty...but soooo good!!!!
