Recommended to us by a friend and figured we would give it a go because we were in the area. Busy for a little place which was immediately a good sign. Clean and well taken care of. Food was amazing, absolutely lived up to our expectations and then some. Will definitely be returning just for the food. Our server was less than impressive though, seemed to care more about the soccer game that was on rather than whether or not we needed anything. Sat needing beverage refills during our meal for almost fifteen minutes before anyone came around to check on us. Wonderful experience, drove here from DFW as usual but this visit was different. We got to meet Noe, the son's owner who was very down to earth and a wonderful server. He told us a bit about his parents (the owners)shared a bit of their story and made us feel even more connected to this great place! Although when you drive up it may not be the easiest on the eyes, the food, the service and the people are wonderful and truly worth the stop. This hole in the wall is serving some really awesome Mexican food! We started off with an endless basket of chips and homemade fresh salsa. The tortilla chips were a little thicker, like a Mi Cocina type of chip and had a great flavor. When they brought salsa they brought one for each guest, and that's great for me because I don't like to share my salsa! The chili rellano was a real treat. Often the pepper is breaded and fried, but not here. They were loaded with cheese and drowned in queso. The peppers were cooked el dente and had a good neutral pepper flavor, not too hot and not too sweet. For $19 we had a fajita feast, fresh sautéed peppers and onions served on a sizzling skillet loaded with grilled chicken on top. There were plenty for two people... for both lunch AND dinner! Friendly hometown service. I'd make the trip from Plano just to have the chili rellano again! We have to thank the locals at The Tile Shoppe distribution center for the recommendation. read more

This is a review written by a person who is on the receiving end of their catering. They brought food from Durant OK to serve the Senate Republican Caucus lunch on a Monday. They brought fajita's. Rice, beans, pico, salsa, chips, tortillas. Guac, shredded queso blanco, shredded cheddar, lettuce. I mean it was a full on Mexican fajita buffet. The fajita's were full of roasted, tender beef, chicken, onions, peppers, pineapple and (drum roll please) BACON! Chips were light, but didn't crumble at a touch. Stood up to scooping the pico, beans, etc. Tortillo's were 6-7". Just a perfect size to stuff with that delicious fajita filling. Don't forget to add your other sides to the tortilla. I am very jealous that I don't live in or near Durant. This place blows away OKC's top 5 mexican restaurants for taste and catering. I will make it to Durant and eat there in person soon. First time eating here for lunch when they first opened. 2 people. 1st order: 1 chicken enchilada, rice and beans and Dr Pepper. 2 order: 2 tamales and beef enchilada and water. Also served with chips and hot sauce. First: the cleanliness was lacking. The table was filthy apparently from the night before, the salt and pepper shakers were nasty and filthy (food all over them and not wiped off). I used my glass of water to and napkins to clean the table. As well as wipe the shakers off. The food was meh. Definitely need more seasoning. And the chicken enchilada sauce was very lacking. The chips and hot sauce were good. The hot sauce was flavorful. Which was the best part of the meal. The service was poor to fair and she wasn't very friendly. Doubt we would return for another meal. When pulling into the parking lot i was not sure this was a restaurant, when I arrived I had to wait on a table and a skinny dude came from the kitchen and got our menus and I followed him as he walked quickly. He through our menus down and silverware on the table and said "someone will be with you shortly" and damn near knocked me down walking away, our waitress was great and very sweet and was always around, the chips where broken into smaller bites, looked liked the bottom of the chip bag. The green salsa is hot as hell but so good!!! I ordered the chicken enchilada's, they were good, the meat I think was canned chicken and was very chewy not like the places that are the big chain restaurants. Fresh food, nice atmosphere, excellent service, and always good food! The chips are even fresh and hot when they arrive at your table. My first visit here, I advised our waiter that I had to have separate corn tortillas from the flour tortillas because I have Celiac Disease. He didn't know what Celiac is, but listened and when he delivered my meal, he stated "Made with love". He said that and made me feel like he genuinely cared because I had strict instructions to him when putting in my order. Some of the guidelines I have to tell any waiter when eating out are that gloves need to be changed and I can not have any wheat flour near my food or it makes me ill. For the first time in two years of my diagnosis, I felt like a waiter actually cared about me and my need. I highly recommend this place to everyone. It's very kid friendly (I had our two grandkids with us) and the entire staff is outstanding! The young lady who checked us out at the cash register was kind and smiled. You could tell she loves her job. The manager checked on us and made sure everything was just right. Great value Mexican restaurant! The white queso was very good! They give you both green and red salsa upon your arrival accompanied by chips and both are very fresh! They have about 20 different variations of fajitas amongst other menu choices so there is something for everyone! My husband and I split the gordo fajita ( chorizo, steak, chicken and sausage) and there was TONs of food! It was very yummy as well! Gotta love this place! I come here every time I'm in Durant. I like both the veggie burrito and the spinach enchiladas (good vegetarian options for a small town establishment). They usually have some sort of special going on, super friendly service, the beans and rice are awesome, and they don't short you on portion size.
