My partner and I were traveling through town. We love Mexican food and decided to try out this place even though there were mixed reviews. After eating there, we regretted our choice. The decor was minimal in comparison to other Mexican restaurants I have visited. The service was ok and they get the food it very quickly. The food could be described as an American attempt at Mexican food. We tried one of their special queso dips that way described as having chorizo in it. We recieved a plate of 1-2 pounds of chorizo and grease covered with about one ounce of queso. It was disappointing as we expected a bowl of queso with a couple ounces of chorizo in it, not a bunch of meat with a few drops of questions on top. I ordered the Steak a la Mexicana and it was over cooked. The rice was a terrible rendition of Spanish rice and the beans were just ok. They do redeem ok beans by putting a lot of cheese on top. My partner had fajitas and they were very dry, tough, and chewy. Based on the plate of grease we got on the appetizer you would think that the fajitas would be juicier, but not the case. My favorite part of any Mexican resteraunt is the chips and salsa. They were ok. The chips were normal tortilla chips kept warm. The salsa had a slight kick to it which was a redeeming qualities to the undertone of tomato paste flavor. Overall this place is just mediocre, not bad, but not good either. read more

I'm new to Salina, and to Yelp! But I got talked into becoming a yelper so decided to give it a shot. We had lunch here last weekend and it was very good! Living in Hutch for quite awhile there wasn't much good Mexican food around. I'll be a regular here! read more

I will say that the hours are very confusing and you'll find different information on if they are open Saturdays depending on where you look. The first thing I noticed was that it's in a historic old building downtown, and I loved the charm of the place. The owners have clearly put some work into giving it it's own flair and it's honestly a fun ambiance to dine in. The servers were all super friendly as well, and the food was pretty good. I'd give the food a B+ for tex mex but in a small town I think it's probably closer to an A-. My only real complaint about this place was that the highchair didn't have really any belts or anything to buckle our baby into so I spent most of our meal making sure she wasn't falling, or just holding her which isn't ideal for enjoying a meal. Overall, though, this place is a nice local spot that I'd return to if in the area. It's family friendly with good service and decent food.

Rude staff. Poor customer service…read more Got here at just after 8PM on Valentine's Day for a late dinner. Greeted at the door and were told they close at 8:30 and not 9 PM as stated on the sign. Told that we could stay till 8:30 and then have to skedaddle. Very rude staff. We walked out and decided to go a few doors down where they were happy to have us well past their advertised closing time. Won't be returning to this place.
