For the Fourth of July, my family and I went to Stephen's Lake Park to watch the fireworks and decided to check out the food trucks! My aunt and I saw Jamaican Jerk Hut and immediately got in line for Curry Chicken and Pork Steaks. The Curry Chicken had Curry imported from Jamaica, and has veggies like carrots and potatoes in it. The Pork Steaks were cut up into strips and served almost like ribs... slathered in a Jamaican Jerk Sauce. Both plates came with red bean coconut rice and potato salad. My Pork Steaks were delicious, tender, and flavorful. Not too much fat and had a kick from the jerk sauce. I loved the rice and potato salad too. My only critique is the jerk sauce needed more salt. My aunt enjoyed her curry chicken, although she was disappointed that the vegetables that were in the curry were either from a can or a frozen mix. You know the one with potatoes, carrots lima beans etc. I didn't mind it, however, and therefore, I took her leftovers that she didn't eat. For being a food truck, the service was super fast as well. I think they had everything pretty much made and ready to order, which made the line move fast. I really enjoyed everything and saw that their restaurant location might have oxtail and plantains, which I definitely want to try. I can see a re-visit in my future. read more

Customer service is piss poor. The food is even worst. I wouldn't eat here if it was the last thing on earth.

The food is not authentic. I called in to order the person taking my order had an attitude. Don't eat here !

Great jerk chicken and pork steak, delicious "Rasta lemonade," friendly folks, and if you're ordering out, cardboard containers (yes, that excites me)! Other offerings are curry chicken (haven't tried it--I'm addicted to their jerk dishes--but my wife loves it), meat pies, callaloo, cabbage and carrots, and rice with jerk gravy. Tip: one entree can easily be split between two people, or, like we do, you can be assured substantial leftovers! Also, I am a huge reggae fan and great tunes are always playing in there. Had the Jamaican beef patty from their truck at the Art in the Park event at Stephens park. It was roughly the size and appearance of one of those "fried" pies you get from a vending machine. Thick, very dry crust and dry, slightly spicy, beef filling. The scant filling was overwhelmed by the crust. It wasn't terrible, but for $5, I'd really expect something better. read more

I like the fact that it's a family owned business, but I find them to be over priced and not worth it. It's five dollars for a dried up meat pie, which is normally one dollar, ever where else. I had to Curry chicken, which caused me to be filled with even more disappointment. My return to this place is not likely. I've never been to Jamaica. Most of the Jamaican food I ate was in Atlanta. But I could make better at home Jamaican food, the stuff here to me. Is like eating freezer burnt food. read more

This place amazing. We were passing by from Colorado. Great change from all the boring places out there. We had jerk chicken. Plenty of food. Lemonade was like no other that I've tasted. By far the best food truck in columbia! The Jerk sauce is spicy and flavorful. They Grill the chicken and pork steak with jerk seasonings for several hours before the food truck opens up. I live in New York City and haven't been back to Columbia in 3 years. I came in and they not only remembered me, but remembered that I'm vegetarian! You can't get that kind of service at a chain restaurant. Also, their Rasta Lemonade is literally the best lemonade I've ever had in my life. I have no clue what their hours are, but the Jamaican Jerk Hut is housed inside MoJo's in Columbia. You can also find the Hut in the form of a truck/stand at outdoor events (like Summerfest concerts). I have also had the fortune of enjoying their food at a catered event -- point being, they cater and its good! They aren't easy to track down, but wherever you find the Jamaican Jerk Hut guys/gals making food, give it a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

I ordered the jerk chicken and it was great. The chicken had great flavor and was covered in a yummy flavorful sauce. My only real gripe would be the kind of chicken they used. It was a lot of skin and not a lot of meat. The portion was big enough to have me and my girlfriend satisfied while we were out at art in the park. Great food and the portion sizes are perfect for both the sides and the main dish. The owners/workers are always friendly and sometimes hilarious whether I come to the truck or to the new location. The only con is that the food is pricey compared to other jerk chicken spots in cities like Chicago and St. Louis, but this is understandable since this is the only jerk chicken spot in Columbia. read more
