Delicious... best I have found in the Rochester area. Had the jerk chicken, rice and bean & cabbage. I'll be back.

The jerk chicken is to die for. Fantastic addition to the neighborhood's many restaurants. Very bright and cheerful decor too.

The place is clean, spacious, plenty tables to sit. I just picked up some food to go. I did eat the pâté while waiting on my chicken and rice. It was a bit doughy but very flavorful and spicy. The juices are great. I should've taken some to go. The rice and beans with chicken were a hit as well. Glad to find a bit of home here. They also have a market of food and goodies to buy right next to the restaurant. This is definitely a little gem. Check them out.

The African pate tastes very similar to an alcapurria. A fritter stuffed with meat and fried. One man served us and we had to wait for him to clean up before ordering. Thankfully I ordered Yelp since it was a bit of a big order, unfortunately I never received a confirmation order, but I just seen our food sitting at the restaurant and asked if it was mine. It was....so we didn't have a long wait time, however the food had gotten cold. I tried to be strategic and ordered for 1:30, since my drive was 30 mins but it was still cold. Thankfully there were pates and sambusas in the hot case still warm, so we got those hot and fresh. The ambiance was a little lack luster. Not much decorum or music, but there is a smaller store on the other side of the restaurant. I didn't get a chance to check it out but next time. If it's two things you remember to try it's the Sorrel (Hibiscus) Juice and the Somali fish Sambusas. I would drive back for those two things alone. The sorrel juice is so flavorful and spicy from the ginger. Those two menu items alone are a 15/15

We ordered the Large Fricassee Chicken (with chicken leg and chicken tender) and the Small Curry Chicken. The woman who was working was very kind, answered all our questions, and gave us recommendations! The large entrees came with 2 sides which were the Mac n Cheese and the Cabbage and the meat is served over rice and beans. The small entrees came with 1 side which was the Cabbage (meat also served over rice and beans). I absolutely loved both meats I tried. The Fricassee Chicken had both juicy and some slightly tougher spots but was overall very flavorful. It came with bell peppers which brought a nice bright crunch to the heavier meal. The Curry Chicken was also very flavorful and saucy. For the sides: Personally, I'm not a mac and cheese fan but this was soo good. I highly recommend getting the large; great portion size and definitely can fill you up for 2 meals easily. I loved trying a bit of everything together - the chicken, the mac and cheese, the sauce, the rice and beans... soo good. I'd recommend you come and support a locally owned business!

The cabbage was okay, nothing special, and the mac & cheese had good flavor but was a little dry. They pre pack it and leave it sitting under a warmer in the front of the store so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it. The customer service, I loved it. Super welcoming and that always makes a difference. In conclusion... everything was just okay

The curry chicken was good, flavorful and served on top of rice and peas. The chicken was authentic curry style, chopped pieces with bone in. The rice and peas were great. The winner was the jerk chicken though. Huge thigh, grilled with lots of jerk spice and a bit of scotch bonnet sauce on top at the end. It was awesome. I will get that again. There is no seating inside, it's literally a hole in the wall with a service counter you order from. The people working there seemed nice and were hard at work at 11:30 in a Friday. This one is going in my rotation of places to go back to. I'll upload some photos next time I go.
