I noted this place to be one of the top Jamaican spots in the area. My first visit here over the summer was a 4/5 experience. Great food: purchased a side of yams, Mac and cheese, and dirty rice. Portion sizes were great for the cost. The only downfall with that experience was the wait: I came at lunch time on a Sunday and the wait was around 30 minutes. Once I dug into the food, I realized it was well worth the wait. From my first experience, I didn't hesitate to visit this spot again. After three more visits, I can now say that I've had my fair share of this place. Unfortunately the negatives outweighed the positives. My food has been lukewarm, the portion sizes have changed dramatically, depending on who is a serving you, and the customer service is a hit or miss. Regardless of the time of day, food should always be fresh and served hot, especially when the prices are not cheap. Portion sizes should be the same across the board. It's quite frustrating to receive a small scoop of Mac and cheese for $4 and then a week before that, you received almost two heaping scoops for the same price. read more

This restaurant gave me life. Because I have had more than my share of jerk chicken and curry chicken, I ordered brown stew chicken instead. That along with some rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. The portions weren't skimpy and the flavor was not flat. Stopped in for a quick lunch. I was craving a jerk chicken salad. It was at 2:00 on a Tuesday, and we were the only customers in there. We were served fairly quickly. As for my jerk salad, the salad was so fresh and crisp, topped with a plentiful amount of chicken. There was just the right amount of sauce on the chicken so that it wasn't drowned in sauce, but also wasn't dry. The jerk sauce itself is really something else! Sweet, tangy, and very unique. The chicken was really high quality--cooked well, with more meat than bone. It was also fairly easy to pull apart, so that I could eat this meal with a fork alone. The jerk does have a bit of a kick to it, although I'm a fan of spicy, so I added some hot sauce for an even bigger kick. My boyfriend thought it was spicy. Also, this meal was ridiculously cheap. Customer service is trash. I forgot my Wallet in the store. Another customer gave it to the lady in the back and she tried to steal my wallet. I called before going to make sure she had it and gave her a description of the wallet and my name. She refused to give it to me until i had to get hostile. I was away from home and needed some good home cooked Jamaican food and my coworkers recommended this place. It's conveniently located where I was able to take the 4 bus from my hotel downtown. The restaurant isn't anything fancy but the menu and food is GREAT!! I had the jerk wings with their special sauce, the snapper fish with rice and veggies, and a piece of carrot cake. Everything was DELICIOUS!!! And it was reasonably priced based on the quality of what you're getting and portion. I live in a rural area and have never been a fan of downtown. I don't feel comfortable downtown and I certainly don't make stops at small mom and pop restaurants in slightly shady areas. I work in a downtown office now, and was coerced by some co-workers to go to "This is It" for lunch one day. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The gentlemen working the front was friendly and helpful. The portions are huge, and the food is AMAZING. I am an amateur BBQer and the jerk chicken I had from this joint was sooo good. This is it definitely boasts some of the finest home-style cooking in the Rochester area. I have lived in the area for several years, and this has been among my favorites. Great for takeout, (I wouldn't eat in). The loud bumps of reggae from the speaker adjacent to the ordering counter is fun to listen to while you mull over the menu.
