While the overall experience I've had visiting Mercy Personal Physicians at Glen Burnie has been…read moregood, this review is in regards to the lab work section of the office. In the three separate times I've visited to get my labs drawn, the woman working at that desk always seems annoyed with each person who approaches her. In my case, and what I believe is the standard case of each patient, we are told to go directly to the waiting room and wait for your name to be called since the labs are already in the system. On this occasion, two people did not follow those directions. The woman at the desk made a comment after the second person "ITS ALREADY STARTING". Unnecessary and rude. I approached her after she called my name and told her good morning, met with no response. I can speak for myself when I say, blood draws give me anxiety and I don't like them. Would it be so difficult to respond to the patient with a good morning? I expect so much more from Mercy, their Drs and nurses are phenomenal. They need to do better with their employees who work in the lab room..

I live about 40 mins. away from the Glen Burnie office but because of her great service as a physician, I don't mind the travel. We were on our way to dinner at the mall when he began experiencing symptoms, so I had to drive him to the ER. As soon as I arrived, an officer immediately brought a wheelchair and assisted us. Thank you, Mr. Officer, for your kindness and quick help during such a frightening moment. The triage nurse began her assessment right away and quickly got him into a room. He spent five days in the ICU, and every nurse who cared for him was amazing. A special thank-you to Suvechha, Deborah, and Melisa for their compassion, attentiveness, and dedication. Dr. Dixon and Dr. Aileen kept me informed throughout every stage of his recovery, which gave our family so much reassurance. Thank you to the entire ICU team serving Room 273 for providing outstanding care during a very difficult time.

I am writing to report an extremely disturbing and unacceptable interaction that my familyand I…read moreexperienced with a front-desk staff member at Baltimore Washington Medical Center. The staff member was working at the front desk when we encountered her. I want to be very clear: this was not simply a case of someone being unpleasant or having a bad day. Her behavior toward my husband and me was rude, dismissive, disrespectful, and, based on the way we were treated and the circumstances surrounding the interaction, we believe it was racially discriminatory. We are white, and the treatment we received was so noticeably different, hostile, and inappropriate that we left the interaction feeling singled out and discriminated against. Patients and their families should never have to wonder whether they are being treated differently because of their race, particularly while dealing with a medical facility where people may already be stressed, frightened, vulnerable, or worried about someone they love. What makes this especially troubling is that this individual is stationed at the FRONT DESK, meaning she is one of the first people patients and families encounter when entering your facility. That position requires professionalism, courtesy, patience, and respect for every person who walks through the door. Instead, we experienced behavior that was completely contrary to those expectations. I am not interested in receiving a generic response telling me that "customer service is important." I am asking for this complaint to be taken seriously and investigated. Baltimore Washington Medical Center has a responsibility to provide an environment where every patient and visitor is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of race or any other personal characteristic. No one should walk away from a hospital feeling humiliated, targeted, or discriminated against by the very people who are supposed to help them. I mean, you literally have signs everywhere stating not to treat the staff poorly, and bullying will "not be tolerated," but what about the visitors and patients?!! I expect this complaint to be documented and investigated appropriately. I also expect a substantive response rather than a form letter or a dismissive explanation. We deserve better than what we experienced, and frankly, so do the other patients and families who will encounter this employee. I look forward to hearing from someone in administration or Patient Relations who is prepared to address this matter seriously.

Rather than taking time to speak with him or help him feel comfortable, the nurse immediately stopped the process, stating, "We don't force kids or hold them down." I was not asking for that; I simply expected some effort to encourage him so we could determine whether he had strep and needed antibiotics. When the doctor entered, she recorded everything on her iPad. She asked whether my son had a fever, and when I answered yes, she questioned it by asking if he felt hot. After I confirmed that he did, she stated that this did not constitute a fever. I understand she is the medical professional, but I am familiar with how my son's body responds to illness, and I felt dismissed and unheard. The nurse later returned to perform COVID and flu tests. When my son again refused, she immediately left the room without attempting to reassure or engage with him. At that point, I felt that my concerns were not being addressed and that my time was being wasted, so we chose to leave. We then visited Gambrills Urgent Care, where the staff handled the situation appropriately and completed the necessary testing. This was my second negative experience at this location. During a previous visit, the physician informed me that my test results had "nothing to do with her" and implied that I should not hold her responsible for them, which I found unprofessional. Since the management change, the quality of care has noticeably declined, and I am concerned about the level of professionalism demonstrated by both the doctors and nurses. I do not plan to return.

The one about three years ago I got was sizable. I got a check in the mail today that the service was performed 4/29/24 and I just got it in the mail today which is the 28th of May 2025. Totally unacceptable. This comes from our HSA and apparently Advanced is so money hungry that they have to have it right then! Why not reverse the amount to the member's card or put a hold on it until it's paid....no, they don't do that. My daughter in law has had the same experience as I did coming off the card and her insurance paid for it totally. She too was hacked over this. Oh well, it works just fine now because the new group actually sends a bill and I pay it as soon as I get it. As for my care, experiences have always been somewhere between great and meh....a lot more of meh though. I've had a number mammographies that I thought they were going to kill me....and just when you thought they got what they were looking for, they call you back for a rescreen. Haven't had that so far with my new place. Time will tell...I just know that they have been much more caring than the majority of techs I've had at Advanced.
