The journey with this clinic started off by me wanting a place close to Forest Hills, Queens. I…read moreused their website and put in my information and no one contacted me back. Two weeks later, I called and they again said someone would call me back, which they never did. I called once again a week later and finally got a hold of someone. I got set up with Dr. Tendai Chiware and we met and she seemed overall nice and professional. Being a novice about fertility treatments I didn't know that this would be one of only a few times I would interact with her or any doctors again at this clinic while receiving treatment there for over a year. Everything is handled mostly by nurses, technicians, and administrative staff. If I ever had an issues with insurance or billing, Daniela, the manager for the clinic tried to handle them in a professional and timely manner, but it was apparent she was overwhelmed with lots of problems at the clinic. Once IVF started, I was told I would have to do lots of monitoring at 5am in the morning in Forest Hills and travel to Brooklyn if I needed appointments during the weekend. The technician Michelle came late a lot of the times. She was unapologetic and left women waiting outside the building at 5am in the morning. She is their traveling technician and monitoring was only from 5-6:30am at Forest Hills and sometimes there would be a long line of women waiting outside in the cold. Dr. Chiware told me I could call or email her and she would get back to me during the process of stimming/ IVF yet she never did. All I got were calls from nurses who did not help much. I was in a lot of pain during stimming and I was told over and over again just to take Tylenol. On the day of my egg retrieval, I saw Dr. Chiware again and she did my procedure. When I woke up she told me the number of eggs retrieved and that I had a lot of fluid in my abdomen. I told her I was in pain and she said she would write me a prescription. She never did and I was sent home. I felt very sick on the car ride home and I knew something wasn't right. By the end of the night, I was gasping for air and in severe pain. My husband called the emergency line and again a nurse said just give her Tylenol. I should have been instructed to go to the emergency room. I was so shaken up and traumatized by the experience I left Genesis forever. I banned Genesis from ever calling me again and they were only allowed to speak to my husband. It took 2 therapists to convince me to try IVF again. After recovering, I spent 6 months consulting at all the top-notch fertility clinics in New York including RMA, Cornell, CCRM, and NY Fertility. All the doctors agreed, I probably had internal bleeding after my egg retrieval at Genesis and should have instructed me to go to the emergency room. I don't blame Genesis for not having a baby, but the treatment I received there was horrendous. I also had a Saline Sonogram with Dr. Kotlyar where no pain/anxiety medication was given to me and he spent almost 45 minutes trying to insert the catheter while a nurse and my husband pushed down on my abdomen as hard as they could. It was outrageous and painful! So again, I tell my story so no one ever has to go through what I went through at this fertility clinic. And now I would like to publicly say that my current doctor is kind, professional, and I get to see her every time I go in, even for monitoring!!! Her name is Dr. Vidya Palta from New York Fertility and she is literally down the street from Genesis Fertility in Forest Hills. Please give her a shot because I'm telling you she is my fertility savior. I would like to mention Gail from the lab and most nurses from Genesis were nice and professional. However, I don't know what kind of culture Richard Grazi has created at Genesis, but it is not tailored to individual patient care, but seems catered to getting as many patients in at once for profit. What a shame!!! Please give New York Fertility and Dr. Vidya Palta a chance. You won't regret it. (718) 793-7752

I called back and left a message, they emailed me and told me to call on Monday. In addition to that email there was another email in the thread "she could have left a message" it was in reference to the previous email I sent saying that I had called. I think that was extremely unprofessional . I am very big on professionalism, I will not go there if they think that is an appropriate way to communicate with new patients

Checking in is a breeze. You have the ease of several comfy and accommodating lounges while you wait. Access WiFi and have tea until your provider is available. The assistant and tech staff are the consummate professionals. Today was my first time seeing Damilola. I came in to have fibroids checked. The tech did the ultrasound giving me a play-by-play of what she was doing and why. Damilola came in shortly after. Her temperment was very calming. She introduced herself and explained my results, answered my question and expressed care for other health issues I'm currently navigating. Overall, she was very culturally responsive and that's huge for me as a black woman. Viva Eve is a 10/10 for me. Love it here!

Since it was very early, the doctor…read moreasked me to come in multiple times over the next two weeks to "confirm" the pregnancy, which seemed excessive. Each visit included a urine test, internal and external sonograms -- all of which felt more like requirements than options. It quickly became clear that they try to schedule as many appointments as possible, likely to bill more. Even after my pregnancy was confirmed, they kept asking me to return -- sometimes every other week -- for unnecessary follow-ups. Each visit involved at least an hour-long wait. I was initially told the practice was in-network with my insurance. However, after a few visits, I started receiving unexpectedly high bills. I was then informed I needed to sign over the insurance reimbursement checks directly to them. I did this for a few visits, but eventually stopped going because it felt like they were more focused on billing than care. Even after providing them with all the checks I received, I'm still being sent bills. I contacted their billing department multiple times -- first in November, when they told me it was just an automated message and not to worry, and now again, only to be told I need to contact my insurance and have the checks reissued. Save yourself the stress and go with another practice. This one has been nothing but a hassle.

We were extremely discouraged when we found Dr. Tsai, in August of 2019, but felt a little comfortable & reassured after reading the phenomenal reviews online. He was absolutely God sent. From our initial visit, Dr. Tsai, consoled us as we cried, educated us and even encouraged our strong desire to create a family is possible. During our emotional consultation he vowed to do everything in his power to get us pregnant within two weeks! After the past few months Dr. Tsai has become not only a friend but a part of our family. Here is a little testament to his character: Immediately after our first, and only, IUI procedure Dr. Tsai humbly thanked my wife and I for allowing him to take part in forming our family and without knowing it, he consistently won our hearts over with his genuine positive energy. October of 2019 - YES, we are pregnant!!! In addition to how amazing Dr. Tsai is his staff is equally as efficient and caring. We eagerly pass along Dr. Tsai's contact information to any and all family members or friends considering fertility treatment or not happy with their current fertility doctor.

In the initial visit prior to the procedure I had mentioned to Dr. Levy that my mother has very low pain threshold and if they use any topical anesthesia or pain medication prior to the colposcopy. He stated, "No, she won't need it". I emphasized the low pain threshold again and he said, "It's like a Pap smear, she won't feel pain if she wants she can take Ibuprofen". I ask what's the maximum dose she can take he states, "800mg". I trusted his medical advice. During the colposcopy Dr. Levy was QUIET the entire time that I had asked him if he could explain what he's doing so that it could ease my mothers nerves (Side note: My mother is Hispanic and speaks Spanish only and I was there to help translate along with his assistant) When I asked that he seemed annoyed, did he though? BARELY. I had to ask at certain points what he was doing because my mother was in so much pain each time. (Ex: He put a swab inside a solution and I had to ask what's that solution? He said it was a vinegar-like solution. Nothing else. I asked is it supposed to like highlight potential cancer cells? He goes yes. That's his definition of explaining which clearly was me asking the questions). You would think since there's a language barrier you would want to explain to the patient so they're at ease. He did not empathize with her or provide comfort during the whole thing at all. Needless to say, my mother was in pure agony. She cried throughout the entire procedure. It was heartbreaking to see her go through that and as a daughter being unable to do nothing but trust his judgement. He stated, "You've given birth already, this pain is nothing compared to that". Yes, you read that right. To make matters worse during the procedure my mom started to hemorrhage. The only reason I even knew that wasn't because he blatantly told me. I saw him ask his assistant for more gauze for the past minute which raised my question, "What is going on? Is there something you're not telling me". He was being quiet until I asked him that and he very angrily stated, "I can't keep explaining to you everything I'm doing. She's hemorrhaging I'm focused on controlling that right now". Mind you I didn't ask him to explain to me what he's doing at that very moment all I wanted to know was if there was a complication because he kept asking his assistant for more gauze!? Wonder how many other patients he's treated like this. Unacceptable. 5 months later my mother has persistent pelvic pain post colposcopy. He told us it would be gone within a week which clearly hasn't. She is traumatized and doesn't trust doctors anymore. She cries everyday because she is left with this pain since the procedure. She's unable to lift heavy things, walk fast or go up the stairs like she used to. Also, the results from her colposcopy were + for cervical cancer. So imagine, she's supposed to be getting treatment for her diagnosis but because of this horrible traumatic experience with a uncompassionate, non communicative and unprofessional doctor she trusts NO doctor now. To Dr. Levy: You don't get to diminish a patients pain. Pain is subjective! Also, if someone tells you from the beginning that this patient has a very low pain threshold you need to believe that not brush it off. Can't handle a patient like that then refer them out. You DON'T get to comment on what labor pain feels like because you don't have the same reproductive system as women do. Completely insensitive and highly unprofessional. I hope you can sleep at night knowing that you literally ruined my mothers trust in doctors. Know that because of you I might lose my mother since she doesn't want any treatment at all. You completely failed her.

I will preface I have not had an annual exam in about three years so I don't know what they usually entail. I saw a Dr. Adjoa Buckner she quickly Did an assessment, a breast exam, Pap smear, and checked for any abnormalities such as fibroids or any pelvic pain. again I don't know how in-depth an annual exam is, but I did feel like it was very brief and quick however that may be every annual exam so I don't have much complaints about that. I'll also say I was 15 minutes late and they were still able to accommodate my visit, which was great. I was quickly seen once I finished the paperwork. to find the entrance it's a bit tricky because it says P3 so I expected the third floor, but when you enter on the side entrance, which they tell you to in a text prior to your visit, the door is right there. The waiting room is nice. They have tissues and a place to charge your phone. The exam room was a bit tight and the ceilings were low, the drop ceiling had water damage stains and the paint was chipping so it just seemed like a very flimsy job. The receptionist were helpful and nice. I would probably return given it's only a bus ride away and finding a nice office in Queens is a little difficult.

When I said that I wanted to figure out WHY my period was so irregular-- not just take something to make me bleed every month-- he was very dismissive. (Keep reading!) Often, I was seen by the nurse practitioner, Jane Lee. Every time I saw her, she acted like it was her first time meeting me. There seemed to be no notes from any of my previous visits. This year, I mentioned to her that when I got my mammogram last year, it was suggested that I get an ultrasound, too, because I have very dense breasts. The ultrasound was not covered by my insurance, so I asked Jane Lee whether it was really important for me to get it. (THE CORRECT ANSWER IS YES.) She literally shrugged and said "you can get it if you want, it's up to you." Well, I got the ultrasound... and that's how I found out I had breast cancer!!! And that's how I found out I have the BRCA gene mutation, which led to my getting my uterus and ovaries removed. My post-surgery pathology reports showed that I had pre-cancer in my uterus, as well as PCOS. None of this was EVER suggested as a possibility by Dr. Cohen or Dr. Lee, even though it was most likely the cause of my irregular periods. If I had not followed my own instincts, I would have died of breast cancer and/or uterine cancer. I am going to be okay now-- no thanks to Dr. Cohen or Dr. Lee. TL;DR: GET THE ULTRASOUND. FIND A GYNECOLOGIST WHO CARES WHETHER YOU LIVE OR DIE.

THIS PLACE IS A COMPLETE SCAM. I'm writing this while…read moresitting in the waiting room of my new doctor's office -- and honestly, thank God I decided to finally switch doctors. I found this place through Zocdoc while dealing with months of lower abdominal pain, infection symptoms and rashes. I don't have insurance, so I was desperate for help and trusted the glowing reviews. Big mistake. HUGE. My first visit was with a doctor named Maria Leon. She spent most of the $200 consult complaining and admitted she didn't even know how to read the ultrasound I was paying out of pocket for. I asked to switch doctors immediately. I also left a bad review because no one, especially vulnerable women, should be paying what they charge for such shitty service. Then Dr. Shayeb -- the "main" doctor -- contacted me, clearly to get me to delete the review. He offered to "redo" my tests, found I had ureaplasma, and gave me a week of Cipro. That was it. No follow-up. I had to call multiple times to get information or even instructions and every time I called, the secretary up front had the attitude of ugh its u again. Today, months later after finishing all the treatments they sent me there to a T, still with the same symptoms, I finally went to a decent urologist, brought my medical records from there thank GOD, and watched him literally shake his head non stop reading them. He told me it was insane they only treated ureaplasma for one week -- something any competent doctor would know is ineffective. He said I was pumped with months of antibiotics that were given in the wrong dosages and schedules, making them useless and I quote, said, "who is this doctor? I feel so bad for you that you now have to pay for everything AGAIN". Due to being prescribed multiple rounds of different antibiotics, I may have developed resistance to treatment. This could make healing significantly more difficult--and I've wasted over $1,000 in the process. So here's the truth: if you don't have insurance or are looking for actual medical help, DO NOT GO HERE. This place is a SCAM. They will take your money, misdiagnose you, mistreat you, and then try to silence you. Cause they need to keep their google reviews up so other girls fall in the same trap I did. Maybe they're fine for an easy pregnancy, but for anything else? Don't risk it. Literally anywhere else is a better choice.
