Deceptive Billing, Unnecessary Blood Tests, and Public Humiliation…read more I scheduled my appointment through the clinic's website, which clearly stated the $300 fee included both the medical exam and completion of Form I-693. When I arrived, the receptionist confirmed this. Even the doctor told me--without me even asking--that the $300 covered both the appointment and the documentation. He said a blood test might be an additional charge and necessary to complete my I-693 which I agreed. I had already provided proof of all required vaccinations, and blood test that I got in another clinic and my insurance paid for it, so there was no medical reason to run any tests. Still, they mentioned one specific blood test, but then performed a different one that I did not need. When I returned to receive my results, I was suddenly told I had to pay another $300 to complete the documentation(form I-693) completely contradicting what both the website and staff had previously confirmed. When I questioned it, the receptionist began yelling at me in front of the entire waiting room and refused to finalize my paperwork unless I paid again. It was deeply unprofessional and humiliating. After leaving, I called the clinic to clarify. They told me the website was "wrong," and that the true cost was $300 for the exam and another $300 for the form (I-693) something never disclosed at any point. I requested a detailed, itemized bill showing the charges for both the appointment and filling the form but they refused. All they offered was a basic credit card receipt. When I finally received a billing summary, through email they cc two more people who could see all my bill and personal information, however they didn't disclose the charges and instead just sent me a total of due without specific information, so i had to request a disclosed bill and when I got it,they were charging me for hepatitis b, varicella and MMR titer and i had the vaccines for all these (I gave them my vaccine record including vaccines for these diseases so not blood test was necessary) This clinic is dishonest, lacks transparency, and operates unethically. They performed unnecessary medical procedures, changed prices after the fact, refused to provide proper billing, and publicly humiliated me. I strongly urge others to avoid this place at all costs

This medical office can be hazardous to your health!…read more I chose this office for a general check-up as I had not gone for one for several years. It was nearby, and the picutures of the office looked decent. I was able to make an appointment the next day, which was convenient. But, that is where the positives end. To start my exam, I saw a very nice young woman, but she was not a doctor. She was a PA. Spoke to me about my medical history, etc. I told her I was having an issue with my foot. A few days before, I went to a podiatrist (at a different location/office) and was told that I had injured my foot. I showed the PA my foot, and she said it looked normal (when it is more swollen than my other foot). So, who do I believe? The PA at Dr. Yuryev, or the podiatrist I had seen the week before? Well, the podiatrist ordered an MRI. I went for the MRI, and I have six stress fractures in my right foot. So much for the PA at this office for spotting an issue. Which, of course, they didn't. Then a blood test was taken. I received a call the next day from Dr. Yuryev's office to inform me that they have the results and that someone will call me to discuss. I then got a call from another PA at Dr. Yuryev to discuss the blood test result. First, he went over the good points. Then he went into the bad. I was told that I am anemic, with hemoglobin, hematocrit and RBC all below reference range. The PA told me that in addition to being anemic, I probably have a slow bleed inside of me, probably a tumor in my colon, and that I may have colon cancer. Well, when I heard that, I of course was quite upset. What is strange is that I have no pain and when I looked up the symptoms of colon cancer, I have none of it. I'm not tired all of the time, so I don't know how I could possibly have anemia. I was then told to see a gastroenterologist for a colonoscopy. I was given a reference to one from their office. Called the reference. An appointment was a month away and it was only a 10-minute video visit. That really isn't good enough. I found out on my own that I should have the blood test retaken and get a ferratin (Iron) blood test. So, what did I do? I went and found a really great gastroentrologist in Manhattan. Quickly got an appointment. Met with a real doctor this time. I showed him the blood test result. He said I shouldn't be too worried over it. He retook the blood test. And did a ferratin test. The result? Everything was in range! What a relief. The ferratin test showed everything with my iron levels was normal. Didn't look like I was anemic. While I was at the gastroenterologist, he set up a colonoscopy. I had that procedure done. The result? All NEGATIVE! No polyps, no tumors, no bleeding, nothing. I am NOT bleeding inside my colon, as I was told I probably was by the PA from Dr. Yuryev's office. I went into Dr. Yuryev's office feeling fine, and left being sick from what I was told. Thankfully it all worked out fine for me in the end, but the experience from Dr. Yuryev's office really scared me and worried me to no end for a couple of months until I knew the real results. What a lousy experience. PAs really aren't good enough. You need to see a doctor. With New York State now allowing PAs to administer your health care instead of a real doctor, more stories like mine may emerge. Moral of the story? Don't go to a doctor in Brooklyn. Always go to one in Manhattan if you can. There IS a difference!

Didn't want my little girl catching anything from me. Called and made an appointment the same day. I was greeted by a friendly receptionist. She had a friendly smile and answered all my questions about my insurance company. The office was bright and new, looked like it was just renovated. After 10 minutes of waiting my name was called by a tall, Eastern European man with a slight accent. As I entered the the exam room Dr.P introduced himself and asked me what was the purpose of my visit. His approach was warm and caring, didn't seemed rushed. (Unlike my other experiences in other medical offices I am used to going to) Dr.P toke some tests and assured me I had just got a common cold and should feel better soon as long as I take the meds he prescribed me. Overall, my experience with the staff and the Dr. P was amazing. I highly recommend them! I know finding a good knowledgeable Doctor in Borough Park is hard to come by.

I think I finally found a gem of a doctor in my neighborhood…read more I was feeling a bit run down at work and decided that it would be a good idea to get checked out. After a quick Google search, I stumbled upon city care medical and gave them a ring. Person who answered the phone was very friendly and told me that they were open until 8 PM and that I could walk in anytime before that. I got to the office around 6:30PM and after waiting only a few minutes was seen by the doctor. Dr. P introduced himself and immediately I felt very comfortable with him. He was friendly, warm, and had an excellent bedside manner. I was able to explain my symptoms to him and never felt rushed. After our chat, I believe that he gave me the right diagnosis and was able to send a few prescriptions over to my pharmacy as well as give me a few alternative recommendations, which I appreciated a lot. It is now about a week after my visit and I'm feeling much better already. I am very glad that I found Dr. P and his staff. I will be coming to city care medical in the future and have already recommended this office to many of my friends who have an equally great experience here. Thank you guys!

PLEASE READ I have…read morebeen a patient of Doctor Fagelmans for over 5 years. Last year due to switching a family group insurance plan I had to switch doctors, which was upsetting. I spent over a year trying to find another primary care doctor, however I was unable to find anyone that was even close to good as Fagelman is. I now have switched insurance providers JUST to have Dr. Fagelman as my primary care physician. His staff is unbelievably helpful and friendly. Every time I come into the office I am greeted with a big hello and smile. Furthermore, they always remember my name! Delita and the receptionists are caring, sweet, and very kind people. They go the extra step to create a relaxing environment where people feel welcomed. The reason why I am writing this is because Fagelman has always taken and extra step while caring for me and my many (thankful) friends I have referred to him. I once showed up unannounced with no appointment and somehow he managed to fit me in. I could tell he was busy in and out of appointments but somehow made time for me. His bedside manors are incredible-I feel very comfortable to talk to him about any issue or concern I may have. Fagelman approaches healthcare in a very cautious and proactive way. When he is treating me or diagnosing me he considers all aspects of my life, previous health issues, and overall wellness into consideration. He sees the larger picture as well as the smaller one! I mentioned during my appointment that going to the doctor gives me anxiety and that I would really appreciate someone taking the time to review my lab results with me after my physical. After my bloodwork and routine physical, instead of receiving a call to discuss my results, I got a phone call from the front desk telling me I owed $375. My immediate reaction was confusion because my annual physical is fully covered by my insurance. Being unexpectedly told I owed hundreds of dollars after what I believed was a covered preventive visit was incredibly stressful. What made the situation worse was the interaction with the front desk. When I expressed my surprise and frustration, the staff member laughed and said something along the lines of, "Sorry, your picture looked so innocent and now you're pissed." That felt completely unprofessional and dismissive, especially given how anxious I already was. They then offered to "discount" the charge to somewhere in the $200 range. After I questioned the bill and went back and forth with them, they ultimately removed the charge entirely. If the fee could simply be waived after I pushed back, it made the whole situation feel arbitrary and left me wondering whether patients who don't question these bills just end up paying them. It honestly felt like a money grab rather than a transparent billing process. What finally pushed me to write this review is that I still had never received a call to go over my lab work or test results, despite specifically asking for one during my appointment. When I called the office myself, I was simply told they would send me a link to access my results online. Then they added that if I wanted someone to actually explain my results in more depth, I would need to schedule *and pay for* another appointment. That was honestly the most disappointing part of the entire experience. I wasn't asking for anything unreasonable. I wanted a physician to spend a few minutes reviewing the bloodwork from my annual physical, especially after I had shared that medical appointments make me anxious. Instead, I was treated like discussing my own health was an additional service that required another visit. Overall, I left feeling dismissed, frustrated, and genuinely hurt. The only proactive phone call I received from this office was about collecting money--not about my health or my results. Between the confusing billing, the unprofessional interaction with the front desk, and the complete lack of follow-up regarding my care, I cannot recommend this practice.
