I found Dr. Nanda Ramsaroop through ZocDoc which is in network for my insurance. She is a wonderful doctor. I came in for a new patient visit for a sore throat and had also requested my annual physical. My appointment was early in the morning. Dr. checked me out and what not, turns out i just have allergies. Dr. asked if I wanted to do my annual bloodwork during the new patient visit as I had already fasted and not eaten breakfast. I said sure. She stated the second half of my physical (physical body inspection) would be done in a month. Later on I receive a bill from the lab for my bloodwork. They submitted my annual bloodwork as not part of my annual, which is unfair because i was under the impression that is part of an annual and my insurance covers the bloodwork. I called their office to explain and understand the confusion. The front desk rep said that bloodwork is not part of my annual and they would pull it again in a month. (my blood work came out completely normal). i asked the rep then why did they pull my blood, etc. she told me just because and an annual exam involves an EKG. I was baffled. I've never heard of that before. I end the call. I call back and speak to another rep who was understanding and asked me to email a copy of the bill and they would resubmit it. They never did. Fast forward, i go in for the second part of my physical asking if they resubmitted it and they say no and its not part of my physical. I advised them they do not have my permission to pull my blood again because they already did it. I asked to speak to a manager and she stated they would resubmit it. I found Dr Nanda Ramsaroop after doing some research online. I was looking for a Primary Care physician near me under my insurance plan, and i was happy I found Dr Nanda Ramsaroop as the reviews I read were good. I had a tele-visit first and received some advice. I had recently had a blood test and so i faced them the results. I was waiting for a follow up call, email, but i must have misunderstood. Finally when offices started opening again i called and made an in-person visit. The waiting room was shared with another office, had it some chairs blocked off but people were standing around waiting. No one was checking or monitoring and there was no hand sanitizer available. I was asked to fill out paperwork but i did not see any sanitizing of the clipboards and pens in between people. I'm glad i brought my own hand sanitizer. The people are all very nice who work at Dr Nanda's Northeast Primary Care. The young man who checked me in, the young ladies who took my blood. Dr Nanda herself has great bedside manner and did a thorough exam. I didn't have to pay anything on my way out, we'll see how the billing goes because i read one review here that has me worried about that. read more

Dr. Barasch is knowledgeable, thorough and caring and gives me all the time I need to discuss my health issues. I never have a problem with scheduling appointments and if Dr. Barasch is not in the office I have seen her alternate, Dr Ramsaroop who is also thorough and caring. The office is clean and well run. My husband and I have visited this office several times over the years, but recently had an issue with billing. I had a swab test for COVID-19 during a sick visit by Dr. Nanda Ramsaroop while I was 18 weeks pregnant. The CPT code they used was not covered by my insurance - the "respiratory virus panel" they submitted was considered experimental and investigational. When I was billed by Quest, I had several back and forth calls with their office and Quest. I eventually filed an appeal through my insurance, which was denied. My insurance told me to have their office re-submit the claim under a different CPT code. When I gave them this option, I was told through the receptionist, by someone named "Sejal," that there was absolutely nothing they can do further and that I was responsible for a $1,000 bill for a simple swab test, which you can get done at a local pharmacy at no cost. They eventually resubmitted the claim with a different diagnosis code, but using the same CPT code, which was again denied by my insurance. I was NOT told at the time of my visit to check with my insurance on whether this test was covered. I ended up losing my baby later that month at 22 weeks. For someone who is grieving the loss of their child and the costs related to an unplanned abortion procedure, in addition to this bill for something that can be easily resolved, is devastating. Being told by their office that there's absolutely nothing they can do demonstrates the lack of compassion and care for their patients. Northeast Primary Care has no proper etiquette to tell you things directly and will have the receptionists convey their messages to you. The website states: "Most of all, we believe healthcare should be more emotional and less mechanical, more caring and less clinical." I do not recommend this business if you are looking for compassionate, transparent care. read more

Second time I've come in to see my primary care provider for a medication issue they wouldn't help me with over the phone. They had me on the schedule to see a different doctor without informing me and about a completely separate issue. Very disappointed with this office and the lack of professionalism. Will be switching doctors not because I don't like my doctor but because of how poorly this practice is run. read more

They couldn't care less about their patients, doctor didn't even hear me when I was voicing my health issues, was adamant on billing more and more unnecessary tests. My primary reason for loving this office is because of Dr. Uliano. I have spent over 10 years trying to find a doctor that I felt comfortable around, or rather a doctor that I trusted. I doctor that no matter what may be wrong, I feel safe knowing that she would be there to help me through it. This practice was the home of my previous PCP, Dr. Maria Uliano, who was very professional, highly competent, and genuinely cared for her patients. The staff was relatively skilled as well, without long wait times. After she left, was transferred to Dr. Barasch. Not sure what happened over the course of the past few years, but after Dr. Uliano suddenly left the practice (might be just pure coincidence) but the level of care, the rudeness of the staff, and the inexplicable wait times to see a doctor has gotten worse and worse. So much so that the rudeness of the staff, and the supposed "office manager" turned me off so much that I decided to look for another PCP and practice. Their inability to be flexible and genuinely care about their patients went out the window. First strike was when I went in for my annual physical, which my insurance covers fully, without any co-pays. And after being examined by Dr. Barasch, we discussed my overall health and the visit was quickly concluded. Upon exiting, they informed me that because I allegedly mentioned something, it wasn't an "wellness checkup/annual physical", and that I needed to pay a co-pay. Which is absurd. I informed them that I will discuss whatever I wish to my PCP, and that I will not pay a co-pay as my annual physical. Then they said they'll try to get get insurance to cover a visit, but that I'll most likely owe a co-pay. And was VERY rude about it. Second strike - after calling to reschedule a follow-up visit because I forgot to fast for my blood work, I was informed that I had to pay a $25 penalty fee for rescheduling. And when I explained that I'm not canceling but rescheduling for later that day, they only gave me a time which I could not attend. So pushed it to the following week. And again, they insisted on a cancellation fee, which I said I'll talk to them about. Fast forward a week later, I arrive for my appointment and after waiting yet again for a long time, was finally called to pay the penalty fee. After I explained the situation again, the front desk staff goes in the back to talk to their "office manager", who said I agreed to the penalty fee, which was not true. I again explained the situation, and that the fee bothered me out of principle and all they could say is that it was an office "policy" and could not do anything. So I gave them an ultimatum...that whether a $25 fee for them was worth having a regular patient, who has to see their PCP every 3 months, have a number of tests, and has their insurance billed thousands of dollars a year, just walk out the door. And apparently, this fee and policy was more important to them to lose a patient that has generated quite a billing for them for the past 3 years. TL;DR - what was once a very good practice has turned into a faceless factory. Have to wait an hour plus past your scheduled appointment time, to see a doctor for all of 10 minutes, and get ushered out like cattle, just as long as they get paid. Nothing against the physicians at this practice...but the staff is another story...so much of a turn off that I refuse to deal with them every again. Do NOT go here...you have been warned. read more

I have visited this practice in the past and been decently pleased. I had a scheduled physical, to which the office staff called me repeatedly in the days prior to confirm my appointment and remind me that I had an outstanding balance which needed to be paid. I arrived at the office to find a broke hand sanitizer dispenser. I went to the reception desk and the incompetent receptionist said it was broken. No offer of any other sanitizer. Pens were not sanitized in between use. The office was empty except for me. I was taken in to the exam room, my BP and pulse was taken and the nurse told me to put on the exam gown and to wait for the doctor. 45 minutes later and I was still sitting and waiting. No sign of any doctor. I got dressed and went to find someone who could explain to me where Dr. Barasch was. I found a tech and she said that the Dover was having a quick lunch and taking a phone call. I walked out, physical incomplete. Completely rude and unprofessional. I've been going here for a couple years to dr. Ramsaroop. She is amazing. I live in the Bronx and I rather drive all the way there than see any dr I've seen here in the city. I really hate when Drs makes you sit an hour to see them then rush out your room in 5 minutes because they are behind. In my years of going there I have never had to sit and wait more than 5 minutes except once and that was when corona was going on. When I'm in the room with the Dr. I appreciate that even if she's behind on her appointment times she sits and really listens to what I feel like is going on and takes care of it Or refers me to someone who can take care of it. I really appreciate the Drs who actually still listen and give you the time to gather your thoughts so you can explain what's wrong. And bonus points because they have seen me last minute (within hours) twice because I was really sick and needed a dr right then. Love them here. There is one thing I do not like. I have small veins so that makes it a problem when I need to take blood. But I am also dark skinned. I do appreciate drs who have nurses who were trained to feel around for veins in order to draw blood not just be able to see them because your can't see them on my skin. Last time I was there I was prick 5 times before the nurse caught a vein that worked. That is the reason I'm giving it 4 stars. Otherwise. Everything is great. read more

This place is enough to give you a heart attack or a stroke. They're not at all what they seem. So, I suffer from a couple of major chronic illnesses and was seeing a Dr at NorthEast Primary. At the time, she was the most amazing dr I ever got my hands on. Very attentive, thorough and seemingly sweet. Well, fast forward to a year later.. I have a mysterious bill for $199 that supposedly wasnt covered by my insurance (most likely an unnecessary test or procedure done at their sister clinic, which I was under the impression was a totally separate entity but now it all made sense). The "office manager came out into the lobby area that was full of waiting patients and began discussing my bill and demanding I pay it now or I'm not going to be allowed to see the Dr. Again, imagine serious heart condition and serious blood conditions* in which I need constant care. I explained to her that she needs to read up on HIPAA laws and not be out in the waiting room arguing with me over $199 and talking about what the visit was for. I left! I was contacted about the balance about a month later and I stated to billing(one person... the same person) that I would come see the dr "next week" and I will pay my bill at that time. Next week, I get there and hand over my AMEX only to be told it's now $385. No one was able to explain the change in amount to me. When I demanded a printout, the balance included a visit from A DIFFERENT practice altogether. The practice that they apparently send EVERYONE to to get their digestive tract checked . Now, I've been trying to get my medical records sent to an oncology/hematology practice as well as my new primary dr for months already to no avail. Guess who is in charge of medical records? Yeap... the "office manager" who called me today and informed me if I want it sent over to anyone I have to pay per sheet. When I told her I'm on my way to see her.. she left the office. By the way, I've been trying to get a phone number or email for anyone else who can get this rectified and no one can help me or find someone else to. It's Iike I'm in the twilight zone. And they are well aware that I cannot get medical treatment for my potentially fatal conditions without my records and it's a big game. And where is the dr in all of this you ask? The amazing dr who is awesome as long as she can send you to her friends at their sister practice twice a week for unnecessary testing??? called on phone as a new patient and was put on hold a few times and when I went to get my card and said it would be a few minutes I was told to call back and when I did get my card staff was rude and put me on hold...I have medicare as a primary humana as a secondary and they said they did not want to take my humana and humana says if they take medicare then they take humana...the girl on phone wanted nothing to do w what I had to say and was rude and just kept saying we don't take medicare...I tried to tell her she doesn't have to it automatically is sent. a good consept but rude staff for putting a new pt on hold at least 10 times...and not understand the concept of medicare.the office staff needs to be schooled on medicare policy if u r going to a medicare place...The concept of the office I loved and the dr had great reviews but the front desk runned it for me and they definetly would had made a lot of money off of me... read more
