When my previous dentist had exhausted his skill set trying to relieve the pain and discomfort I was experiencing, he referred me to Dr. Olson. His kindness, generosity, and patience are a gift to this profession. Dr. Olson has worked tirelessly to help me, with great results. The pain from TMJ is almost nonexistent and the number of migraines I experience has decreased significantly. He not only explains what he is going to do, but why he is doing it...and that is the first time any dentist has had the courtesy to do so. I so appreciate his dedication to the profession. He stays up to date on best practices, which results in his patients receiving the absolute best care. His gentle demeanor makes visiting the dentist a pleasure. Having had several dentists over the years, I can truly say Dr. Olson has alleviated my fear and anxiety in regard to going to the dentist. Dr. Olson's staff are incredible, as well. Friendly, kind, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and efficient are only a few words to describe the staff. Pretty surprised by the one review here as I've been exceedingly happy with Dr. Olsen and his team. I have lived in several states and have routinely encountered issues with Dentist's inability to numb me (they could numb the rest of my face but somehow not my teeth), Dr. Olsen was able to do this on the very first time. I had EXTENSIVE work done by Dr. Olsen and it wasn't to run the bill up - I literally ate lemons as a child and it ruined the enamel on my teeth. My dentist in Texas eventually capped all my lower teeth and Dr. Olsen ended up doing all my upper teeth. He spent countless weeks perfecting this to ensure my bite would be aligned. This was especially important as I have bruxism. Since the completion of this work, I guarantee you my bruxism is far better. On top of this excellent experience, they were incredibly caring and accommodating in tending to my elderly mother who suffered from Alzheimer's. There was work they clearly could've recommended to run the bill up on Mom and each and everytime we balanced that with her mental state and other ways to manage matters. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a while, but life got in the way. I don't want anyone else being deceived by this business. I moved to Ann Arbor as an undergraduate student and I was looking for a new dentist. With my previous dentist (who is an alumnus of the University of Michigan Dentistry school), I had been up to day on all my check ups, yearly cleanings, ect. When I went to James Olsen's office, I expected a regular check up and cleaning, but that is hardly what I left with. The receptionist was nice and the office was clean. I had my teeth cleaned and things started to get interesting. Fist I was visited by Joanne Wagner. She asked me on two separate occasions if I was a "soda drinker." I answered no twice and that I have a soda once every 8 weeks or so. She said OK and walked out. Then I received my X-rays and James Olsen walked in and asked if I was a soda drinker. Again, I answered no. I felt as if they were trying to convince me of something I knew not to be true. When James Olsen took out my X-rays he tried to tell me that I had almost 10 cavities! It was going to cost me (my insurance) thousands of dollars. I could not believe it; 10 cavities between one yearly check up? I decided to get a second opinion, who informed me that I had absolutely no cavities. At first, I was in shock. Then, I was outraged. Looking back, I know why they did it. I have good insurance and they were looking for an easy payout. Nevertheless, I am amazed that these individuals are still in business. This is one of the most deceitful businesses that I have ever encountered. Please, spend your money and time elsewhere! read more

Dr. Olsen was one of my favorite dentists I've had in my lifetime with fast, friendly service, and a nice waiting area which included a coffee/hot chocolate machine, and a little area for children to play games with an Xbox and a Wii U. Finding a dental office that fits my needs has been a tough task. However, at my first appointment at Dr. Olsen's I was so very pleasantly surprised. His office is beautiful and clean with a front desk staff that was very friendly and easy to talk to. My hygienist was very informative and and me feel so comfortable in the chair. Dr. Olsen informed me of my dental needs and answered all my questions!! A Doctor that listens is amazing!! I found an office for life! I have referred three friends over to the office and for doing that, Dr. Olsen sent me three Target gift cards! read more
