My parents just moved to Ann Arbor and they've been looking for a new dentist and luckily (for them) I had a few cavities that needed fillings so I had the honor of being their guinea pig trying out a new practice. Every interaction I have had with Dr. Greashaber's practice has been pleasant and seamless. Making an appointment was easy, the paperwork was easy, the front desk staff & dental hygienists are nice, and Dr. Greashaber is professional but warm and kind. I had a slightly bad reaction to the anesthesia (just jittery from the epinephrine) and he was so comforting. Further, he said that a few of my fillings that he was going to do on a subsequent visit were surface-level enough where I could avoid anesthesia on those. As I was leaving, he noted that once the anesthesia wore off I could expect a few days of gum soreness and pain. Well, guess what...nothing! It's crazy, the numbness was the worst part of it all. I had my appointment this morning and I feel nothing at all. Not sure if that's due to Dr. Greashaber or pure luck, but either way I can't complain! I have been trying to get my standard cleaning charges reimbursed by insurance for over three years now. Every time I've called the front desk staff they say they've already handled all the paperwork but my insurance company says they never received the claim. We have been asking if they have submitted a claim to the insurance company for last two years and they've repeatedly assured us yes. My entire family has had wonderful experiences and results with Dr. Greashaber and his staff. Personally, I was impressed by his cosmetic dentistry skills in shaping two new composites onto my peg lateral teeth. He was careful in matching color and sculpting angles so that the teeth looked organic and real. He has an artist's eye. Dr. Greashaber is smart, conversational, very quick and one of the best in his profession. The care that he and his team provide is exceptional. My children have had excellent care there, as well. The staff members are engaging and genuinely interested in making them feel at ease. I was welcome to stay in the cheerful exam room with my son, or I could wait in the nicely appointed reception area. Dr. Greashaber gave us a reference to an excellent, nearby orthodontist. Also, when my husband needed an urgent check up, the office staff were great about finding space for him right away. I also love the fact that the office is close to U-M's campus and within walking distance of Burns Park Elementary and Tappan Middle Schools. read more

He was clear about what he would need to do, explained what he was doing/what to expect as he was doing my filling, and afterwards went over the procedure and told me how to make sure there are no further issues. He also handled pain relief well and was reassuring during the process - something I really appreciate as someone with past bad experiences with dentists. I found Dr. Greashaber's Office after waiting way too long to go to the dentist. I had built up so much anxiety about going because I was used to being ridiculed by dental hygienist and dentist alike for waiting to long( kind of ironic I know). This is NOT at all the case here. They are great! The hygienist made a few suggestions during my cleaning and was always polite, friendly and happy. Dr Greashaber has now performed four follow-up visits for crowns and filings (again, necessary because I waited way to long to find this dentist) he is always gentle and concerned about my comfort. In addition he consults with me to assure that his recommendations are within my budget. He has used a really cool camera to take pictures in my mouth so that I can see the actual work he is doing. I didn't know that I wanted to see my teeth after they had been drilled, but very cool that I can! I would recommended him highly and I am actually going to have him perform some cosmetic work in addition to the necessary stuff. Laura in his office is always conscience about keeping me advised on the full cost of the service when it is booked and working with me so I that I understand the billing. This office has turned something I feared into an enjoyable experience for me. Great example of what a small-family owned business can and should be! read more

I was a patient here in 2010 after several recommendations from coworkers. I went in with anxiety and expressed that I wanted Dr. Greashaber to explain talk to me throughout the exam and tell me what he was doing - he really didn't do that until one appointment where he had someone shadowing him then he told that person what he was doing. He found five cavities, which surprised me but I figured I hadn't been to a dentist while in undergrad (no insurance then) so it was possible. He filled them all in 2 appointments, which was overwhelming for me. My anxiety grew after the first appointment where my mouth didn't numb completely and I had several "shocks" of nerve pain. After the first shock he numbed me some more, after the second shock he numbed me so much that I couldn't feel the entire left side of my face (including my eye lids) for the rest of the evening. At the end of the appointment I he had trouble adjusting the filling for my bite comfort and ended up removing so much of it that my molar is completely flat on the top/outside. At my second appointment to fill the remaining cavities I was so anxious that I cried throughout most of it. I actually had a hard time hearing things because my ears were filled with tears. He did not seem to notice and did not offer me a break. The assistant helping him wiped my tears (and ears) and told me it would be okay. But again, no one offered me a minute to calm down or compose myself. I cried in the parking lot in my car for a while after. Later that week I had some severe hot/cold sensitivity on one of the fillings and when I called the office he told me that I probably needed a root canal and I should come back in. I never went back. I actually started going to the UM dental school (they are very gentle, explain everything, and said I didn't need a root canal - after 3 years of going there my anxiety around dental visits is completely gone). I know a lot of people who like Dr. Greashaber, but I would definitely not recommend him to anyone with fears/anxiety. read more

Great experience! Dr. Greashaber and all the hygienests were friendly and helpful. I was embarrassed about how long it had been since my last dental appointment, but they didn't bat an eye at that, and made me feel very comfortable. They took the time to carefully explain each x-ray and photo. They would talk me through what they were doing during the cleanings and fillings, and would stop to answer my questions when I didn't understand. They were also very cognizant of my insurance plan---they told me which fillings I could delay until my insurance coverage improves, and which ones should be taken care of now. I cannot say enough positive things about the experience I had with Dr. Greashaber and his staff this afternoon. I am an out-of-state grad student, and Dr. Greashaber was recommended to me be a fellow student whose family lives in the area. I was having a slight emergency, but was very anxious about how long it had been since I had seen a dentist and about not having dental insurance. Dr. Greashaber got me in the very next day (even though I called close to closing time). Dr. Greashaber was very cognizant of my dental anxiety and of my financial constraints. He took only the necessary x-rays, was exceedingly patient and understanding, and proceeded to fix the problem with an absolutely minimal amount of pain. As he was working on my problematic tooth, he noticed that the tooth next to it had some cement left from my braces days which had become slightly discolored. He asked if I minded if he quickly addressed that for me. Little did he know that that small issue made me very self conscious. I couldn't believe he was thoughtful enough to address it. I graduate from grad school next week, and I can honestly say that I will be smiling a lot wider thanks to Dr. Greashaber. I would recommend him to anyone. read more

I will give the dentist and his dental assistants a 5, but for the office assistants they deserve a 2. I was an out of state student who went in for pain. The dentist did what he could to help and the pain was alleviated. As for the billing side of the visit it was a nightmare. They had my insurance information from both parents and I thought everything was done and didn't think anything of the visit since I had given them my info multiple times. I wasn't told for a very long time that they didn't have the correct insurance information. I had moved to California already. They said that they tried to bill both insurance (dual insurance) but nothing. I had them rebill the insurances and only one was accepted. The insurance that was not was from the parent who had recently switched jobs and no longer had that insurance. It ended up being pretty cheap for the visit, but the hassle of figuring this out is why I am giving 3 stars. For out of state students, I'd say go elsewhere. read more

Growing up I had a dentist I loved, and whom I returned to from across the country for dental care as I was away with school. After he retired, I realized how truly scary the dental world can be. After a few too many disappointments, I let years slip by without going to a dentist. Upon moving to Ann Arbor (and getting dental insurance) I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Greashaber, upon a friend's recommendation. I am SO glad I did. I knew there was a lot of work to be done, from cleanings to fillings to crowns and so I was nervous, but Dr. Nick was so kind and reassuring and non-judgmental about the effect my years of reckless hedonism had wreaked upon my teeth. He explained to me what needed to be done, the costs of everything, and what my insurance would cover. He laid out a treatment plan over the next couple years and answered my every question. As he has completed that work, he's always careful, concerned about my comfort, and willing to laugh at the many "that's what she said" jokes I can't help but throw out there that come along with oral hygiene. During my first appointment last summer, when I just came in for a regular check-up, the doctor himself did the cleaning. I have never had that happen, and it was a really nice experience, as it let me get to know him and feel more comfortable. I am not a nervous dental patient, but this still put me at ease. In my return visits, Dr. Greashaber and all his staff are extremely friendly and have walked me through everything. He does not seem to want you to return for additional work unless you or he thinks it is necessary, he leaves it up to the patient. This is quite unlike some other dentists I have visited, who seem to be wringing everything they can from your insurance. During a recent minor procedure, the Dr made sure at every step that I knew what was happening and was sure to ask whether anything was uncomfortable. I recommend this office to anyone, whether you dislike dentists or not! read more
