They require you to call back at 2PM to make an appt for after school, even though their hours are until 7pm (on Tuesdays). I am not sure why they are being so difficult, it is 11:29 and they won't make an appt for later this afternoon unless I call back at 2. ?? Was told to go to urgent care.... just not a practice that accommodates working parents who can call multiple times during the day to get an appt. what is the point of having a pediatrician who refers you to urgent care? That is where we ended up going. No one has reached out to speak to me about this issue other than deny they told us to go to urgent care. The person who took the call told me that and the manager was shocked when I told her. They don't deny that working parents don't have all day to call and beg for an appointment. The manager, not the person who answered the call, offered to call or email me at 2. Like I told her, I was in meetings at 2 and could not answer an email or take a call. Just a terrible practice compounded by lying receptionists and a sick kid.

My LO had been going to this office since he was born but I'd grown increasingly dissatisfied with…read moreDr. Chea. She has a nice bedside manner but otherwise her attitude was strangely between nonchalant and over reactive. We had to prod her for a medicated cream to clear up the rash G had for months instead of her solution that we try a Similac formula when I was clear I'm not comfortable with commercial formulas. Also, we were constantly referred to specialists for minor issues without really any explanation. Because of this, I decided to visit another local pediatric office to see how we fit and asked for a copy of G's records to be sent there. He was scheduled for a routine checkup but before the appointment he came down with a cold. Since he hadn't been to the new practice yet, I called FPA for a sick appointment. I was told that since I'd requested a copy of his records be sent to another practice, his chart had been closed and FPA would no longer see him. REALLY? Talk about taking it personally that I want a second opinion, LOL! I've talked to plenty of moms and it's common practice to shop around for a pediatrician that you feel is the best fit for your family. Not to mention they never told me G's chart would be closed if I sought a visit elsewhere. Needless to say, good riddance! I'm glad I followed my gut and am taking G to another practice. The only reason I gave FPA a second star is for Cindy the NP/lactation consultant. She has a wonderful, gentle way with the babies and I had complete confidence in her. No wonder she's booked far in advance. There is another nurse whose name I don't know (appeared to be of Caribbean descent) that usually took G's vitals who was also warm and friendly.

We recently moved to the area and were looking for a pediatrician. After doing some Google…read moresearches, we chose this practice based solely on their high review ratings. We assumed they must be good--but we couldn't have been more wrong. I should have used Yelp. It honestly makes me wonder how they have such stellar reviews on Google. Do they write their own? Do they incentivize people to leave glowing feedback? Is the sky blue? Too many questions, too few answers. The doctor was acceptable--she was decent, but nothing exceptional. The real issue was the front desk. Absolutely horrendous with capital bold H. They act like they're there because they have to be, not because they care. They require records from your previous provider and refuse to see your child without them. You send the paperwork under the false impression that your child will be cared for by a quality pediatric office. Instead, they mishandle the documents and botch the appointment scheduling. One issue after another. Honestly, I won't even waste more words on them. In short: if you're already an established patient, maybe it's fine. But if you're new and looking for a pediatrician--look elsewhere. You will save your sanity and thank me later.

Our children have been patients at two of the "top-rated" pediatricians as we've moved over the years--and this is the only practice where you're truly treated as a person, not just a number. If you're looking for speed and convenience, you can always go to an assembly-line pediatrician. But if you want a true care team--literally two doctors who will know your children by name, provide thoughtful and individualized treatment, and actually keep you informed--this is the place for you. When I first called, Anastasia let me know they're a smaller practice. So yes, I may wait on hold for a couple minutes while they're helping another patient--but I'll take that any day over the rushed, impersonal care we've experienced elsewhere. At the other offices, they'd order multiple bacterial infection tests based only on symptoms I described over the phone--without even seeing my children. That's not care--that's just billing insurance as quickly as possible. Sky Valley is the complete opposite. Here, they take the time to listen, assess thoughtfully, and treat your family like their own.

We have been seeing Dr Alcuri for almost 7 years now. I have four children. When I first moved to…read moreFrederick I went to a Pediatricians Office that had many Drs. I always felt like a cow being herded through a slaughter yard when going to that office. Each time having to explain my children's preexisting conditions to the Dr available to take our appointment. Many times this led to undue worries on my part because they did not have a one-on-one history with my child who had an extensive history and therefore they chose to be overly cautious with treatments. As a result of them not individually following her care my time and money was wasted and I was always worried. I had reservations about going to a single Dr because I would loose the appointment availability (weekends) the office of many Pediatricians offered. I can now say it was the best decision I made in caring for my children. I never had to brief Dr Alcuri on my children's preexisting issues. I never had to wait in the lobby for more than five minutes. I could almost always be seen same day even when calling on a Monday morning. If it was the weekend, I could call the after hours line and Dr Alcuri would call me back at any time of the night and advise me on what to do. Bottom line, having a dedicated and competent Dr outweighed having the convenience of more office hours. We are thankful for his Practice and his wonderful care taking skills.
