Great practice! I was a new patient of Dr. Robyn James, so this was my first time to the office. I was welcomed to the practice by the front desk staff. I input my info into a tablet and was called back after waiting maybe 15-20 mins. Beatrice brought me back to my exam room and asked for specific reasons for my visit. She took pics and asked many questions to ensure she related my dermatological concern to the doctor. Dr. James came in and was very friendly and patient with my case. The practice is a disaster. Wait times for visits exceeding 2 hours.  On more than one occasion I had to leave without being seen due to the excessive wait and my other obligations/appointments.  At my last visit I was actually seen by Dr. James.  While in the process of providing the above feedback when she asked how it was going, she cut me off mid sentence stating "hold on, I didn't go to medical school for this".  She then brought the office manager into the room who, along with the medical assistant, had to bear witness to her tantrum.   At one point I thought that perhaps she realized her behavior  because she softened her tone and admitted that the practice needed to greatly improve in the customer service area of patient care but she then doubled down and again repeated "I didn't go to a top rated medical school for this".  To say I was appalled is an understatement.  Practicing medicine involves way more than prescribing medications; perhaps Dr. James was absent during that lecture while attending her "top rated medical school".  While it's lovely that Dr. James is so impressed with herself and her accomplishments but  that type of grandstanding is best served in her staff meetings or during her daily affirmations in the bathroom mirror, NOT to a patient who is there to seek medical care.  Patients go to providers to seek help for their medical conditions which is often a very stressful and vulnerable time.  Patients do not deserve to be subjected to such disrespectful and boorish behavior ESPECIALLY when the disorganization and inattentiveness is a direct result of that provider's poor business model.  Along with fixing her lofty attitude Dr. James may want to instruct the support staff to inform patients when they are making appointments that wait times often will exceed 90 minutes. It's called managing expectations so that the patients can plan accordingly or decide if the practice is the right fit for them.  As for the office staff: The receptionists, medical assistants and most importantly the office manager were beyond amazing.  Unfortunately that does not compensate for the disgusting behaviour of Robyn James, MD. read more

Dr. James is excellent, however the wait times are ridiculous. I understand that doctors may get backed up, but I make my appointments for the morning. There is no reason why I should have to wait almost 2 hours to get seen when my appointment was at 1015. The staff should at a minimum tell you there will be a long wait BEFORE you sit and wait in the exam room so you can reschedule if necessary. I will be looking for another dermatologist office. read more

I have had several very professional and enjoyable visits at the office of Dr Weddington. The office is clean and up to date, the staff is friendly and very efficient. I have never had to wait for an appointment, if my appointment is at 10am I am typically taken back to see the doctor by 10am. I have never had to wait in an exam room for more than two minutes either. Dr Weddington is a very good listener, he is professional and very pleasant to speak with. I like that he has a good relationship with his staff, they seem to work very well together. I live in Old Town Alexandria and was pleased to find Dr Weddington's practice so close and so very impressive. It has been a far superior experience to the all too many dermatologists I have tried to get help from here in Virginia. read more

Everyone in my family has been to this office for skin issues and we love the professional care we receive from Dr. Beckett. My husband and son have eczema, my daughter had some type of skin discoloration on her face, and I'm forever getting pesky skin tags removed. The front desk folks are sweet and efficient. Dr. Beckett is a great doctor: personable, knowledgeable, gentle, and professional. read more

I was a patient of Dr. James years ago and she was great! I had several changes, if not at some point no insurance so I couldn't continue to see her. I now have a better job w/ better benefits and I plan on visiting her again for clearing up my skin. I have no idea what is going on with this office, specifically the office in Ft. Washington, however, their front desk staff, specifically Veronica, is RUDE and lacks proper customer service skills. This morning, I called to cancel an appointment, because getting appointments with this office is absolutely impossible and I have already seen another provider. I find their scheduling issues odd since when you do go in, you are rushed thru your appointment and they are ALWAYS late. They seem to regularly over book and do not seem to be apologetic for running behind. The young lady I spoke with in scheduling was excellent. She cancelled my appointment and then I explained that I wanted a copy of my medical record. She transferred me to the front desk in Ft Washington, where i spoke to Veronica. She explained that she could FAX me the form to release my medical records and that she has no way of emailing me. in 2017 you are incapable of emailing your patients? Again, shocking since they use iPads to record patient information. She then said, I will mail it to you and hung up. No confirmation of my mailing address, no indication to me that she knew who she was speaking to since I was just transferred. I called back, and again got a nice young lady in the scheduling department, who transferred me to the front desk and I got Veronica again. She told me "has your address changed? then I have it" I attempted to explain to her why it was bad customer service to not confirm my address and she cut me off telling me that she was not gong to argue with me. This interaction just reaffirmed why I will no longer patronize this business. Two stars because of my previous interaction with Dr. Beckett at this office. But scheduling, overbooking and bad customer service has run its course. read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Weddington this morning. I'm usually never late, but my GPS kept sending me in circles. I called the office for help and received great directions from the lady whom I spoke with. Follow the hospital signs. They will lead you to the office which is next-door to the hospital. Both the nurse and Dr. Weddington were absolutely amazing. They took their time speaking to me regarding my skin issues, along with examining me thoroughly. I think I found my new dermatologist office. read more

Dr. james is an excellent dr. however their billing practices and administrative staff follow up is lacking. I called several times about an overpayment and after one year I have still not been refunded. Their office anticipates what the insurance payment will be and charges you accordingly at the end of your visit. In this instance they were late submitting the claim and the deductible had been met so I was overcharged. Over the past year I have called the billing office and dr's office approx. a dozen times and still have not been refunded. I have been a patient more than 15 years but have not been back and will not go back after this experience. This is the only dr's office that I have/had that demands payment at the end of your visit prior to receiving an explanation of benefits and payments from the insurance company even though they are an in network participating provider. read more

Dr. James was extremely professional and very thorough. She answered all my questions thoroughly. The nursing staff was great as well. I went to several docs before finding advanced dermatology. I would recommend this office to anyone who is looking for a dermatology doc. read more

Two stars because Dr. James is an excellent doctor who is very thorough and caring of her patients. However, things have really changed over the years with regards to customer service. I've been a patient for about 15 years and I see the service getting worse. After waiting nearly 2 months for an appointment, I had waited over an hour without being seen, apologized to, or acknowledged by the staff. We all know if the roles were reversed and I showed up 15 minutes late for my appointment I would have been asked to reschedule out of respect for the doctors time. I eventually ended up walking out as I had another appointment scheduled. I later received an unapologetic voicemail from the office stating that I walked out "without stopping at the front desk", which I did but the receptionist was on the phone, and to call back to reschedule the appointment. Why would I take more time off of work and travel nearly an hour to a practice who seems to lack respect for their loyal patients? There is really no one to express concerns to, so we are limited to sites like this. read more

I called the MedStar Orthopaedic Institute to schedule an appointment with Dr. Robyn James on June 23, 2016 @ 11:00am. The number I called was (301) 292-6010. After two minutes of holding, a lady answered the phone and told me to please hold. I held on for three additional minutes (ridiculous!). She was in the process of taking my information and told me what appointment dates that the doctor does not have (not helpful). Finally a date was found for an opening and the lady began to play with the spelling of my name. I felt disrespected having to spell it and again. This process took a while and my frustrations grew (from the first time I was told to hold). I asked the lady if she could take my most important information (name, insurance, social) and I could fill the remaining portions when I arrived. She continued to talk about her procedures and was not listening. She denied my plea and told me this was the only way to get an appointment. I felt like she was not suited to take notes in a timely fashion. She then, ended the call by hanging the phone up on me in the middle of my sentence. I tried to return the call, but after the pre-recorded message/menu finished, my call was never picked up. There should not be people working that are not helpful, condescending, and impatient with policy holders!!! I wish I could remember her name! Please respond. read more
