Simon, the owner, came to the house, met with me to discuss general ideas of what I wanted, and soon sent me a proposal which I found to be fair. Having constructed about 50 fireplaces, he has superb design and construction skills and knew exactly what to do; he thinks 10 steps ahead, which helps to avoid problems later on. Throughout the construction process, he gave me options and the pros/cons of each to consider. Simon handled all of the permitting with the township and was on-site to meet every inspector and sub-contractor. In short, he, Victor and his team turned an ugly wall into what is now the focal point of my house. They were a pleasure to work with: completely reliable, on-time, honest, professional and super-clean. They set up a Zip-wall to keep the rest of the house dust-free and worked outdoors under a pop-up tent; in short, they were EXTREMELY clean and considerate throughout the entire process. As a homeowner, I'm fairly competent with basic home maintenance and repair - but a fireplace installation required specialized knowledge and Simon has it. With the added challenge of a Pandemic, design meetings were quickly adapted with Zoom and the Chef's excitement and attention to detail were clear. With uncertain times, we became more comfortable with each meeting that we should press on and were in good hands. The renovation started with excitement and of course some trepidation but every morning we got a report on what the day's plan was and came home to marvel at the transformation that was happening. We even had to deal with an unrelated plumbing issue on a different floor of the house and Paul and their recommended plumber came out on a Saturday, spending time away from their families to help us out without hesitation. Above and beyond expectations throughout the whole process. Paul was on top of every subcontractor to make sure we were getting everything we wanted and that it was done right. Doug's eye for design was incredible and everything he suggested came out fantastic looking. They made everything so easy. We contracted with Two Chefs Construction in the Fall of 2019 for a complete kitchen and first…read morefloor demolition and reconstruction (including bathroom and living room) - what I would consider a major home renovation, gutting the space down to studs and rebuilding. We have experience with similar major home renovation and I would rate our experience with Two Chefs at the highest end of our experience. The most important thing to us was a strong kitchen design that provided a good flow to our first floor and enabled a large kitchen island in a space where it might have been difficult with another design. We are thrilled with the result. They were also very helpful in selection of appliances, cabinets, flooring, and all other choices - by understanding our tastes and translating that to something that worked as a whole. They even went shopping with us for tile that would work in the design. The result is a kitchen that now flows well with living room, dining room and bathroom downstairs - permitting easier entertaining and movement of people at gatherings and dining events - and most importantly easier cooking of large and complex meals. They were exceptionally strong with construction management, timing and budget as well. I tracked spending versus budget closely and the only variations were from third-party contractors needing more involvement than planned, from unexpected problems after demolition and from our choices as to appliances. They finished precisely on the planned date set at the beginning - actually working longer hours to make sure they did. This is made possible by their working on only ONE project at a time. They are available to you constantly during the project - usually immediately. Any kitchen renovation is a major disruption but they helped us plan for the downsides and it was hard but not impossible. They did their best to keep dust and debris well controlled - but dust in all living spaces from a major project seems inevitable and we recovered from it. Even after it was complete, they were available to return to ensure that cabinet doors were perfectly aligned and that everything was satisfactory. For this work, we asked for full proposals from Two Chefs and from another well-known and capable company. We awarded the work to Two Chefs based on their design and approach - and because we felt it would produce something more dedicated to our needs versus a cookie cutter renovation. This is precisely what we realized - a kitchen that is everything we wanted and more. I say "more" because they asked us to consider using fewer upper cabinets and more lower cabinet space - in order to open up the kitchen more and make it lighter. It was precisely the right advice and we are very happy with the results. I would very highly recommend this team for similar projects.

Very poor customer service. Ruined my quartz duirng installation. Uneven cuts around stove. Workers…read moredid not show up when expected. Waited for weeks for service to come to clean the quartz which did not work and company refused to replace it and walked away. I had multiple companies come to try to clean it and they all agreed the installation using sillicone ruined the quartz, plus the installatrion and cuts were done incorrectly. I called quartz company for warranty and was told Richmond Granite did not order my quartz from them and they have not ordered from the for almost a year. So Richmond Granite gave me a warranty from a company they do not do business with.

I explained my situation - I needed a granite countertop and wood side panels removed, and then put back after another home improvement job. Kathy had me send pictures, and came back with a quote that was less than any other quote I had gotten. The counter and panels were removed within a week. When I was ready to have them put back, they came in less than a week. The workers (the same men who took everything down) were great, and even remembered the names of my dogs! The scope of the project was a planned remodeling of my master bedroom and master retreat which included new flooring throughout, new lighting fixtures, painting, and installation of a new electric linear fireplace. I was impressed by Sam on our initial phone communications- he was extremely professional and offered many suggestions that we ultimately included in the final project. After we signed the contract, he started work on the exact day that he had promised, and he and his team worked every day until it was completed. They actually finished a bit earlier than stated on the contract! Each of Sam's workers were very respectful of my property, and always left the work area very clean. Throughout the process, Sam showed a particular attention to detail that I truly appreciated. He has a good eye for color, and helped me to pick out colors for my walls, flooring and fireplace tile that really complement each other. Sam and his team constructed a wall length framing for the fireplace that truly exceeded my expectations. The finished product is simply breathtaking! Sam and his team will be returning after the holidays for the 2nd phase of the project, which will transform the master retreat into a custom designed walk in closet. I was given a quote and booked my appointment for the work to be done. His crew (Carlos & Luis) arrived within the arrival window that was quoted to me, placed tarps on my wood floors and commenced working immediately. The work they do is stellar, they are both friendly and extremely efficient. Aside from a wonderful installation, they even clean up any mess they make during the process and removed the old shower door that was left. Pricing for the work was reasonable for the hefty task at hand. They say good help is hard to find but not in this case....I will only use AHR for any future work needed on my apartment.
