The owner of this establishment is awesome. She is quick and her work is store quality. A good tailor/seamstress should be in everyone's contacts. There is nothing more unseemly than a pair of dress slacks with frayed ends, or worse yet a 2inch buckle at the bottom for the slouch affect. I have a large arm, not Hulk large, more like festival turkey leg large--if you can be honest with yourself who can you be honest with---that being said, most of my dressier items require a little seem work to give a polished and finished look. I brought in a costume that needed a new zipper, when I picked it up it looked amazing so I didn't question it. The second I tried to zip it up slowly, it immediately ripped from the costume. I was greatly disappointed because Jamie was very nice and I wanted to leave him a good review but I can't. To be fair, I gave him two days to do it, but looking at other reviews I see it's a common occurrence. This makes me sick and i really tried to be patient .... but dropped a coat off for a new zipper right after Christmas ... Man said 2 weeks and i would be called when done ... also said i would get a text... i stood there for 10 minutes and never received a text... i was charged and paid $45. A month later i called as i had heard nothing .. After a long hold i was told cost was done .. when i got there , the place smelled, was in disarray with coats and clothing and furniture everywhere ... i received coat and the part of the zipper fell off ... a new zipper was not put in .. The kind man apologized for my inconvenience and stated i could come back the following monday . he also promised me a big discount for my next project.. i didnt want to be rude but kept thinking there wont be a next time ... but was trying to give him a chance to make it right ... however he then asked if i knew anyone who needed a job as they were short handed ... I should have taken the coat then and there ... as i had a bad feeling . however i left and returned the following Monday to pick up the coat. I took it as quickly as possible and wanted to get out of there as the place was again very dirty and smelly and my coat was absolutely filthy. When I got the coat home, I realized that I paid $45 for a really terrible job. It was not a new zipper. If I could give zero stars, I would. We were promised that my daughter's chaps would have a zipper replaced in two weeks. After 3 weeks, we went back and they weren't done. We were told to come back the next day. We did, and they weren't done because the zipper he ordered was the wrong length. We were told to come back the next day AGAIN. We did. They still weren't done. We needed them for her horseback riding competition in two days. We decided to pick them up anyway and try to work something else out to get them fixed. Yes, we were angry. But there were no raised voices, swearing, anything like that. We simply asked for a refund, and we're trying to get our money back. I really really wish I could have written a good review, but that isn't the experience I had. I called in on a Thursday and asked if I could have two pairs of pants hemmed by Monday afternoon. They let me know that would be difficult because they were fixing a boat and said that they could have the pants ready on Tuesday. When I showed up on Tuesday, they told me that they had called and texted saying that they were delayed and they needed a few more days (I never received a call or text). We went out of town (unfortunately without the pants). I just went to pick them up. The employee was kind enough to let me pick them up right at 6pm after work, but I was disappointed to see the end result. The pants are hemmed with some sort of clear wire that is very visible from the outside and sewn in uneven lines. Additionally, there is a ton of extra string on the inside of the pants that is hanging out all over. I'm nervous to trim anything because it all appears to be a tangled mess. We paid in advance, but we will not be returning to this shop unfortunately. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! Took a brand new suit to have the hem let down one inch and the waistband taken in. Instead, he cut off an inch, ruining the suit! He didn't even attempt to take the waistband in. Then he yelled at my husband on the phone telling him that the suit was 10 years old! It was brand new, never worn. He told my husband to go buy a new suit and he would pay for it. When we brought the receipt back he refused to pay for it. JAMIES ALTERATIONS RUINED MY DRESS. DO NOT GO HERE. I INCLUDED BEFORE & AFTER BECAUSE THE OWNER WANTS TO SCREAM AT ME ON THE PHONE & INSIST HE DID NOT RUIN IT. The owner is HORRIBLY mean. Worst alteration shop I've ever been to. I wanted to get some MINORLY worn spots fixed on a vintage dress, and wanted to add lace up side details instead of where a broken zipper was. I asked multiple times if he felt comfortable working with the fabric type and he assured me he was and he could add structure to it. I felt comfortable based on good reviews and his assurances. THE GOOD REVIEWS ARE FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER. DO NOT TRUST THE CURRENT OWNER. Worst mistake ever. The dress is in tatters, WAY worse than when I brought it in. Not only are the worn areas now completely frayed, but they're weirdly glued together & there's bits of glue all over the dress. The lace up aspect was okay, but not good. It looks unfinished and bad, but not worth the $80 I paid. There was a tear on the hem & how it was sewed looks SO bad. I could have hand sewed that part better when I was 10. It's ruined. I sure hope people read the reviews before asking Jaime to do any work for you. I had a 70 year old baby's leather jacket to have a new zipper and lining. He used pieces of lining sewn together with frayed edges and the arms twisted so the arms were impenetrable. The zipper was obviously from a heaver jacket and was inappropriate for this tiny jacket. He also agreed to convert a leather poncho into a jacket. The only thing he did was cut open seams and removed fringe. He required $100 in advance in April. Had not started to do any work until I came into his store in July to ask when it would be done. I demanded a refund and he told me he would NOT refund any of my prepayment. Work was shabby and both items were in worse condition after being in his care. He does not stand behind his work. Exceptionally bad experience. One star is way too good for him. read more

I'm wanting to sell a boat and needed some of the seats reupholster. I was promised he could to the work in 3-4 weeks, it ended up taking almost 3 months, to their credit they did get COVID and had to recover. They ended up using a material that was nothing like what it was brought in with in color or texture. Plus there are craftsmanship issues where the seems aren't sown tightly together. I initially accepted them but over the weekend the more I looked at them the more it upset me, confrontation if very hard for me. So I returned to ask why he'd use a material that was so different from what it was brought in with and he actually tried blaming me. Stating over and over that's what the receipt says, when I took them in I told his employee that the material laying there at her work station is what I wanted them to use as it closely matched what was on them originally! For some reason she wrote down bright white.. so that's what he used but that's on his company not me. read more

I just moved from California to Indiana with a lot of extremely expensive items that were destroyed by the movers. (never never never use Moving Nation!) everything I own was broken, ripped, shredded, basically destroyed. I had a Middle Eastern bedspread which cost me about $5000 with the pillows. It looked almost like a cigarette burn on the acanthus leaves velvet part, but, was, in actuality, caused by the dry cleaner. Jamie fixed it so perfectly that I was totally amazed. Then there was a rip in my butter leather ottoman, burgundy. He fixed it also. You cannot even tell by looking closely, where the rip had been. I am pretty picky, but these standards matched Beverly Hills standards (hard to beat)! Then he repaired my fabric which was draped over my four poster bed. This bed cost me $30,000 from the LA design center and the fabric was $750 a yard! I would not have trusted Jamie, unless I had seen his previous work. This is a first class operation, even though it looks like a Ma and Pa service from the outside. Looks are definitely deceiving! I lucked out when I found his upholstery service! went into Jamie's on 4/1/22 and brought several designer items along with some name brand items to be altered. I was there around 2 hours trying on and going into detail about what I wanted done and getting the items pinned. He told me I had to pay upfront because people leave their stuff and never come back. I agreed and paid $256 to him on my credit card and asked him to take good care of my items and he said he would. He told me they would be done in two weeks and I stated if he were a little late getting them done that would be okay but I needed them by the end of the month. He said he would have them done in two weeks and would call me when they were done. I never received a call so at the beginning of in May I called and said I would be in to pick the items up. They said they would be there. When I got there I found him walking to his car and the store closing early. I stopped him and said I needed my things and he said no. The store was too crowded with furniture and that I would have to come back another time. I told him I work during the hours they are open and had to leave early to get there on time and that they knew I was coming. He disregarded me and told me to come back. I politely got in my car and left. On May 26th I called again and said I would be in and was told they would be there and I told them I had a couple more things to get done and they said it wouldn't be a problem. When I got there there were two items that were not done. He said he couldn't remember what I wanted done to them but never attempted to call me to ask what needed done. He had me try on the pink pants to see if they fit and they did so I took them off and tried on the items I needed hemmed and told them what I wanted done. He said he would get them done in a week including the items I dropped off. I paid $45.00 for the two other items I dropped off. We agreed I would try the rest of the items on when I got home and let them know if anything needed an adjustment. When I got home and opened the bag some of my items were in and inspected them I realized that they were not done how I asked. The dresses were cut crooked, the seems were crooked and loose. There were what looks to be blood stains on one of my $600 brand new dresses, stains on my brand new Gucci jeans, which also had been folded over and hemmed rather than cut and hemmed and a seen through the satin Gucci logo. The waist was taken in but not the hips as I asked. There were stains on my pink $300 brand new pants and when I checked the hem I realized they were cut wrong and then just loosely tacked with a wide criss cross stitch and not hemmed at all. My dress that was supposed to have the sleeves cut, the elastic removed and put back in to shorten the sleeves was just folded over and stitched into a clown style sleeve. They were not cut and the elastic was not removed like I paid for. I had two pair of Alice and Olivia jeans that had the helm just folded over and stitched. Like the Gucci jeans, they were supposed to open the hem, cut it and sew it back up to look exactly like it did before like I paid him for but that was not done either. My other striped dress, also $600 and brand new was cut crooked at the hem and stitched very crooked and the seem was coming out. My other dress was supposed to taken in just a pinch as it was too large and room was supposed to be left so it wouldn't be too tight at the waist and still drape nicely. It was taken in so far I couldn't properly zip it. None of my items had ever been worn. There were stains on nearly everything. I called them immediately and talked to Amber. She told me to bring the items back in and promised he would be there to discuss the next steps. I again left work early and rushed to get there on time and he was not there. Amber stated that he told her to deal with it because he didn't want to. She didn't know what to do with anything and had no suggestions for me. She just said that he would pay for the dry cleaning. Thank asked her to call him and let him know I wanted a refund and my dry cleaning paid for. I could hear him screaming into the phone at her about me and I then stated I would file a suit against him if I didn't get my money back and my items were not fixed. He then told her to put me in the phone and when I got on he started screaming into the phone "Get out of my store bitch! I will see you in court!" He hung up and then called back screaming into the phone at Amber to get me out of the store and he was calling the police on me. She insisted I was leaving and he kept screaming at her and said he was calling the police on me. I received no refund, nothing dry cleaned and no restitution for the items that were ruined. read more

This gentleman is a nice individual and very friendly. Sadly the upholstery work was 4 months past promised time, and severely under par in craftsmanship and skill. We took two mid century chairs to be recovered, chose a nice grey "leather" vinyl. He promised that we would be very pleased. We now have two BLACK VINYL covered chairs, with exposed staples and tacks, some tacks were hammered in at an angle and left bent, many sharp staple ends sticking through the fabric, was lacerated picking up the chairs!! I can only surmise that he has vision problems, or considers this professional work. The buttons on the back are at a slant, and the cushions do not fit. Promised reconstruction and fell short. I was given a pickup date of a week and a half after dropping off some items with the seamstress knowing that was the absolute latest I could pick up due to me going out of town. I never received a phone call and showed up on the Friday I was told it would be ready and the owner and seamstress told me it was not ready and they would call me later that day. I never received a phone call and now they will not open until I am out of town. Store hours even says They are open on Saturdays, which they are not. read more

Took in an ottoman that had been handed down to us to be recovered. I showed him a picture of what I wanted it to look like (the one on the left from wayfair). Was told by the owner he could make it look like that no problem. I was told to pay 1/2 up front and it would be done in about a month. 6 months later I was told I could come get it and the final result was the ottoman on the right. I told him I wanted a refund and he could keep all the material. I was given $20 back and was told he currently didn't have any money to return to me. I called the other Jamie's Alterations and was told they are not associated with the Lima Rd one. We ended up throwing the ottoman out as it was now beyond repair and purchased a new one off wayfair. Stopped in after googling "alterations near me". Was nervous when I first pulled up as it was a small shop at the end of a shoddy looking strip mall, but the pants I needed hemmed were only $20. I figured if they got ruined - I could buy another pair of $20 pants. Jamie is an older woman and so incredibly nice with a booming personality. I was expecting to have to wait a few days to get the pants back - but she said she could have them done by the next day! She even worked around my work schedule so that I could get them a little earlier. Overall - it cost me $12 to have a pair of pants hemmed overnight. The hem itself was perfect - she had me try them on so that she could measure out the correct length before hemming. The hem hasn't fallen out and was done evenly. I came to Jamie asking for a hem in a formal dress around closing time. She requested $75 for the hem. The dress was 60" around and the slip was 52" with at total of 112" of hem. That equals to an $1 for every inch and a half of sewing. Yes, she cut off the extra fabric. The hem was OK, but only folded once, with rough edges left exposed on the inside. I requested it be done in two weeks. She had the dress for the night, and said she'd call when done. I found someone else who would do it for $10. So I got to her shop noon the next day. She had 5 dresses that needed to be done by Friday, but had done mine by the time I showed up (out of a logical order of business). Nice enough person, the job is good enough for the wedding (but had hoped for a double fold for a hem like most garments.) I left feeling ripped off even though she dropped her price a bit. read more

They also claim to redye leather. They completely ruined a footstool and threatened to take us to small claims if we didn't pay. The soft leather came back looking like cheap plastic. Prior to this incident, I took my son's baseball pants to him to be altered. The stiching is now coming apart only after a couple games. Do not use this guy. He is dishonest. read more

I took my wedding dress there about 6 weeks ago. When i tried the dress on and she was pinning where it needing to be altered i was thinking wow she knew what she was doing. Well when i picked up the dress a week before the wedding it was still too big. She didnt even put on a bussell for me. All she did was shove the excess fabric inside the dress. I paid $90 for a dress to be altered correctly and it was still too big. She would not work with me and my work schedule to try and fix it. She would not refund me either. Since it was a week before the wedding no other place could get it back in time either. So my mom and sister had to try and fix it for me. Dont recommend this place to anyone.
